I am having a very good day!  Things started off kind of wonky.  I was snoozing away when I heard, “Mommy? Mommy?” in a tiny stage whisper.  I whipped around to see Henry next to the bed (he’s never come into our room before!) and panicked because Claire was still asleep in the cosleeper <—she’s back next to me.  The nursery thing was killing me with her nighttime wakeups.  He said, “I broke my curtain,” and I went into his room to see this:

Arg. So fixing that is on agenda for today!

I had my Vega One smoothie (I am sooo into these things now), and then hustled everyone out the door.  Today was dress-up day at Henry’s school.  On Wednesday, he wanted to dress-up like a crocodile so I borrowed a friend’s dinosaur costume and told him it was a crocodile.  Close enough, right?  It totally worked.  He loved it!

Then I was off to boot camp.  You guys – I’ve made it to boot camp THREE TIMES this week! THREE TIMES.  And I swam 1200 yards yesterday.  I’m so proud.  These boot camps are super challenging for me, and sometimes I feel like I’m gonna die in the middle of class, but I try to hang tough.

70 tricep dips nearly broke my soul, especially after those 80 bicep band curls.  Oh, and it was a “team” workout so everyone waited (and by “wait” I mean did jumping jacks) until everyone else was finished before moving onto the next move.  And for the 60 second plank, if anyone fell down, we all had to start over!  I was scared I was going to be the guilty party – Claire destroyed my abs.  But seriously, I really like the group aspect of these workouts, and the instructors are so nice.  I’m glad I found this!

Post workout snack was some of these cookies I made yesterday – I’m not sure if I’m going to share the recipe because it’s not peeerfect.  But they are pretty good!  The base of the cookie is almond and chickpeas.  No flour at all.  Cool, huh?

After I showered, Claire and I went to see Julie.  She’s pregnant!  Boy or girl?!  I know, but I’ve been sworn to secrecy!

Can you tell that Claire has entered the drool stage and Henry is into sea life now?!

We had lunch afterwards.

I had black bean tacos with yummy globs of cheese sauce.

After lots of chatting, we parted ways so I could go pick up Henry.  We came home and did tummy time with Claire, which is actually one of Henry’s favorite things to do with her.

<3 <3 <3 Love these two.  I’m feeling really thankful and blessed lately.  My life is very full and very complete and I’m grateful for it all.

Hi Caitlin! Very long time reader, I have been reading your blog since See Bride Run, I love your personality and the way you live your life (at least the portion that you share). I also agree with most of the philosophies you apply, and totally love your parenting methodologies that you share here on the blog. With that said, there is no right or wrong in choosing how to parent your children, but since my boy is only one year younger (born on June 2nd 2013) than Henry I tend a lot to follow your advice since its so similar to what I would actually do, and honestly it helps that you do all the research and it saves me and a lot of readers time, so thank you for that!
I have a question, I noticed that Henry is still wearing diapers, what are your thoughts on potty training? We started to introduce Sebastian (he is 21 month now) very slowly, now he actually tells us when he filled his diaper, even if its after the fact, I think its such big progress that he is aware of what happened. My approach is to take it very slowly and let him dictate the pace, but was wondering what your plan and thoughts are on the subject?

    • Caitlin March 6, 2015, 4:17 pm

Same! I have no desire to rush him. He goes on the potty a few times a day or week depending but he is definitely not there. I would like him to ask for real underwear on his own instead of pushing him out. I’ll probably give him a few months and then decide whether to change my plan. I’m also just not personally in a rush! Potty training seems like a headache and a half.

Thanks for all the kind and sweet words. 🙂

Look at that leg extension! I see a future yogi 🙂

Your kids are adorable. Doesn’t Claire look a lot like your mother? I really think there is a strong resemblance (=long time reader:-) )

70 Tricep dips?!?!?!?! You amaze me. That must have been killer! Sounds like a great workout though. Hope you are having a fun weekend. 🙂

  • Rebecca March 7, 2015, 10:18 pm

They look so much alike in that last picture! So cute!!!!

  • Kathy March 8, 2015, 7:29 pm

Ha, love that Henry is doing a pretty tough yoga move like it ain’t no thang! Oh to be that young and bendy

  • Katie March 8, 2015, 8:16 pm

Caitlin, I’m curious if you know whether it’s okay to drink Vega One while pregnant? I just sent a message to my doctor to ask, but I’d be curious to know what you’ve heard. I just bought a big tub and would live to be drinking them!!

    • Caitlin March 9, 2015, 2:10 pm

I think the only potential issue would be that you could OD on some vitamins when you take a prenatal and drink the smoothie. Maybe bring in the label to show your doctor?

Can you tell us more about the Vega One shake? I start maternity leave in a week or so here and am looking for something to help me kick-start the healthy eating again. What led you to choose this formula? Do you use it as a meal replacement? One or two scoops? Vega One has not been on my radar so I’m curious — I trust your choices when it comes to these things!

    • Caitlin March 9, 2015, 2:09 pm

      Check this out: http://myvega.com/product/vega-one-nutritional-shake/

I use one scoop because that’s 20 grams of protein – I think two would taste really chalky and gross. I use it as a meal replacement when I add in fruit + a lot of peanut butter (otherwise it wouldn’t be enough calories). I really love it. Check out the link for details on its ingredients – its all real food.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I was reading the Amazon reviews and they seemed pretty split — but they were also very outdated and before Vega introduced their reformulated product. I’m glad to hear you like it so much!

  • Kendra S. March 9, 2015, 11:15 am

Caitlin, you are so dang cute! I love this post so much and your happiness is palpable. Motherhood looks good on you! 🙂

  • Rachel Starr March 9, 2015, 2:28 pm

I just had to comment on how utterly adorable Henry & Claire are 😀

  • Bobbie March 9, 2015, 2:42 pm

Claire is like your mini-me! They are so cute together!

  • Melisa March 9, 2015, 5:57 pm

    Hi Caitlin-
Would you consider doing a post on starting preschool? We are having such a hard time adjusting and it seems that it would be super helpful to hear about your experience and how Henry adjusted.
    Thanks!

    • Caitlin March 9, 2015, 7:08 pm

Sure, I will add it to my list!
