Sweaty Sixteen

Previous long runs for Marathon Training:   One Way Ticket to Double Digitland (10 miles) Eleven with the Ladies A Hellish Half Marathon Fabulous Fourteen   I can’t believe I ran 16 miles this morning! This is officially my longest run to date.  :)  My previous personal distance record was 15.4 miles at the Croom’s [...]

Wedding, Revisted

Healthy Tipping Point actually started off as See Bride Run, and it was a hybrid wedding/running blog.  I didn’t realize how short-sighted the name was until about a month before my wedding.  :)  Whoops.   My wedding was a dream – it was perfect (the recaps are at the bottom of the Top Posts page [...]

Today is National Poetry Day

(in the United Kingdom!)   Staring into the bathroom mirror, standing there with a Post-It note, I pressed my pen to the paper And I wrote:   You are good enough You are beautiful just the way you are You imperfections make you unique The best version of yourself by far   Sometimes when I [...]

Mexican Fiesta

I have a cleaning question! I’ve been cooking white rice for James (since his tummy still hurts from Monday’s near-death experience) and I burned the rice to the bottom of the pot.  I cannot get that black stuff off as hard as I scrub!  I let it soak for 48 hours, too!   Any suggestions?  It’s [...]

Anytime Fitness

This morning I went to Anytime Fitness in Winter Park, Florida to check out their gym and try their morning yoga class. I quit the gym a few months ago (I belonged to LA Fitness) because I hated the crowds, bad music, weird hours, old equipment, and lame classes.  Anytime Fitness seems to be everything [...]

I’ve Got a Hankering for Pie

Around 1 PM, I twittered: And then I drove to the grocery store and bought myself a mini pumpkin pie.  :) Hands down the best mid-afternoon snack EVER (I had about 1/3 of the pie): :)   I also snacked on grapes: And dinner was two pieces of veggie pizza (homemade by the Husband) and [...]

Run With Me

I decided to run this morning instead of biking.  I like to follow my training plan as closely as possible because it’s important to safely and slowly increase weekly mileage.  If I had skipped today’s run, I’d be looking at a 7-mile jump next week – no good!   I decided to bring my camera [...]

Starter Breakfast

I woke up early, got some work on the Operation Beautiful book done, and had a starter breakfast: Just toast and organic blueberry jam.   It’s just a starter because I’m about to go work out and will eat more when I return.  :)  However, I cannot decide if I want to run or bike.  [...]

Snakes vs. Turtles

Update your Google Readers! http://www.healthytippingpoint.com/feed   I am well-known for “rescuing” turtles I find stuck in the road.  :) But tonight on my run, I spotted a SNAKE in the gutter.  After screaming my face off (he startled me!), I considered trying to move him.  But snakes are not turtles – turtles are slow and [...]

Fur Baby Insurance

I finally purchased pet insurance for the dogs. I’ve never been one to purchase warranties or protection plans… but I looked through our vet records and realize the dogs have cost us about $2,500 in three years.  Pet ownership is not cheap!  The plan is about $15 a month per dog or $360 a year…. [...]

Reunited

And it feels so good! James is back home after a night in the Doggie ER.  His red blood count looks normal and his sunny disposition is back!  :)    I’m going to lay down with him for an hour or so…. be back!  The Husband and I just wanted to say thank you for [...]

Pray for James

I received a frantic phone call from the Husband around 6:45.   :( James was throwing up blood and had severely bloody stool.  I told the Husband to rush James to the Doggie ER, and I meet up with them not 5 minutes later.   James has a bacteria overgrowth in his intestines and is hemorrhaging [...]
