Hey, Chattanooga!  So nice to be here.  Even if just for a short time!

Speaking events are back in full swing!  I’m excited to get back out there and talk about Operation Beautiful (I normally do about 15 events a year; this year won’t be as busy because of Henry).  Speaking of the little man, we FaceTimed a few times to alleviate my momma bear sadness.

I had to keep reminding myself… You’re only going to be away for 20 hours.  Enjoy it!

The event went well…

My momma and her manfriend Dwight drove down from Knoxville to attend the event, too.  She brought a photo of Henry so he could ‘watch’ me do my thing.

All in all – a successful day.  Flight went smoothly, event was awesome, and I got to see MomHTP.  And now… I get to fall asleep, ALL BY MYSELF, in this comfy hotel room.

I’m going to sleep like a baby.  And by that, I am of course referring to the mythical babies that sleep through the night with virtually no interruptions.   Hoorah!

Hey Caitlin! I know 20 hours isn’t very long, but as a fellow breast-feeding momma I’m curious what you’re doing in that regard. Are you pumping while you’re away, or how are you handling engorgement? Just curious – I have to travel in October and still haven’t figured it out, myself.

    • Caitlin September 7, 2012, 6:24 am

Yeah pumping as I would feed normally! Pumping and dumping although you can bring as much milk through security as you want. I just have oversupply so it’s no big deal to ditch it.

I was wondering the same thing. I have also had to travel for work while breastfeeding but always less than 24 hours. Is Henry doing okay with taking a bottle? Hope you enjoyed your chance to sleep and take a short break from mommy duties. I am sure you can’t wait to get back to your baby boy.

i need to write a post on this but i have been almost exclusively pumping. henry is a bottle champ!

  • Sarah @climbinvegan September 6, 2012, 11:27 pm

That sounds great!!! Enjoy your peace and quiet for a night! I wish I could see one of your talks…

  • Carin September 7, 2012, 12:01 am

That room looks great! Glad the talk went well and you’re coping away from H.

How far away is Chatanooga from you? Just a short flight but a longer drive? Hard for us foreigners to have any idea of distance when the US is so huge!

    • Caitlin September 7, 2012, 6:25 am

Only 45 min flight but a 6 hour drive!

  • Laura @ She Eats Well September 7, 2012, 12:58 am

That hotel looks quirky, I like it! Enjoy your sleep…love Henry’s wide-eyes!

  • Katie September 7, 2012, 2:00 am

It’s 1:58 am. I’m up nursing my 9 wk old. And so jealous of your hotel room sleep. Though I totally understand missing the babe! I would too- though sleep is a nice consulation prize 😉

  • Noora September 7, 2012, 2:08 am

Henry is starting to look a lot like Kristien. Love his huge eyes! In the photo he’s almost like “Mom.. Seriously?”, while you’re smiling your heart out. 😀

  • Ellie@Fit for the Soul September 7, 2012, 2:09 am

hahaa you’re sure making me feel more grateful for baby-less sleeping! (for now) 😀

  • Army Amy* September 7, 2012, 2:19 am

What a fancy hotel room! I hope you were able to enjoy it and get some shut-eye!*

  • Dee September 7, 2012, 2:58 am

Enjoy your sleep! But, your boobs will let you sleep though the night?? I remember those days and I wouldve been in serious trouble if I didnt get up to pump. Hope it works out ok for you!

    • Caitlin September 7, 2012, 6:26 am

Well I crashed at 11 and woke up at 5 so I managed to get by without pumping at night. Thank god!

  • Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy September 7, 2012, 5:19 am

I’m glad you enjoyed the event 🙂

  • Elle September 7, 2012, 6:15 am

Hope you got some much deserved sleep!!
That hotel room looks fantastic! Is it possible to know the name of it? (or maybe not, to avoid using the blog as an advertising space?)

    • caitlin September 7, 2012, 11:50 am

      its called mayors mansion!

  • Anne September 7, 2012, 7:43 am

  • Mary September 7, 2012, 9:30 am

Henry’s face is SO cute in that picture 🙂

  • Joanne September 7, 2012, 9:52 am

That must be tough being away from Henry for the first time. It’s probably good for both of you especially since it’s only for a short time.
Congrats on a good event. Time for Henry hugs 🙂

  • Kate @ life's precious moments September 7, 2012, 10:00 am

I hope that you had a night full of uninterrupted sleep!

  • Christine @ BookishlyB September 7, 2012, 10:01 am

“Manfriend?” Hahaha! That so reminds me of the [not as good as the TV shows] Sex and the City movie when she calls Mr. Big that.

  • Katie @ Soulshine and Sassafras September 7, 2012, 10:41 am

    That hotel looks so fancy!

  • Annette@FitnessPerks September 7, 2012, 10:58 am

    ENJOY the rest!!

  • Sarah @ Yogi in Action September 7, 2012, 11:00 am

That is a beautiful hotel room!

Hope you slept like a mythological baby that sleeps all night!

  • Melissa September 7, 2012, 11:13 am

Before my little one finally started sleeping through the night (at, ahem, 9 months old) I seriously used to daydream constantly about having a hotel room to sleep in all by myself. Enjoy a great night’s sleep mama!

  • Jade September 7, 2012, 11:56 am

My goodness, I would have such separation anxiety if I had to leave my babes overnight with someone else (even if it is just daddy). I already do when I’m at work, I still can’t fathom over night trips although that will have to happen in the future but just not yet.

  • Ellen @ Wannabe Health Nut September 7, 2012, 12:20 pm

Glad the event went well and that you got some uninterrupted sleep! Love that hotel room. Was Henry confused when you FaceTimed? Did he seem to know it was you? I am so clueless as to how babies operate!

  • Allison September 7, 2012, 2:55 pm

LOL – “the mythical babies that sleep through the night”…yeah, where did that expression come from?
