I received a truly awesome Christmas present in the mail today from Spa Bettie!

She made customized Maggie and James Christmas tree ornaments.  Is that not the cutest thing EVER?

See the resemblance?  Wink, wink!

I think Kristina is going to do a step-by-step post tomorrow on how she made the doggie ornaments over at her blog!

After opening that totally heart-warming present, I participated in two long conference calls and made myself, my father-in-law, and the Husband lunch.

Hummus and spinach sandwiches:

And nuts:

Then, I drove all the munchies over to the clinic, and Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขm now checking in patients and organizing the desk.  It looks like paperwork vomited all over *my* space while I was away this morning.  Hmm.

  • Jackie @ Baking Charms December 20, 2010, 2:36 pm

  • Gabrielle @ Weightless December 20, 2010, 2:41 pm

  • Chrissy (The New Me) December 20, 2010, 2:41 pm

Those ornaments are amazing! What a great idea. I have two enormous black dogs – I might have to adapt this idea for them!

  • Amanda December 20, 2010, 2:41 pm

  • Sarena (The Non Dairy Queen) December 20, 2010, 2:45 pm

My boys painted ornaments for us and I love them. I used to be all about a fancy tree when I had my first Christmas trees, but now I really love a natural looking tree (even if it is fake) with homemade ornaments! I love the dog ornaments. My cats keep getting in my tree, so I have living kitty ornaments in there!

  • Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday December 20, 2010, 2:45 pm

Wow Spa-bettie, those are soooo cute!

    How did you make them?

    • Kristina @ spabettie December 20, 2010, 2:52 pm

I’m working on a tutorial post – it’ll be up on my blog tomorrow! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Amalfi Girl (EatRunHaveFun.blogspot) December 20, 2010, 2:50 pm

I love to give home made cookies as presents. Not the most original, but it’s a cliche for a reason. Namely, YUM. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Kristina @ spabettie December 20, 2010, 2:52 pm

so happy you like them… you know Maggie is one of my favorite dachshunds out there in blog land ! <3

    those ornaments are so adorable!!!

  • Bethany December 20, 2010, 2:55 pm

I love those doggie ornaments and have a friend with two tiny dogs and I’d love to make some for her next year.

This year I have given my homemade apple butter, made crocheted and fabric coozies, made soy candles and pumpkin bread.

I recieved in the bloggy ornament gift exchange I participated in a beautiful handmade quilted ornament with the sweetest message from the girl who sent it to me. Even though I don’t know her it totally made my heart smile to get something handmade from someone else (since I often give handmade stuff myself).

  • Evan Thomas December 20, 2010, 2:57 pm

    Bettie is a genius.
I was thinking of making bark as a present, but instead I just made it for myself and have been eating it all afternoon. Merry Christmas to me ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Brittney December 20, 2010, 2:57 pm

LOVE them! And I love Kristina ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Carrie (Moves 'N Munchies) December 20, 2010, 2:57 pm

I made a painting for my parents, which I know they will love!

  • Anna December 20, 2010, 3:00 pm

Most of my gifts this year are homemade… one of my favorite gifts is homemade notecards. I take vintage illustrated books and cut out words and pictures, then apply them to cardstock and make pretty cards.

  • Amy December 20, 2010, 3:07 pm

I didn’t handmake this gift, but it was the best Christmas present I’ve ever given…I participated as a donor on this: http://thebloggess.com/?p=9493 and I have never felt the Christmas spirit more in my life. It’s amazing!

LOVE those pup ornaments…so cute! ๐Ÿ™‚ I wish I was that talented!

  • Lauren December 20, 2010, 3:08 pm

I made my boyfriend a mini-scrapbook of our last year together. I put it together while counseling scrapbook camp this summer (ha, we have such fun, random camps at the summer camp I work at) and gave it to him for our one year this past summer.

  • Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) December 20, 2010, 3:15 pm

    Those ornaments are so cute!

  • Ashley December 20, 2010, 3:22 pm

Those are adorable! This year I made three blankets, a sleep mask, and a personalized jewelry box.

  • JenATX December 20, 2010, 3:31 pm

None yet! But I am going to make OSG power truffles for my boyfriend’s family. I think homemade presents are so meaningful ๐Ÿ™‚

Your dogs are awesome! So cute : )

  • Samantha-The Life Abundant December 20, 2010, 3:47 pm

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the ornaments! We finally put our ornaments on the tree last night and I was commenting that Molly (that is our daschound) doesn’t have an ornament after 5 years and we need to get her one. Does spabettie sell them or is it a just for fun thing?

    • Caitlin December 20, 2010, 3:50 pm

      I’m not sure!

  • Amanda- The Nutritionist Reviews December 20, 2010, 4:45 pm

I love those! I have two dachshund ornaments myself. In fact, one of my dachshunds is eating a candy cane right now that she stole out of my purse (grr..little rascal!).

  • Tiffany @ Conor & Bella December 20, 2010, 4:48 pm

Cute ornaments! I found a knit Dachshund ornament from Crate and Barrel (I think?) last year and I just HAD to buy it. Love dachsies!

Anyway, earlier today I received a package from my parents who live in a different state and my mom sent me my fave homemade anise cookies! I was so surprised and delighted!

  • Ann @ Day by Day December 20, 2010, 4:58 pm

Well I haven’t been great at making anything this year, but last year I made my Mom a kind of chronicle of her time in Paris visiting me while I studied there. It was a picture book of our journey complete with a funny poem (kind of poking fun of how silly/clueless we were together and how much fun we had). She loves it!

  • Baking 'n' Books December 20, 2010, 5:21 pm

    I love this title.

I also want to eat lunch with you one day.

And I am making carrot-cake muffins for my staff…if they can survive me first…;)

  • vanessa December 20, 2010, 5:25 pm

Maggie’s ornament is too much, I Iove it!

On a side note, the bread looks fantastic (full of grains), what kind is it/where do you buy it?

    • Caitlin December 20, 2010, 9:19 pm

its from la brea and is sold at harris teeters!

      • vanessa December 21, 2010, 6:02 am

        Fantastic, thank you!
Bread with a proper crust is so hard to find and that bread looks like it has one!

  • nicole December 20, 2010, 5:26 pm

Those are too cute! I know my mom would love some of her dogs.
My friends and I just had a little gift exchange last night, and one of them made adorable picture frames with inspirational messages.

  • Erica December 20, 2010, 5:33 pm

oh my goodness! How cute are those! ALMOST as cute as the real thing ๐Ÿ˜‰ I always give homemade baked goods to friends and families. Outside of that, I’m not too crafty ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hope your week is treating you well

  • Laura (Starloz) December 20, 2010, 5:51 pm

awesome gift, i havent opened any yet

  • Ellen @FirednFabulous December 20, 2010, 6:34 pm

  • Katie @ peacebeme December 20, 2010, 7:02 pm

I LOVE those!!!! I want a basset hound one! Sorry, I get realllly excited about dogs.

I made jars of homemade hot cocoa mix, and tea towels with animals sewn onto them with different colors of cloth. I made an elk for my boyfriend’s mom and a golden retriever for my mom. I also handmade over 30 Christmas cards. I was crafty this year, it was actually really fun and I want to keep it going.

  • Lacey @ Lake Life December 20, 2010, 7:03 pm

Those ornaments are so cute and thoughtful!

  • Cindy December 20, 2010, 7:17 pm

I’m the most uncrafty person in the world, but I think my girlfriend made me a scarf for Christmas. She is to sweet.

I would love to see how to make those ornaments so I can make one of my precious Sasha.

  • Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin December 20, 2010, 7:33 pm

Oh my gosh, those are the cutest ornaments ever! What a thoughtful gift!

I’m just planning on baking my friends’ favourite treats to give them for Christmas.

  • Dynamics December 20, 2010, 8:32 pm

Yesterday I made my special white chocolate candies for my daughter. So easy. This year I was able to find miniature VEGAN marshmallows.

  • Jacalyn December 20, 2010, 9:21 pm

I like to collect photos throughout the year of my family and make each unit their own framed collage. There are 4 of us girls in my house, all married, all with kids – thats a lot of photos.

    • Jacalyn December 20, 2010, 9:22 pm

not ALL in one house, obviously. ; P

  • Laurie December 20, 2010, 9:36 pm

Those ornaments are truly adorable. For me the biggest drawback about not celebrating Christmas is missing out on the ornaments. Most of Christmas I am fine to miss out on, but there are some cool ornaments out there. The other day at the running store I saw a pink ball (I think that is what you would call it, you know the regular round ornaments) that said “Swim Bike Run” I had to buy it for my friend because it just had to be bought!

  • Coco December 20, 2010, 9:56 pm

I graduated from college this semester, and my roommates made me a scrapbook of photos and memories. It is the best Christmas/Graduation gift EVER!

  • Nicole @ yuppie yogini December 20, 2010, 10:30 pm

My doggie ornaments have been out-done!

  • Amber K December 20, 2010, 11:13 pm

I usually make Christmas cookies for presents since I can never afford to get anyone anything. This year to be gluten-free I’m making fudge and candy. It’s a new experience, although a very tasty one!

  • Ali @ Food, Fitness, Fashion December 21, 2010, 11:34 am

Oh my goodness!!! Those ornaments are adorable! I love, love, love them ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Katie December 21, 2010, 6:00 pm

Ohhh the ornaments are just too cute! For Christmas this year, all of the Weddingbee blogger girls did an ornament exchange – I crafted a reindeer out of wine/champagne corks, and the one I received was a hand sewn pillow with buttons (my Weddingbee moniker)! It was so sweet to give/receive handmade treats!

  • Jolene (www.everydayfoodie.ca) December 21, 2010, 11:30 pm

    Those are SO FREAKIN Cute!!!!
