When NO Exercise is Better Than Any

I feel so rundown.  Yesterday, I thought it might be emotional, but I'm definitely headachy, stuffy, and achy.    All through work, I did the internal debate in my head -- "Am I feeling well enough to workout?"   because I hate to miss a workout.  My personality means that I easily overextend myself (case in [...]

Cell Phones at the Gym – YAY or NAY?

So many of you asked what I planned to do with the dried hibiscus flowers! Well, I tried to steep one in a cup of hot water.  Hibiscus tea, anyone? It was alright. :) Any other suggestions?   Around 9:30, I became SO hungry. I really don't like eating a mid-morning snack (I'd prefer to [...]

Coma

I slipped into a coma last night and slept from 8:30 PM to 6:00 AM.  WOW.  Guess I needed the sleep!  I feel a little bit better this morning, but I kind of feel like I'm coming down with the swine flu (just kidding... kind of).   I woke up to two fun packages!   The [...]

The Precious Present

Today was a sad day.  Meghann and I drove to Tampa to honor Jenna's little brother and attend the Celebration of Life held in his honor. As you may have heard, Jenna's brother passed away unexpectedly last Friday.  I never had the pleasure of meeting John, but I wanted to attend the funeral in support [...]

Interview With Judy Molnar of Iron Girl

I was lucky enough to have an opportunity to interview Judy Molnar, the vice president of Iron Girl and a certified USA Triathlon coach. Iron Girl's mission is to empower women toward a healthy lifestyle.   Launched in 2004 with just two events, the Iron Girl brand has grown to now include ten events nationwide, varying [...]

Juice Beauty Giveaway!

I woke up at a ridiculous hour (5 AM) and started work at 6.   I am so overloaded on work right now!   When I wake up so early, I really have difficulty eating breakfast right away.  So I ate breakfast in parts.  First, I had a coffee around 5:30 (liquid crack!).  And later, I [...]

Back in the Saddle

Since I'm weighing the idea of a metric century bike race in June, I figured I should probably go for a ride tonight! :) I think my bike was happy to get off the porch and onto the road, too! :)   Running Hiatus Workout #10   I did a 10.5 miles.  There are no [...]

A Metric Century

I am excited about everyone's feedback on Project Glow!  Of course, everyone's skin is different, so what worked for Angela might not work for me or you.  But in general, I think ANYTHING is going to be better than my Irish Spring soap.  :)   I had some pineapple to hold me over through lunch [...]

Project Glow

Last week, I wrote Angela at Oh She Glows an e-mail whining about my sallow, uneven skin tone and breakouts.  "I'm 25!" I wrote.  "Shouldn't my skin be more... adult?!"  She asked me to describe my current skin care routine, and I must admit I blushed when I described my daily face scrubs with a [...]

Gratitude

Good morning!  How are you?    I've been dreaming of this breakfast! My 'base' was two Hodgson's Mills InstaBake waffles.  I added a tablespoon of ground flax to the batter for some extra Omega 3's!   I topped the yummy, warm waffles off with some Chobani vanilla yogurt, sliced strawberries, and blackberries. Holy YUM!   [...]

I Fell Off the Wagon

Is it weird to wear a running skirt to the gym? I just felt strange wearing a running skirt on the elliptical!  But, it was all I had that was clean!  :)  What do you think?   Running Hiatus Workout #9   Reading material for my workout: Yes... I am considering racing in another triathlon [...]

The Green Monster

Lunch was light yet satisfying today: I made a yummy cottage cheese wrap with some lettuce in a Flat Out Wrap: Plus a side of strawberries with a chopped carrot: Dessert was one of the amazing Medjool dates from Oh! Nuts: I just made my first mid-afternoon snack and it's -- surprise, surprise -- a [...]

Date Oatmeal

Good morning!  Thanks again for all the birthday wishes this weekend.  I had a very nice weekend, and I was ready to tackle work.... until I opened my inbox and saw 20 new messages, most of them related to work "fires."  Ugh!  Mondays!   Unsurprisingly, I woke up this morning without the slightest twinge of [...]

When my dad asked to take my friends and me out to dinner for my birthday, I jumped out the chance to go back to Royal Thai!  About an hour before we left, I had a bowl of fruit to hold me over: Thai was excellent!  I was joined by my Dad, Husband, Harry, and [...]
