First things first – I had lunch at a restaurant called… wait for it… Epic Buffet. I kid you not. And it was, in fact, an epic buffet.
Okay. I just had to get that out of my system.
Today was a great day. I flew to Lawrenceburg, Indiana for an Operation Beautiful event in honor of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (Operation Beautiful has been a NEDA featured organization for three years in a row now).
The event was organized by a woman named Paula, who has become a champion for NEDA after losing her adult daughter to an eating disorder. I am so totally inspired by people who can take a horrible situation and transform it into a vehicle for good for others. The world needs more Paulas.
The event itself went really well. I really dislike the process of traveling (I’m thinking of you, Miss Overly Perfumed on a 7 AM Flight…) but I have to say that I love giving presentations. It’s my favorite thing to do – I used to be so scared to talk in public; now I think it’s so wonderful to have the opportunity to connect with other people. Even if it is a little scary every now and then.
So, in other news, I think I actually managed to eat better today than I ever have on a travel day, which is extra nice because I’m back to having trouble sleeping. Veggies go a long way when you’re exhausted.
Epic Buffet spread – with a bowl of cottage cheese, too.
(Randomly, the Epic Buffet was in a casino. I did not play any black jack. We know how it goes down when I pull up to a black jack table… I lose money. Lots of it.).
Oh, and my personal pet peeve is when I pack workout clothes on a work trip and don’t use them – taking up such valuable suitcase space AND making it so much heavier. I had to choose between a nap and a workout, and napping won out.
Dinner was some pumpkin seeds + odds and ends from the free food provided at the presentation. I asked one of the ladies if I could make myself a spread to take back to my hotel, and this is what she hooked me up with. Pretty amazing, right?
That’s grapes, strawberry yogurt, ranch dressing, cheese cubes, pineapples + honeydew, Mary’s gluten-free crackers, cucumber and celery, and carrots.
All in all, a very good day. I’ll be back in Charlotte in the blink of an eye, which is a good thing because today we went under contract on a house! Now all we have to do is dot all the I’s and cross the T’s (easier said than done, of course).
Thought of the Day:

Ahh, CONGRATS on the house!!! That is so exciting!
