The Face

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Is there green beer in your future?  A shot of Irish whiskey?  A parade?  A pinch?

Unfortunately, none of my green shirts fit over BabyHTP, so I don’t look quite as festive as I usually do.

I am very much enjoying Saturday, and I sure hope you are, too.  I slept in, made a delicious breakfast, and took the pups for a walk.

That would be a Grilled Banana Sandwich with Greek yogurt and chocolate chips on top.  So good.

And then, I met my friend Dion for coffee.  She’s a news anchor and has so many interesting stories to share about the behind-the-scenes reality of being on the local news.  Dion tried to teach me ‘news anchor faces’ to accompany stories, but I wasn’t very good at it.

Check her ‘house fire’ face compared to mine.

She looks concerned, I look confused.  She looks like, “Oh my, you poor person, your house is on fire. That is truly terrible.”  I look like, “WHAT IS FIRE?!”  Hah.  I’m stickin’ to writing.

I love lamp.

Lunch – another form of sandwich.  I’m telling you, I can’t get off this veggie burger kick.  Send interesting groceries, STAT!

A little light because I’m off on another friend date with Nicole.  We’re going to eat cupcakes.  Yum.  Putting on my dessert face! <— One expression that I’m quite good at.

Yay dessert face! That banana sandwich makes me want one BAD. Like right now.

i say why mess with a good thing… especially when it comes to food! happy st. patrick’s day to you and babyHTP!

  • Alyssa @ Fit and Fun in Third March 17, 2012, 1:53 pm

Hahaha your face is hilarious in that picture. She’s had practice though, no fair! Enjoy your St. Patrick’s Day! 🙂

  • Callie @ The Wannabe Athlete March 17, 2012, 1:57 pm

Haha. She really IS good at the news anchor face!

  • Avery @ YoungAspirations March 17, 2012, 2:43 pm

Hahaha. Your explanation of the different faces had me cracking up! Must be a real news anchor talent!!

  • Katie @ Peace Love and Oats March 17, 2012, 2:54 pm

Maybe I need to try one of these veggie burgers if they’re so good! And no green beer for me, it’s not gluten free!

  • Christine @ BookishlyB March 17, 2012, 4:33 pm

You friend looks like a total news anchor- so polished and professional! Friend dates are seriously the best. Husbands are great, but sometimes being with the girls is needed.

We went to a parade today but it wasn’t great. The parade itself was nice but adults kept pushing in front of us and they stood up the whole time so our kids couldn’t see. Some adult women in front of us kept taking all of the beads that were thrown (including going so far as grabbing a strand away from a pregnant woman holding her 2 yr old that was with our group). It was still fun but not the best parade we’ve been too. Maybe if we didn’t have the kids with us and had been downing green beer it would have been better?

  • Christena March 17, 2012, 5:32 pm

Hahaha! Your expression (and commentary) cracks me up. So apparently news anchors really are that pretty in real life. 🙂 I hoped it was just some camera trick, makeup, and perfect lighting. 🙂

Your “what is fire?!” face is amazing. I would say it’s your best picture yet, but the other day you had that photo of Maggie and James snuggling and that clearly wins.

I hope they were green cupcakes 😀

  • Laura @ She Eats Well March 17, 2012, 6:19 pm

Um hello. Your breakfast looks amazingly delicious. You are quite good at breakfast ideas, I must say!

  • Ali March 17, 2012, 7:00 pm

hahahaha! Your concerned face is priceless!
I’ve been eating morningstar chik patties every night. I can’t get enough!

  • Katie @ Talk Less, Say More March 17, 2012, 7:19 pm

Veggie burgers are so good though!! But I was thinking of some butternut squash soup for dinner. Thank you trader joes so all I have to do is pour it out of a box! 😉

  • Stephanie @ Legally Blinde March 17, 2012, 7:40 pm

Ooh, I love banana sandwiches + Greek yogurt + chocolate chips, but I’ve never thought to combine them – looks fantastic! Hope you enjoyed your cupcake 🙂

  • Eve March 17, 2012, 9:25 pm

Oh my god, busting up over your face + commentary. You are hilarious!

  • allpointswhole March 17, 2012, 9:30 pm

My runner girls and I did a really fun St Patty race today!?

  • Taylor @ Nuts for Apples March 17, 2012, 11:55 pm

I feel like greek yogurt can make anything taste more decadent! Pretty envious of your cupcake tasting today, that looks so delicious!

  • Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin March 18, 2012, 8:15 am

I’ve been all over veggie burgers lately too! I’ve had 4 already this week. 😛

  • Mica March 18, 2012, 8:47 am

I just laughed out loud at your “house fire” face–not at you, but with you! That’s definitely the same face I would make. I can’t even frown correctly!

  • Amber K March 18, 2012, 1:50 pm

I am the worst at showing concerned faces too. In fact, I often find myself too worried about what I’m conveying across my face instead of whatever it is that I’m listening to. I’ve got to work on that!

  • Jill March 18, 2012, 2:16 pm

Are those the bombay burgers from Dr Praeger. Love those burgers!

  • Lea @ Healthy Coconut March 18, 2012, 3:35 pm

Thanks for the sharing the pictures of your faces….What is FIRE face? is so hilarious, lol! I’m laughing by myself here.

  • kimmy March 18, 2012, 10:09 pm

I have the worst cold known to man, and you totally made me laugh, so thank you!

  • Wendy Heath March 19, 2012, 12:56 am

I laughed so hard I woke up one of my residents here at work. OOPS! But worth it. 🙂

  • Heidi - Apples Under My Bed March 20, 2012, 6:06 pm

Just had to say, this has been one of my most favourite posts of yours. Not sure why – fairly sure it’s to do with my mood right now. But also fairly sure a lot has to do with the whole “news reader face” thing. hilarious. “you ate a whole wheel of cheese? I’m not even mad. that’s amazing”.
