Bille Jean

in All Posts

Meet Billy Jean.  :)  We are dogsitting for our friends for the next three days – I am so excited because I lurve this dog.

She is 6 months old and weighs about 25 pounds.  She was rescued from the shelter about two months ago by Kayla and Brandon.  Kayla learned that Billie Jean was on death row – she had been at the county shelter for three weeks, and they were going to put her down!  :(  But Kayla got her in time, and the whole family (two people + 4 dogs) now lives happily ever after.

She is super sweet, SUPER food focused, very quiet, very awkward (long puppy limbs), and loves to cuddle.

James is not pleased.

It’s going to take some getting used to…

So – this afternoon I successfully ran 6.0 miles!  No foot pain, and I finished in just under one hour.  It helped that my friend Emma ran the last three miles with me!

We had to go into the clinic and I ate an apple and a glob of sunflower buttah.

And dinner was thrown together in minutes, in between dealing with dogs + cooking + packing… But it was good!  Whole wheat cheese tortellini, steamed broccoli, and pasta sauce.

And two bowls of cereal with almond milk (while watching The Office).  All that running made me hangry!

Off to play with the puppers.

How can I steal Billie Jean from Kayla and Brandon and get away with it?  Any ideas?  😉

Aww Billie Jean is SO cute. I want to adopt a dog so bad, but want to wait until I live in an apartment (or a house!) that’s not fully carpeted. I just feel like I’m asking for trouble if I get one now!

  • Marie-JourneytoBodyZen January 27, 2011, 9:44 pm

I love the name Billie Jean! Such a cute pup!

  • healthy ashley January 27, 2011, 9:45 pm

Yay! So excited you got your 6 miles in!

  • Alex @ Healing Beauty January 27, 2011, 9:52 pm

I can’t wait to adopt my own dog (I almost did this past weekend). My parents have a shelter dog and she is the best!

  • VeggieGirl January 27, 2011, 10:09 pm

    Aww cute pup! Lucky one.

  • Michelle January 27, 2011, 10:10 pm

What a face!!! James’ pouting is the reason I couldn’t get anothe pup. I feel so bad when my pup gets jealous!

  • Corrie January 27, 2011, 10:13 pm

Yum! What does the husband eat since he’s vegan?

    • Kim January 27, 2011, 11:21 pm

Yes, I’m curious if you and your hubby cook separate meals often?

      • Caitlin January 28, 2011, 7:00 am

He actually ate that pasta. He is not super strict and will occasionally eat cheese (like, once every two months) if he has nothing else to eat or I happen to make something like this. Most of the time, I cook vegan dinners for us or add cheese or whatever on mine but not his.

  • Kate January 27, 2011, 10:16 pm

The office was so funny! Ricky Gervais and Steve Carrell made my day 🙂

I may have missed it but whatever happened to the other missing pump you found? Did you find its owner?

    • Caitlin January 28, 2011, 7:02 am

Yes! He found his owner that night 🙂 Which was a good thing because he was chewing up the whole house!

  • Errign January 27, 2011, 10:17 pm

The British version of The Office is SO funny. Ricky Gervais is amazing.

I lurveee whole wheat tortellini – I think I’ll add them to this week’s shopping list!

  • courtney @ the granola chronicles January 27, 2011, 10:18 pm

  • Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete January 27, 2011, 10:23 pm

Oh Billie Jean is so sweet!!! Poor James though — he isn’t king of the castle with a bigger dog in the house!

  • Natalia - a side of simple January 27, 2011, 10:25 pm

Glad the run went well!! Now I’m off to try and get Michael Jackson out of my head… “Billie Jean…”

  • Sarah (Sarah Learns) January 27, 2011, 10:27 pm

billie jean is adorable! there is seriously nothing like a cute little puppy with their clumsy long limbs and their soft fur. ahh, all of these bloggers posting photos of cute puppies is giving me puppy-fever!

  • Parita@myinnershakti January 27, 2011, 10:29 pm

Yay for the 6 mile run!

So, I have a question. What does sunflower butter taste like? It sounds like something I would like, but I’m not sure.

    • Caitlin January 28, 2011, 7:03 am

It tastes just like creamed sunflower seeds 🙂 It’s good!

  • Maddie (Healthy Maddie) January 27, 2011, 10:30 pm

What a cute puppy! Why don’t you say she “ran away” 😉

  • Kristy @ KristyRuns January 27, 2011, 10:32 pm

  • Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) January 27, 2011, 10:33 pm

ahhh, now we’re talking. SF Butter is my fave! 🙂

  • maria @ Chasing the Now January 27, 2011, 10:35 pm

Too cute. Looks like you are going to get a short stint with three dogs after all. Maybe it will help you decide on whether a third is a good fit for your family?

    • Caitlin January 28, 2011, 7:03 am

I’m hoping this convinces the hubbers!

  • Sally January 27, 2011, 10:36 pm

For a split second, when I first opened the post and just saw that picture, I thought you guys caved and got a third dog! She has such an earnest face. I love that awkward puppy stage when their limbs and ears are too big for their body 🙂

  • monicanelsonfitness January 27, 2011, 10:36 pm

best photo ever. I like Billie Jean a lot!

  • kaity January 27, 2011, 10:36 pm

James is not unhappy..he just secretly has a crush on Billie Jean so hes pretending he doesnt really like her..when he secretly is in LURVE with her 🙂

    • Caitlin January 28, 2011, 7:04 am

      lurve is in the area!!!

  • Stephanie@Thorns Have Roses January 27, 2011, 10:36 pm

Billy Jean is the cutest name ever. I JUST discovered sunflower seed butter at TJ’s this past weekend. I’m about halfway through the jar now. I should have known it would be like crack. I’ve always loved the seeds!!

  • Maria January 27, 2011, 10:39 pm

    Cute doggie! And yummy dinner!

  • mindy @ just a one girl revolution. January 27, 2011, 10:43 pm

    Hooray for the run!!

  • Naomi January 27, 2011, 10:46 pm

Weird question, where did you get whole wheat tortellini? I was just at the store and looking for that, but no luck! I have looked at several places!

    • Caitlin January 28, 2011, 7:05 am

It’s in the refrigerated pasta section. If your grocery doesnt carry it, just as – they will usually get it! It’s by Buitoni

  • Katy (The Singing Runner) January 27, 2011, 10:48 pm

    Congrats on the run!!!

    Billie Jean is ADORABLE!!!!

  • Charlie January 27, 2011, 10:48 pm

Billy Jean is the cutest thing ever. Run away to South Africa and change your name :P.

  • Kristina @ spabettie January 27, 2011, 10:54 pm

AAAAWWWW !!! I love me some PUPS, and this one is CUTE! (sorry James… you are awesomely cute too… ) I love how James is sitting “in seclusion”, yet his ears are perked and he is looking… that won’t take long… 😉

YAY for no foot pain! I had an AWESOME pain free 3 mile run again yesterday!! I am not talking about it too much, as I don’t want to jinx it, but IT FELT GOOD !! 😀

  • Angie January 27, 2011, 11:05 pm

I haven’t had tortellini in forever! way to bring that back to me lol I forgot how great it is!

  • Sara @ OurDogBuffy January 27, 2011, 11:06 pm

That is one cute pup!! Aww! Let’s see, our goldfish, three cats and two dogs is way more than we can handle. (Reminds me of your three dog post … I’ve been behind on the blog and finally caught up today! Hooray!) Sometimes I think it’d be cool to have a third dog (I secretly and not-so-secretly want a Puggle) but then I remember how psycho I feel coming home to all the pets we have. I kind of miss the days when it was just one cat, one dog and one fish! Though Jasper is really little trouble. So with a third dog–I guess it depends on its temperament. If we had two dogs like Buffy–I’d really pull my hair out. Three like Jasper would be a piece of cake … 🙂

  • Jennifer January 27, 2011, 11:30 pm

Billie Jean is adorrrable!! I can’t believe she was gonna get put down =( Poor girl. I’m glad she got lucky and found a great home…I wish all dogs could be so lucky. Have fun with that cutie!! I’m a new follower of your blog and I just love reading your posts!!

  • Kate (What Kate is Cooking) January 27, 2011, 11:57 pm

That is SUCH a cute pup!!

  • Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin January 28, 2011, 7:52 am

Aww, how could anyone put down that cutie?! That breaks my heart. 🙁 Thank goodness Kayla got her in time!!

  • Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday January 28, 2011, 8:30 am

    Billie Jean is so adorable!
It’s funny that James isn’t pleased. Usually it’s the same-sex dog that feels threatened by a new dog.

  • Kara January 28, 2011, 8:37 am

I’ve always thought that if I could find a good dog to dog sit and my husband could see how life would 2 dogs is awesome that he’d finally agree to to letting me find another dog. I love that your friends saved Billie Jean, I hate the thought of such a cute face in a pound, let alone euthanized!

  • Alison @ Around the VeggieTable January 28, 2011, 9:18 am

Oh man, I wish Billie Jean WAS my lover. So cute!! 🙂

  • Brittney January 28, 2011, 9:35 am

Awww, she is totally adorable! 🙂

  • Amanda January 28, 2011, 9:36 am

What a cutie!!! I hope that picture alone motivates everyone to go and rescue a dog. 🙂

  • Evan Thomas January 28, 2011, 9:48 am

First the lost dog, now this one; I think the Universe is trying to tell you something.

  • Kim January 28, 2011, 10:22 am

What a cute pup! I had to adopt both of my cats from no-kill shelters because if I went into one with a death row I’d bring them all home, cats and dogs. (As a side note both of my cats would have been killed immediately at regular shelters since one has asthma and requires pretty expensive meds to keep it under control and the other one was a feral 4 month old kitten and required a lot of socializing and is even now very shy.)

  • Ali @ Ali Runs January 28, 2011, 10:27 am

What a cute pup! My boyfriend’s sister’s dogs name is Billy Jean. Until then I had never heard about it. Is it after the MJ song?

  • Kacy January 28, 2011, 11:08 am

Oh, so cute! I want a dddddoooogggggg!

  • Gwen January 28, 2011, 11:14 am

Your dinner is my EXACT dinner from two nights ago – the cheese tortoleni and broc. Almost brought the leftovers for lunch, but decided to do a salad cause I’m going to a fancy dinner! <3 Congrats on the pain-free run!

  • LIz January 28, 2011, 12:17 pm

Adorable dog! And she weighs the same amount as my cat….my cat who is currently on a diet. 😀

  • Clare @ Fitting It All In January 28, 2011, 12:24 pm

ADORABLE puppy! I love hearing stories about saved dogs. And what good practice to see if you want a third!

  • Hope January 28, 2011, 1:36 pm

As someone who spends her life rescuing dogs from NC and GA shelters, I would suggest telling them that there were over 100,000 dogs killed in NC shelters alone last year and that you will give Billy Jean and amazing home where she can help promote dog rescue/adoption once in a while through appearances on your blog, and they can rescue another precious life to fill the void she leaves in their home:)

  • Kathleen @ Kat's Health Corner January 28, 2011, 1:39 pm

Do you prefer sunflower seed butter over other kinds of nut butters?

    • Caitlin January 28, 2011, 4:15 pm

I do right now! Its my current fav.

  • Ashley @ Thefitacademic January 28, 2011, 1:56 pm
