Long Day

in All Posts

Tonight, my father-in-law and the Husband got professionally photographed for the clinic’s soon-to-be re-vamped website.  I was in charge of straightening ties and lab coats and being the acupuncture model.

(The Husband was fluffing his eye lashes. He has the longest, thickest red eye lashes.  I am jealous of them!)

We got home REALLY late so I’m ready to drop.  Yawn!

Maggie had a rough day, too.

Here’s today’s delicious afternoon + evening eats, really fast:

Hummus and crackers:

It was as good as it looks!

AMAZING broccoli quiche:

Fresh fruit:

+ a iceberg lettuce salad.

Pretty good, huh?  It was the most satisfying meal.

Time for some Grey’s Anatomy and snuggles with Maggie on the couch.

Yummy! That quiche looks delicious. I hope you’ll share the website one it’s updated!

Eye lash fluffing?!?!?! That is hilarious! What a problem to have…

  • Madeline - Greens and Jeans January 6, 2011, 9:33 pm

    yawning maggie = flipping adorable.

  • Kristy @ KristyRuns January 6, 2011, 9:34 pm

    EYE LASH FLUFFING!!!!

  • Whitney January 6, 2011, 9:35 pm

I always comment about how hard my dogs have it. It must be so difficult to lounge around and sleep all day!

  • jen @ taste life January 6, 2011, 9:35 pm

It drives me nuts when men have gorgeous eyelashes! My sweetie’s are not only long, but they curl naturally! What gives??

  • Gabby (Quest for Delicious) January 6, 2011, 9:36 pm

I find that a lot of the guys in my life have enviable eyelashes. Not fair.

  • Kristina @ life as kristina January 6, 2011, 9:43 pm

Those pics of Maggie are so stinkin’ cute-love pup pictures! Hope the shoot went well:)
Enjoy greys-everyones texting me that they’re balling so i’m scared to watch-i’ll be a hot mess!

  • nicole January 6, 2011, 9:48 pm

You take the cutest doggie pictures!

When I saw your tweet about Take-Out I thought for SURE it was going to be Chinese. I was wrong!

  • Blog is the New Black January 6, 2011, 9:51 pm

    I want my brother’s eyelashes!

  • Kristina @ spabettie January 6, 2011, 9:51 pm

    ah, Sweet Maggie.

  • Jess January 6, 2011, 9:55 pm

Been noticing lots of typos or wrong words in your posts lately! Not pickin’ on ya, just sayin’. It’s kinda like *********…. I know she changed her name but you can see that I stopped reading her blog because it makes for a very unpleasant reading experience when you read everything she wrote twice.

    • Marie-Journey to Body Zen January 6, 2011, 10:03 pm

We all make mistakes :). I make typos on my blog all the time…even when I spell check the darn thing :). Whoopsie daisy!

    • Chelsea @ Strawberry Sweat January 6, 2011, 10:11 pm

I understand your displeasure (I’m not one for typos either), but I don’t read blogs as I would a novel or some other piece of literature. As long as I can understand what the blogger is saying, no worries here 🙂 I read Caitlin’s blog for tips on healthy living and exercise, not with an eye for grammatical errors or typos.

    • alla January 6, 2011, 10:21 pm

I agree with Jess. It is very distracting when you are mentally correcting errors. Might have to move on…

      • Caitlin January 6, 2011, 10:56 pm

Sorry girls. Sometimes it’s hard to catch your own errors. 🙂 I only caught one mistake in the post, though. So maybe you can point them out when I make them?

        • Kara January 7, 2011, 8:46 am

As an English major (ungrad) and a writing instructor at the local community college, I usually see typos. I have to say that I didn’t even notice any in this entry or in general in Caitlin’s writing. I’m sure if I spent more time looking for them, I’d find them, but that’s not why I read blogs. I admit I hate when bloggers use the wrong they’re/there/their and stuff like that, but I really don’t expect perfection.

I’m not even going to delve into the irony of the complainer using the phrase “not pickin’ on ya” while complaining about Caitlin’s command of the English language.

    • Nadine January 7, 2011, 5:56 am

Wow! That’s just plain HARSH. One of the things I try to teach my kids is that there are things that you may THINK that are best left UNSAID. To point this out is really against everything Caitlin stands for. If you were really trying to be helpful and not picky, it might have been more constructive to save it for a private message.

      • Caitlin January 7, 2011, 9:15 am

Eh, they just want a rise out of me, Nadine. Fortunately, I have the world’s thickest skin. 🙂 Support from nice people like you helps.

(I just re-read that five times for typos)

    • Alexia @ Dimple Snatcher January 7, 2011, 10:34 am

      It’s a blog…NOT a graduate thesis.

      • Alexia @ Dimple Snatcher January 7, 2011, 10:36 am

So I think that those of you who are looking for perfect writing aren’t going to find it on any blog anywhere. Look at the NY Times correction page for example…AND they have paid copy editors!

  • Maryann January 6, 2011, 9:56 pm

Maggie is a cutie! and the quiche looks delicious..

  • Baking 'n' Books January 6, 2011, 9:56 pm

    That looks seriously delicious!

I wish you had the recipes!

Do you ever tire of photographing what you eat all the time? Do you find it makes you more “mindful” of what you eat? I often think in 2 ways – that it could make one more obsessive, anxious and even guilty over what they eat (or limit it to only what will “look” good). Or it could help you to slow down. Or it could just be for photography and fun! 🙂

    • Caitlin January 6, 2011, 10:57 pm

It helps me be more thoughtful with what I eat, which for me is a good thing!

  • VeggieGirl January 6, 2011, 9:56 pm

OOOOH I want that quiche, please.

  • Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) January 6, 2011, 10:03 pm

My boys have the longest lashes from my husband. They are beautiful, but I am so jealous! Have a good night Caitlin!

  • Marie-Journey to Body Zen January 6, 2011, 10:06 pm

Maggie is the cutest little dog! I love the yawning pic. My parents have always had dachshunds, and I grew up with them. It’s so funny that I now have a great dane! lol

  • Chelsea @ Strawberry Sweat January 6, 2011, 10:09 pm

Take out is meant for long days. Somehow, you always make it healthy though!! My delivery meal is not so healthy tonight (pizza), but everyone needs a less healthy meal once in awhile 🙂

  • Michele @ Healthy Cultivations January 6, 2011, 10:20 pm

Does hummus and crackers satisfy your hunger? It seems like when I eat crackers, I’m no less hungry when finished than before I started.

    • Caitlin January 6, 2011, 11:05 pm

It helps when you add hummus!

  • Mary @ Bites and Bliss January 6, 2011, 10:25 pm

That’s cool they’re being photographed and all for the site. 🙂 Hope you have a great rest of the night!

  • ashleigh January 6, 2011, 10:25 pm

Wow your dinner does look really good! I would never think to get something like that for takeout!

  • Katy (The Singing Runner) January 6, 2011, 10:32 pm

My dad has long eyelashes too. It’s not fair! 😉

Your dinner does look really good! Much better than mine. 😉

  • maria @ Chasing the Now January 6, 2011, 10:36 pm

That quiche looks good. I have pretty long eyelashes, so I have to be careful what mascaras I choose because lengthening ones just make me look ridiculous.

  • Allison @ Happy Tales January 6, 2011, 10:52 pm

That’s really exciting about the professional pictures, looks like y’all are moving nicely along! Plus, your East BLVD location has got to be treatin’ you well. You all are very lucky!

  • Amber K January 6, 2011, 10:54 pm

That does look like a good meal! I hope you get some well-deserved rest tonight 🙂

  • Maddie (Healthy Maddie) January 6, 2011, 10:54 pm

    Awww Maggie is so cute!

  • carlee January 6, 2011, 10:55 pm

DANG! Dinner looks awesome! I am in direee need of about 72 hours of sleep.
Think I’m kidding? I’m not! lol

  • Stacy @ Every Little Thing January 6, 2011, 10:56 pm

Can’t wait to see the acupuncture website!

  • stephanie @ jobless in TX January 6, 2011, 11:00 pm

I love wiener dogs and am considering rescuing one. Do you find that Maggie barks a lot? I’ve heard that breed is rather “yippy” and am curious if that’s been your experience. Thanks!

    • Caitlin January 6, 2011, 11:03 pm

Maggie is barky when she is excited or someone comes to the door. But she’s a REALLY good pup otherwise. I love doxies, especially mixes!

    • caitie January 7, 2011, 7:29 am

i have a daschund and hes not yippy at all! he barks if our other dogs bark or if he hears something at the door, but other than that theres no real “yippy”ness to him! we love him:)

  • Sarah @ See Sarah Graduate January 6, 2011, 11:50 pm

The broccoli quiche looks so good!

  • Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) January 7, 2011, 12:10 am

i dont even like quiche that much but that brock quiche just steals the show! That and the fruit 🙂

And you being the acupuncture model…wow, what a job! That’s so cool!

  • Kate (What Kate is Cooking) January 7, 2011, 12:18 am

Boys always get the nicest eyelashes!

  • Jennifer January 7, 2011, 12:31 am

Hi Caitlin, I hope it’s okay I linked your blog to my site.

p.s. I love your blog! And your book!

    • Caitlin January 7, 2011, 9:30 am

Thank you so much Jennifer 🙂

  • Katherine @ Left Coast Contessa January 7, 2011, 12:32 am

I love quiche! Watching greys now… very intense!

  • Nathan January 7, 2011, 1:12 am

The picture of Maggie yawning is quite possibly the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Seriously.

  • Carin January 7, 2011, 2:12 am

Great that your hubby (and you) like his red eyelashes – I have red lashes and brows and get them tinted so that you can see them better – it’s amazing what a difference it makes!

Do you hope that your eventual baby (product of the “eventual pregnancy” previously discussed (!)) will be a redhead? I thought my kids would be, but no – apparently it’s common that it skips a generation.

    • Caitlin January 7, 2011, 9:31 am

I do hope we have red heads, or blondes 🙂 I was blonde as a baby. Redheads are cute!!!

  • Mandy January 7, 2011, 3:15 am

Alright, I apologise if this comes across as creepy, but is this you?

Yes! Did you recognize my knee sleeves? Great website, huh?

  • Lee January 7, 2011, 8:07 am

I am jealous of my husband’s eyelashes too. They are so long!

  • Hope January 7, 2011, 8:28 am

I love the picture of Maggie! She is adorable! 🙂

  • Kara January 7, 2011, 8:47 am

I’m surprised that you didn’t take the pictures for the clinic, your pics generally look professional!

    • Caitlin January 7, 2011, 9:31 am

I couldn’t do all the fancy lighting stuff. But thanks!

  • Marina January 7, 2011, 9:16 am

Maggie looks cute:) And I bet that blankie is the most comfortable ever!

  • Camille January 7, 2011, 9:19 am

    What a tasty dinner!

  • Stephanie January 7, 2011, 9:19 am

It must be the red hair! My husband is a red-head and has the most gorgeous eyelashes ever! He teases me while I’m putting on mascara or trying to curl the nonexistent ones I have. That’s love right there. 🙂

  • Alison @ Around the VeggieTable January 7, 2011, 9:24 am

mmmmmmthat dinner looked delish. Minus the salad. I bet it tasted delicious, but I have found that iceburg lettuce, while it can taste crisp and refreshing, rarely looks pretty when photographed. It’s not green enough I guess. Also, Maggie is totally adorbs. Nothing like cuddling your furbaby at the end of a long day 🙂

  • Kristyn January 7, 2011, 9:27 am

Hey Caitlyn! Hope you got great sleep after a long day!
So you like your Bell trainer? I’ve been researching it on Amazon…I’m thinking about getting it for my boyfriend for his birthday since he’s upset he can’t bike in the winter up here in the crazy northeast. It’s a great deal it seems. You’d recommend it? Your post about it sounded like you were loving every minute of it! It’s something he’d enjoy if he likes to watch NFL network on the treadmill then? Just to the bike, which he prefers. Have a great Friday!!

    • Caitlin January 7, 2011, 9:33 am

      I would HIGHLY recommend it!!!!

  • Dee January 7, 2011, 9:27 am

    Ooh dinner looked delicious!

  • Michelle @ Turning Over a New Leaf January 7, 2011, 10:07 am

My husband has the longest, thickest lashes, too! What’s the deal?? What do the boys get the pretty lashes? 😛

  • aubrey @ italktofood January 7, 2011, 11:15 am

mmmmm quiche! I think hands down, quiche is the best meal breakfast lunch or dinner.
