Stroll Along

in All Posts

My walking buddy and I did a wonderful stroll this morning.  Dare I saw that it was a little chilly outside?

With the cooler temps, even Maggie is tempted to join us.  She overheats (and freezes) very easily because she’s so low to the ground.  So Fall and Spring are her favorite times of the year.

Until then, she’s staying home, curled up on the couch.

In my continuing effort to lay off the coffee, I have to say – walking in my savoir!  I was so groggy this morning, but a few laps around the block in the cool, misty air really woke me up.  Or that’s what I’m trying to tell myself.  Whatever.

Came home to a delicious French Toast breakfast…  We’re all out of maple syrup, so I used sunflower butter, agave nectar, and strawberries to jazz it up.

Tonya’s Fight

I spent all morning talking with my neighbor, Tonya, about her current health status (here’s the back story of her brain tumor diagnosis).  She continues to improve as she comes off the anti-seizure medication.  But her family is still struggling with a pile of medical bills and nannying costs.

Callie’s family has created these fun Operation Beautiful-inspired license plates.  They’re only $10.  Sales of the plates will directly benefit Tonya’s family!

You can read more about the fundraiser on Callie’s blog.   Thanks again for all the emotional, spiritual, and monetary support you’ve given to Tonya!  It means a lot to her and is very much appreciated.

I love the idea of a walk to help wake up in the morning – but I still don’t think I’d last very long without coffee!

It’s wonderful how you’re continuing to help Tonya and her family.

I think a morning walk this time of the year is such a great idea. I’m going to seriously try to pry myself from bed to do that!

I totally agree that a little movement outside does wonders to wake the body up!!! I tend to have the best days when I get my bootay out of bed early for a run or walk!

Wow, your breakfast looks lovely! It’s getting pretty chilly here too.. I’m definitely going to have to get used to grabbing a sweater/jacket on my way out the door again! Those license plates are great! 🙂

  • Leanne (Bride to Mrs.) September 14, 2011, 11:57 am

Poor little maggie! She’s such a doll 😉

It’s realyl feeling like Fall where I live.. the air is so crisp in the morning and late evening… but I prefer it that way, so I’m happy!

Other then walking, what else is helping you kick the caffeine habbit?

  • Ellie@fitforthesoul September 14, 2011, 12:01 pm

Quick thought about fundraising with Op Beautiful stuff – do you have a zazzle account? Another one of the blogs i read sells tshirts and cards and bags with random funny lines and pictures from her blog and while its not going to replace a career, I think she makes some decent side money from it. Just a thought!

Haha the best way to wake up quickly for me is to have a test and a burning need to finish studying before I have to take it 😉 The coffee doesn’t hurt, either! I drink it for my brain 🙂

  • Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife September 14, 2011, 12:19 pm

Walking in the morning is THE best!

I just bought syrup, can’t wait to try it (it is sugar free–b/c I hate too much sugar in the a.m., so we shall see. Hehe)

  • katie @ KatieDid September 14, 2011, 12:24 pm

That’s an awesome idea to spread the O.B. love! Tonya is a fighter 🙂

  • Kristin September 14, 2011, 12:33 pm

Those OB plates look so cute, but I’m pretty sure fake plates like that are illegal in several states.

  • Katie @ Peace Love and Oats September 14, 2011, 12:34 pm

what a good idea – license plates to help AND spread the message! If only I had a car… haha

  • marian @ marianwrites September 14, 2011, 12:42 pm

And happy to hear that Tonya is doing better! She’s lucky to have a friend like you!

  • Amber K September 14, 2011, 12:52 pm

It went from being 95 one day to 65 the next, it’s definitely fall now! I wish there was more of a transition, but at least I’m not dying without an A/C anymore!

  • amanda September 14, 2011, 12:58 pm

  • Kayla September 14, 2011, 1:22 pm

  • Hillary September 14, 2011, 1:52 pm

No lie, I feel the same way about a morning walk. I can’t get out that early during the school year (I get to school by 6:40 every day, and it’s way too dark to walk when I wake up!), but this summer I made sure to go for lots of “early” walks. I felt so much more peaceful and refreshed!

  • kathleen @ the daily crumb September 14, 2011, 3:10 pm

my day has not started until my morning walk with the pups. it really does make all the difference in starting my day off on the right foot.

thanks for the update on tanya… prayers as always.

    “walking in my savoir”

The motto of the decaffeinated! 🙂

  • kristen September 15, 2011, 11:40 am

love the plates! Unfortuantly here in MO we have to have a plate on the front AND back otherwise we get ticketed (bummer I knwo) but if I think of a use for the plate I will defiantly get one- they are really cute (so I might just get one haha)
And I alway walk from the parking garage to work. Which is about a ten min walk, but it defiantly wakes me.

  • Sophie @ threetimesf September 15, 2011, 12:48 pm

It was a little chilly here this morning too, but the sun has been shining all afternoon – Lovely! 😀
