Random story:  Yesterday, the Husband and I went on a long walk (waddle). All of the sudden, we hear this loud cracking noise, look up, and watch a huge tree just split down the middle and crash into the empty road.  No wind, no storms.  It just spontaneously fell over.  Weirdest thing I ever saw!  The best part is that while we stood there with out mouths hanging out, James just looked at the downed tree like, “Hmm. Whatever” and peed on a mailbox.

So – guess where I am?  Chapel Hill, North Carolina!  Last night, I road tripped with DadHTP about three hours outside of Charlotte.  He has an appointment in Chapel Hill, and I offered to help him drive.  In exchange for a Resee’s Blizzard, of course.

I had a nice hotel gym workout this morning… I had to bust out a few of my tricks from 7 Ways to Make Gym Cardio More Bearable.  Even 20 minutes on the machines does my head in.

I bounced around from the treadmill to the elliptical to starve off boredom.

20 minutes seems to be my workout sweet spot lately.  It’s the perfect amount of time to give me more energy, not sap the reserves that I have left.  Anything longer, and I feel exhausted!  But today’s workout was nice.

Love the shirt with bump and baby footprints! So cute! Reeses blizzards used to be my favorite kind 🙂 Nothing beats chocolate and peanut butter. I hope you have a wonderful day too! I’m off to give a presentation today (one of my last 3 assignments until I become a college graduate!!).

  • mindy @ just a one girl revolution. April 5, 2012, 8:29 am

And now I want a Reese’s Blizzard. YUM.

  • Leah @ Chocolate and Wild Air April 5, 2012, 8:30 am

I’ve always wanted to see Chapel Hill! Seems like a neat place

  • Sarena (The Non Dairy Queen) April 5, 2012, 8:36 am

I CAN NOT do machine cardio. It seriously is like being in the hubs of hell for me. I try to make it fun, but it just does not work.

Sounds like you got in some great father/daughter time! Enjoy the rest of your day Caitlin!

    • Jen April 5, 2012, 11:35 am

I can’t do the elliptical. Really, I flail around and can’t make it move! I hate treadmills too but they’re better than the 1/6 mile indoor track on nasty winter days. Thankfully it’s spring so I’m back to outdoor running!

      • Mildly Entertained April 6, 2012, 9:54 pm

I just can’t stand the gym! The noise, the crowds – it stresses me out. Unfortunately, I’ve suffered a running-ending injury 🙁 and am stuck!

  • Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat April 5, 2012, 8:38 am

I love your shirt Caitlin!! That was nice of you to drive with your dad – I’d do it for a Blizzard too. Skor is my favourite, closely seconded by Oreo!

  • Linz @ Itz Linz April 5, 2012, 8:40 am

I love your shirt! So cute!! Road trips with dads are always fun! 🙂

  • Molly @ RDexposed April 5, 2012, 8:42 am

Hate bad hotel breakfast options! This looks doable!

  • Army Amy* April 5, 2012, 8:55 am

Now I’m craving a Blizzard! I haven’t had one in ages. I guess I’ll be making a trip to DQ after work!*

  • Elisabeth April 5, 2012, 8:58 am

Now I really want a blizzard for breakfast…ha! I guess I know what my dessert will be tonight 🙂

  • kathleen @ the daily crumb April 5, 2012, 8:59 am

ooohhh blizzards. our dairy queen is only seasonally open (criminal, right?!), but opening day should be coming up soon!

  • Amy @Macncheesenpeas April 5, 2012, 9:04 am

I love your shirt with the baby feet on it! Super cute!

  • Shannon April 5, 2012, 9:18 am

No better treat on earth than the Reese’s blizzard. Good choice!

  • Faith @ For the Health of It April 5, 2012, 9:26 am

Your hotel breakfast looks awesome. For some reason I love those crappy omlettes they serve in Continental breakfast buffets!

  • Liz @ Tip Top Shape April 5, 2012, 9:28 am

That is so weird with the tree! Too funny about James!!

  • erica April 5, 2012, 9:29 am

Welcome to town! I live here! Ifyou are looking for a good vegetarian restaurant, check out The Spotted Dog in Carborro. It’s only 5 mins from campus.

  • Nicole G April 5, 2012, 9:36 am

Hate to be one of those people, but the phrase you’re looking for is “All of A sudden” not “THE” sudden.

  • Allison K April 5, 2012, 9:37 am

I am so with you on the 20 mins of exercise. At 36 weeks anything more feels really draining. Except for easy prenatal yoga. I can do about 40 mins of that…but it has to be easy.

  • Callie @ The Wannabe Athlete April 5, 2012, 9:38 am

Oooh! Chapel Hill – my old stomping grounds! If it’s still there, you’ll have to go find the Yogurt Pump. A staple fro yo place on Franklin Street!

    • Meaghan April 5, 2012, 10:29 am

I second that! I have to admit that sometimes I would visit YoPo twice in one day while at school at UNC!

  • Katie @ Peace Love & Oats April 5, 2012, 9:40 am

I guess you heard that tree fall in the woods! Haha and you are making me want a blizzard!

  • Caitlin @ This Bride's Joyride April 5, 2012, 10:07 am

Such a cute shirt! Ahh the one Dairy Queen within 20 miles of me doesn’t open until May. I want a blizzard so badly!

  • Wendy April 5, 2012, 10:11 am

You’re in town! Wahoo!! Wish I weren’t on crutches and we could meet up for lunch or dinner!!! For eats around here, definitely check out med deli (We love it so much… it’s our wedding caterer)!! Get the kirsir or a fataya from the bakery (turkish pizza)! Sage is really great too with persian flair. Of course, I love spotted dog being 3min walk from our house. Ohh my I can’t stop when I talk abt food.

  • Anne P April 5, 2012, 10:36 am

You’re in Chapel Hill?! Call me!

  • Editor Fairy April 5, 2012, 11:30 am

While “starve off” actually does make more sense to me too, I think the expression is “to stave off”.

Today’s tip was brought to you by a 5:30am gym session and far, far too much coffee. :p

  • Tammy Root April 5, 2012, 11:52 am

You’re in my old stomping ground!!! I wish I was still there – we could have met up. 🙂

  • Amanda Mae April 5, 2012, 11:54 am

This is such a weird question, but are you staying in a Microtel? I work at one, and I recognize that plate and those linens. And I think there is one in the Chapel Hill area. But maybe I am crazy?

  • Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed April 5, 2012, 12:19 pm

That’s crazy about the tree! I always see fallen trees around the trail we walk on and there’s on that fell recently across the trail… I was thinking, holy crap what if I was walking there when that fell?!

  • Jessica @ The Process of Healing April 5, 2012, 12:45 pm

That is SO weird! And James’ reaction is the BEST!

  • Tiff April 5, 2012, 1:09 pm

Not a bad hotel breakfast. Of course, I’m sure that Blizzard wasn’t bad either. 😉

  • Amber K April 5, 2012, 2:25 pm

I’m a McFlurry girl, but Reese’s are definitely the best! Have a great trip!

  • Laura @ She Eats Well April 5, 2012, 2:31 pm

Jealous of your blizzard. Not gonna lie.

  • rachel April 5, 2012, 3:15 pm

Ok, after two years of seeing it on your blog, I think I need to say something. Girl, it’s Reese’s. Not Resee’s. 🙂

  • Alex April 5, 2012, 6:25 pm

i love road trips when other people drive 🙂

especially when you end up somewhere cool like chapel hill!

  • Chetney April 5, 2012, 7:51 pm

My sister just moved from Chapel Hill! I have always wanted to visit!

  • katie April 5, 2012, 10:14 pm

Just wondering your thoughts on the new Vogue article about a mother putting her young daughter on a diet…

  • Jolene (www.everydayfoodie.ca) April 5, 2012, 10:46 pm

    Mmmmmm, I love Blizzards!!!
