Ally Katzz Tween Summit

Let’s get our Tween on! I am so excited to be speaking at this event today.  The room is packed with tweens and their mentors (parents). My presentation is for the parents, and I go on stage at 10:45.  I’m speaking to the parents about Operation Beautiful and issues that impact their girls, such as [...]

Hello, NYC!

This is the view from my hotel room: Beautiful, I know. :)   Well, I’ve arrived and I’m alive.  I actually had a nice flight.  I read Runner’s World (the November issue was awesome).  And I read this book about the Michael Vick dogs, which was overwhelmingly sad and depressing.  But interesting! Airport food: A [...]

Supahard

It’s really too bad that Kath moved from Charlotte the month I moved to the city!  I’ve “known” her since she started her blog (I was a voracious commenter - “CaitlinBo”), and we became in real life friends about two years ago when I started my blog. She’s really fun and sweet.  I am very [...]

Girl Talk

Tonight’s Operation Beautiful presentation was so much fun.  :)  The event was held in a renovated dairy barn in Fort Mill, South Carolina and more than 120 people attended, including lots of moms and their daughters.   It was such a scenic setting, complete with horses and hay.  :) There were four presentations.  The first [...]

Someone Else’s 20 Miler

This week’s long run was suppose to be 18 miles (per the training plan I created for myself) but I kind of always knew that it would really be a 20 miler.  After all, I’m only 3 weeks out from my marathon, and it’s pretty much now or never!   For my first (and only) [...]

Worth It

What dreams do you want to achieve?  What things have you ticked off your bucket list?   One thing I really want to do is visit the Grand Canyon!

Big Cities

Good evening, friends! Pretty good day up in here.  I spent the afternoon and evening preparing for two Operation Beautiful presentations.  One is in South Carolina (Fort Mill) on Friday, and the second one is on Sunday morning in New York City!  It’s going to be an insanely short in-and-out trip.    Confession:  New York [...]

Cures for Sluggish Runs

Got my run on this morning with a really lovely (and slightly speedy) 5.0 miler.  I wrapped up the distance in 47:45 (an average pace of 9:33).  Wahoo!  I’m really appreciating the cooler North Carolina weather.  Bet it’s hot as all hell right now in Florida.   Pre-run snack: Post run lunch of leftovers: Leftover [...]

Morning, friends.  :)    The return of OATMEAL!   Oh, oatmeal. I’ve missed you.  Normally, I buy oatmeal in 5 pound bags from Costco (and therefore basically never have to buy oatmeal), but I recently ran out and could NOT remember for the LIFE of me to pick up oatmeal at the store.  I think [...]

A Desire to Bake

The weather here is absolutely perfect.  The Husband, the dogs, and I spent nearly the entire evening on our patio, watching the sun set and the street grow quiet. We even ate dinner out on the patio.  Y’all know how obsessed I am with outside dining / patio action in general.  It was lovely.   [...]

Mini Santa Fe Casseroles

Cheesy, hearty, flavorful – the Santa Fe Casserole is hands-down my favorite recipe, ever.  And I love the mini version of it even more (because it’s more fun to eat and easier to freeze!). Here’s the recipe for the original casserole, which I’ve been cooking with my mom since I was about nine years old.  [...]

Something SWEET and something SPOOKY for you this morning!   Sweet: A toasted quinoa bowl!  I love to toast raw (yes, raw) quinoa as an alternative to oats or granola.   Here’s how I made today’s toasted quinoa.  Also in the mix:  pecans, canned pumpkin, vanilla Greek yogurt, and chia seeds.   Now… something spooky!   [...]

I was so happy to coach Girls on the Run today!  Seeing those sixteen girls lifts my spirits so much.  I hugged a bunch of them today and said I missed them SO much last Tuesday (I was in Florida for a family emergency).    Want to know the hardest part of being a coach [...]

Call for Costumes!

Majority rules!  Thanks for everyone who commented on the great dog poop debate this morning – it seems that I’m in the wrong.  The Husband’s policy is now official family decree.  :)   I had a pretty busy morning playing catch-up on work.  Being away last week due to the family emergency has really thrown [...]
