So we spent the weekend in lovely Savannah.  I’ve never been to the city before, but it was so special and romantic. It would be a great girlfriend getaway town or place for a couples’ weekend!

The city was settled in 1733 and was a strategic port city in the American Revolution and Civil War. Savannah is filled with cobblestone streets, amazing architecture, and beautiful Spanish moss-filled trees.

We stayed at The Mansion on Forsyth, a classy boutique hotel across the street from the picturesque Forsyth Park. We spent our days at the Park, playing on the incredible playground, and exploring the riverfront area, which was packed with cute little shops and restaurants. We didn’t get to eat out too much, but we did really enjoy The Sentient Bean, a coffee shop with a ton of vegan food options (the curry tofu was the best).

Here are some pictures of our trip, including a bunch of our hotel!

We have plans to come back to Savannah soon for a trip – maybe an anniversary or special holiday? It’s truly such a great place!

My trip to Savannah was part of the ambassador program for the Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon and 5K. Thanks, as always, for reading sponsored posts!

I live in North GA and went to Savannah for this first time this weekend too! I loved everything except I wish it was 10* warmer!

I visited Savannah years ago with a bunch of my girlfriends. It was such an amazing trip and city. I cannot wait to go back with my family someday. I don’t know if you’ve ever read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, but reading after you’ve visited Savannah is great since you know some of the landmarks in the book. It’s a great book!

I want to go to Savannah soon! I’d like to check out Tybee Island too as I am a beach girl.

My husband and I went to Savannah just after Christmas through New Years for our honeymoon and adored it! We can’t wait to go back. We spent 8 nights there, which was perfect for taking the trip at a leisurely pace! When you go back, you should check out the variety show at the Savannah Theater on Chippewa Square – it was so much fun, and definitely family friendly!

Also – we stayed at the Foley House Inn which was pretty fab, and most of their rooms are pet friendly!

Looks like a fun trip! Henry looks so tiny in that big bed! haha I live about five hours from Savannah, but have never visited. Hopefully we’ll have a chance to go soon!

This city gives me such romantic vibes, and the playground is so huge and nice, would love to visit once.

I LOVE Savannah – I used to travel there for work all the time, and this post makes me want to take my husband there! PS – when did Claire get so BIG?!?!?

Seriously your kids are too freaking cute! Just so precious. I’ve always wanted to go to Savannah!

We absolutely love savannah too, and actually had our honeymoon there. When you go back, try to get into some of the Open City Tours. We took the midnight in the garden of good and evil tour, and Kelley really wanted to take the ghost tour. An open-air bus is actually a great way to see the city, and sometimes the guides get out and walk around some. Our tour went through Bonaventure cemetery, and the tour guide was writing a book at the time about graveyard iconology, which is fascinating.

What’s your sleeping situation like now with the two kids in a hotel room? We used to set up a pack and play in the bathroom and we all slept soundly. Now my toddler climbs out. She doesn’t sleep well with us in bed (she thinks it’s playtime!) I am traveling in a few weeks and i’m scared… haha. She’s almost 3. Any tips?

He will still sleep in a crib in a hotel. But I saw on dailygarnish.com Instagram that she had some sort of cool blow up air mattress for her son.

  • Laura March 31, 2015, 3:45 pm

Hi! Savannah looks amazing!!! I haven’t traveled to any hotels with my kiddo, but I was curious, do they provide a crib? Do you bring an air mattress for the toddler? I will be traveling this summer and I am not sure if most hotels have cribs. Also, any tricks for keeping the baby from waking the toddler? Thanks!!

    • Caitlin March 31, 2015, 4:18 pm

Most hotels have pack and plays or cribs. Henry still will sleep in a crib in a hotel. We usually book suites so we can close the door on one of them and put the other in the bathroom. Having a white noise app on your phone helps a lot!

Great, now I want a dark chocolate gopher…and I don’t even know what that is!

  • Julia @ LordStillLovesMe March 31, 2015, 8:30 pm

That trip sounds like so much fun! I cannot wait to have a little bit more flexibility in my schedule to be able to go on trips like this! Sounds like such a great time! Your photos are beautiful as always.

I’ve always heard lovely things about Savannah but I’ve never been myself! I really want to go though. It sounds (and looks) like a great spot for a fun weekend trip!
