The Big Bang(s)

in All Posts

Yesterday, I ran 6.0 miles with Nicole.  Running with my new bangs isn’t as big of a deal as I thought it would be, actually.

caitlin-bangs_thumb (Source)

Yes, that’s me… Nicole even got the color of my shorts right!

Despite the fact that the bangs are totally in my eyes on a normal basis, once I start to sweat, I just push them to the side and they stay there.  Of course, I am running so freaking fast that the wind also pushes them to the side. ;)  Obviously.

Anyway – I am TOTALLY ready for the weekend – but I’m only getting one real weekend day this week since we’re working tomorrow at the clinic.   So today is technically my Thursday.  :(  Wahhh.

It looked like a bomb went off in the clinic earlier.  We decided to move my father-in-law out of the larger treatment room and put him in the secretary’s room so we’d have more space to display supplements.

We just need labels and signs now!

Ta-da!  So much better.  Plus, I like being in the sunnier room.  However, my father-in-law is not as pleased with the office switch…

Lunch:

This was a really easy meal that I prepared this morning while cooking breakfast.

  • Wild rice
  • Roasted carrots
  • Roasted asparagus
  • Black beans
  • Balsamic dressing

Thanks to my beloved food processor (I was just alerted that it’s on sale at Target for $39!), I only spent about 3 minutes actively preparing/packaging this lunch.  Wahoo!

What do you guys have planned for the weekend?

  • Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun March 4, 2011, 2:21 pm

We’re trying a new BBQ place tom for dinner. That’s it but I’m excited. Why does eating out have to be so enjoyable? LOL

  • Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat March 4, 2011, 2:22 pm

The clinic looks great! I used to have bangs (as in, for the first 20 years of my life!) and grew them out just for a change.
This weekend, I’m doing my Schwinn group cycling certification. I have been an instructor for 2 years but there’s always room for improvement if you ask me!! 🙂 I’m excited about it.. but I’m anticipating a sore butt after spending about 5 hours on the bike tomorrow!
    Have a great afternoon Caitlin!

    • Caitlin March 5, 2011, 9:10 am

That’s so fun! I hope you have fun at spin certification class.

  • Jennie @ Designed to be Fit March 4, 2011, 2:23 pm

  • Sarah for Real March 4, 2011, 2:24 pm

Skiing! Hey, it’s still winter after all.

  • Molly March 4, 2011, 2:25 pm

I have bangs! I just wear a Goody athletic headband. Or bobby pins. Easy!

  • Ash @ Good Taste Healthy Me March 4, 2011, 2:26 pm

Mmmm I love wild rice. Getting into it a lot lately. My parents are visiting for the weekend and I can’t wait!

  • Kacy March 4, 2011, 2:27 pm

I’ve got to work at the running store tomorrow, and I have a 10-miler and a meeting on Sunday. Not the most exciting weekend, but I’m still pumped for it 🙂

    • Caitlin March 5, 2011, 9:13 am

Doesn’t sound too bad to me!

  • Teresa (Our Corner House) March 4, 2011, 2:28 pm

Some fantastic project to finish up the guest room!

  • Freya March 4, 2011, 2:33 pm

I want a tour of the practice/ office! Can you do one? It looks so comforting in there 🙂
I aaamm writing my dissertation this weekend. FUN times! SPSS and I, we’ve got alooong date 🙁

  • Shannon March 4, 2011, 2:34 pm

Love the bangs. I just got a haircut yesterday, and I thought about getting them. I have a pretty strict no in chair decisions policy so I have another 6-8 weeks to think it over. I was definitely nervous about running and working out with them. Plus you have to style them everyday, and I don’t always like to do my hair daily (tmi?) and just throw it up or back in a clip.

    • Caitlin March 5, 2011, 9:13 am

Oh man I love in-chair decisions!! Otherwise I always back out.

  • Kira March 4, 2011, 2:39 pm

ugh midterms for me next week. So sadly this weekend will consist of the following:

    Wake Up
    Eat
    Study
    Workout
    Study
    Study some more
    Sleep
    Repeat!

    xx

Hope your weekends much more enjoyable than mine!

  • Sarena (The Non Dairy Queen) March 4, 2011, 2:41 pm

I am hanging with my boys since my husband is off on a business trip. I am kind of excited…movies, baking and pizza! Hanging with the kids! Oh and I am totally painting my nails!

    • Caitlin March 5, 2011, 9:14 am

I need to get my nails done too!!!

  • rebecca lustig March 4, 2011, 2:42 pm

I made that banana soft serve for the first time, and I’m totally hooked! In fact, I think I’ve deemed it appropriate to have it at breakfast and at night bc of its nutritional value , haha.

I’m looking forward to a Saturday in Philly with some good friends!

    Have a great Friday 🙂

  • Alison @ Around the VeggieTable March 4, 2011, 2:42 pm

Mmmmmm I never do wild rice but I love it! I think I’ll buy some this week! My weekend is: Happy hour tonight, running 6 miles tomorrow (my longest run so for in my half mary training), hopefully a nap after that, dinner with my Dad + Boyfriend, and maybe some more napping? 🙂

  • Clarissa @ SoberandtheCity March 4, 2011, 2:43 pm

I love organizing rooms like that! Glad the bangs aren’t an issue. I used to gel mine back when I played soccer as a kid – I am sans bangs now though. Normal weekend for me coming up – although seeing The Roommate tonight – yay for an evil Blair Waldorf!

  • Julie @ Shining From Within March 4, 2011, 2:49 pm

My family and I are going down to Atlantic City to celebrate my brothers 21st birthday!!!! Woooooooooop woooooooop

  • Mauimandy@The Grains of Paradise March 4, 2011, 2:57 pm

Looking at a very stormy weekend out here in Hawaii…..so much for the surf plans. I guess I’ll do my taxes now. blah

  • Katy (The Singing Runner) March 4, 2011, 2:58 pm

Tomorrow morning I’m going to try to run for 15:00 (which is big for me since I am trying to slowly come back from an injury). Then I coach my GOTR girls from 9-11…then the gym for a spin workout! Oh, and I’m starting to get a few items that I need for my trip to Costa Rica in a week and a half!

    • Caitlin March 5, 2011, 9:15 am

Oooo a trip to Costa Rice sounds nice. How long are you going for?

      • Katy (The Singing Runner) March 5, 2011, 1:42 pm

I’m going for a week! It’s an Alternative Spring Break Program with my university and we are going to be helping at a soup kitchen cleaning, painting, and playing with the children! 😀

  • Carolyn @ Lovin' Losing March 4, 2011, 2:59 pm

Ha! I was wondering how the FIL would feel about losing his office. 😉 Gotta love working with family.

  • Rachel March 4, 2011, 3:00 pm

We’re taking my car in to get looked at (might be a busted transmission – boo), and little odds and ends for wedding planning like mailing save the dates, writing thank you notes for gifts we got at the engagement party, etc.

The fiance also wants to go fishing this weekend with our new fishing poles.

Other than that, not much on the books for the weekend and I LIKE it.

  • Johanna B March 4, 2011, 3:03 pm

My excitement for the weekend will involve taking the bus to my favorite grocery store and stocking up on things I can’t find anywhere else in town. They carry tons of gluten-free products and grains and chia seeds and Larabars and stuff like that there 😉

  • Brittany (A Healthy Slice of Life) March 4, 2011, 3:03 pm

$39 food processor? I need to get on that!

    • Caitlin March 5, 2011, 9:16 am

      It’s a really good one too! I can’t believe it’s so low.

  • Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) March 4, 2011, 3:04 pm

Ok if you love that food proc THAT much AND it’s on sale for $39 at Target, I am getting it! I have a Vita and a Blendtec and a million gadgets, but not a food proc. I know, crazy. But for $39, I am so there 🙂

  • Kara March 4, 2011, 3:06 pm

I run fast enough to keep my bangs back too 🙂

    That’s one fancy doctor’s desk!

My wild weekend plans include a 10 mile run tomorrow and I penciled in a freakout for Sunday since it’s a week away from my full marathon. 😛

  • Jess March 4, 2011, 3:07 pm

    That looks pretty good! 😀

I’m going to run 12 miles, go to church, and try to recruit new students for our graduate program by feeding them delicious food and beer. 🙂 Have a great weekend!

  • sarah k. @ the pajama chef March 4, 2011, 3:09 pm

i have a conference this weekend…presenting some research on sunday, eeeks!

  • Amy March 4, 2011, 3:10 pm

I’ve had bangs for a long time, and I couldn’t survive without bobby pins. I always use them when I exercise as well as those days when I just want them back and out of my way. Your new bangs are super cute!

    • Caitlin March 5, 2011, 9:17 am

      Thank you so much 🙂

  • Baking 'n' Books March 4, 2011, 3:12 pm

Hmm…would you mind coming and making lunches for me while I eat breakfast?..I always hate thinking about food again for later when I’m eating. Plus, I’m ALWAYS in a mad rush to get anywhere. I hate the night preparation thing too – I eat it all while I’m preparing it. Okay, clearly I have bigger issues here…

Eeps about the Father-In-Law! Is his space smaller now? Did you tell him before or after? Actually, why does he only work there every few weeks? Is he going to be permanent?

    • Caitlin March 5, 2011, 9:18 am

We told him before 🙂 He only works there part time because he still lives in FL and has a clinic there, too!

  • Stacey March 4, 2011, 3:13 pm

It’s too bad you only have a one day weekend – the perils of being self-employed I guess!

  • Parita @ myinnershakti March 4, 2011, 3:22 pm

A cross country move – Arizona to Massachusetts!

  • Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife March 4, 2011, 3:27 pm

That wild rice looks way yumm. Making lunch at breakfast time is THE best idea ever- I do it a lot as well 🙂

  • Amanda- The Nutritionist Reviews March 4, 2011, 3:29 pm

Oooh I love the look of the supplement shelf! Very cool.

  • Laura @ Starting Out Fit March 4, 2011, 3:32 pm

The switc of offices looks good! 🙂

this weekend marks my last ‘fitting’ for my wedding dress – just have some finishing touches to do! 🙂

    • Caitlin March 5, 2011, 9:18 am

Congrats on your upcoming wedding 😉 So wonderful for you!

  • Kate (What Kate is Cooking) March 4, 2011, 3:46 pm

I’m used to running with bangs, so it doesn’t normally bother me, but I hate when I don’t wash my hair right away and I start getting breakouts where my greasy bangs are touching my greasy forehead!

  • britt will be fit March 4, 2011, 3:48 pm

fun weekend with kids and hubby!

  • Ali @ Ali Runs March 4, 2011, 3:58 pm

My weekend will consist of lots of studying!! So nothing fun 🙁 but hopefully it will mean I’ll ace my exam and then I’ll be –> 😀

  • Michelle (The Runner's Plate) March 4, 2011, 3:59 pm

I have some wild rice in my pantry, so thanks for giving me an idea of how to use it!

I’m celebrating my birthday (it was yesterday) with my husband tonight, spending time with a good friend, and shopping this weekend!

  • tina March 4, 2011, 4:00 pm

OMG, you guys sell my detox shakes that my nutritionist had me drinking- Ultra Clear! How much are you selling them for??? (on the second shelf, on the very right!)

    • Caitlin March 4, 2011, 4:09 pm

      The Sustain is $70.66!

      • tina March 4, 2011, 4:11 pm

ummm that’s way cheaper then what i was paying for it! do you sell it online or direct orders?

        • Caitlin March 5, 2011, 9:19 am

          Emailed ya!

  • Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) March 4, 2011, 4:08 pm

My cousin is getting married tomorrow! YAY! Weddings and dancing! And then it’s Mardi Gras time, baby!!!

  • elaine! March 4, 2011, 4:20 pm

“Of course, I am running so freaking fast that the wind also pushes them to the side. Obviously.”

    Bwahahahaha XD

I’m headin’ to the city this weekend!!! On Saturday, at least. Then I probably have to work at home all day Sunday. 🙁

  • Mary @ stylefyles March 4, 2011, 4:22 pm

hahah yeah I use the sweat technique, too. I just didn’t realize other people are as sweaty as I am! My hair always gets soaked when I run or play soccer, so I’m always able to push it back and it just stays. I never understood those people whose hair stays dry after working out

  • Melissa @ Be Not Simply Good March 4, 2011, 4:33 pm

My hair is ponytail-length now, but I had shorter hair for quite a while and rarely had trouble with it when I ran. Surprisingly. I like your sweat method and of course your speed method. 🙂

This weekend I am participating in a fundraiser for Juvenile Arthritis.

  • Dorien @ Striped Happy March 4, 2011, 4:41 pm

I’ll be working tomorrow, and I hate that ‘it’s Friday but I’ve still got one work day left’ feeling! I’ll be compensating for it tomorrow night though, got a party with friends planned! 🙂 xox

  • Kathleen @ KatsHealthCorner March 4, 2011, 4:59 pm

    I love Nicole’s Picture of you! 😀

    xoxo

    Lunch looks yummy!
This weekend is MARDI GRAS in St. Louis! It’s the second biggest in the country, so I’m expecting a cold sloppy mess:)

    • Caitlin March 5, 2011, 9:19 am

I want to come to your madri gras celebration!

  • Elizabeth@The Sweet Life March 4, 2011, 5:30 pm

  • Ashley March 4, 2011, 5:31 pm

a whole lot of studying for exams next week

  • Christine March 4, 2011, 5:55 pm

Trapezing with friends for the first time! And a long run.

  • Caitlyn (A Spoonful of Life) March 4, 2011, 6:09 pm

I have bangs too. They’re not too bad until it is very windy. At they point, they stick up in the air and move like a flag. Aside from that, I love my bangs 🙂

I run a 10K on Sunday!! But have homework the rest of the weekend.

  • Dee March 4, 2011, 6:26 pm

Do you think your food processor is good with hard stuff, like frozen banana? After frozen banana broke my cheap processor, I was willing to buy a more expensive one, like one I saw at Macy’s for about $120. But I don’t really have that in the budget; on the other hand, I don’t want to break another machine. Any thoughts/ experiences with frozen stuff?

    • Caitlin March 5, 2011, 9:20 am

Yes – I’ve only had this processor for a few months but it can do banana soft serve and nut butters easily. It’s a good price! It’s normally $90 on Amazon.

  • Sarah (Running To Slow Things Down) March 4, 2011, 7:25 pm

My bangs always drive me nuts when I’m running. It’s partially because I have to straighten my hair in order for it not to be all wavy and frizzy and crazy. So when they get wet with sweat, they usually just revert to their old ways by puffing up and sticking out in every which direction. 😉

I still love my bangs though, so I’ll usually just pin them back when I’m on the move and running. 😀

  • AJ @ Flowing to Fifty March 4, 2011, 7:47 pm

    Love the bangs.

  • Kristen March 4, 2011, 7:52 pm

Im glad the bangs worked during the run! (and nicole drew a cute picture haha)
This weekend I work saturday and then sunday Im going to look at a house I want to buy! So excited! haha

  • Camille March 4, 2011, 7:54 pm

The clinic looks really, really nice!

  • chelsey @ clean eating chelsey March 4, 2011, 8:35 pm

Obviously those bangs wouldnt be a problem since you run like the wind! 🙂

I have nothing planned this weekend – no. joke.

  • Widad March 4, 2011, 8:46 pm

Intensive course about Islamic history in the Americas, Spain, and North Africa.
    Excited! [no sarcasm here]

  • Allison @ Happy Tales March 4, 2011, 10:06 pm

A whole bunch of RELAXING! Today I had my longest run EVER …17 miles! Went well and now I get to chillax alllll weekend long! And go to the dogpark. And do biostats h/w… meh.

  • Emma March 4, 2011, 11:03 pm

I ran my first race today and I’m going surfing tomorrow!
That rice looks delicious, can’t wait until dinner 🙂

  • Melissa @ TryingToHeal March 5, 2011, 12:34 am

For the bangs, I think the best way to keep them back and out of your face it to grab them all, twist them together, then pin them back with a clip/bobby pin. i do it for all my runs and no matter how much sweat or wind it helps!

  • Faith @ lovelyascharged March 5, 2011, 10:49 am

Lululemon headbands would probably be a good idea if/when the bangs start growing out and get to the awkward swing-in-your-face stage. And for my weekend bit, I get to see The Coach tonight! We’re meeting up with some friends for dinner and a bar in Tampa…should be a blast!

  • Amber K March 5, 2011, 11:53 am

Sunday is always all about church. Saturday is food prep/grocery shopping and hopefully some veg time with the hubby. Just like every weekend! 😉

  • Jennifer March 5, 2011, 11:56 am

Saturday is swim practice for Little One, Spin class for Hubby and me, home for a quick snack, Hubby and Little One to the bike show, Middle One and I to the dentist, cleaning the house and horseback riding lessons. Tomorrow is my 1/2 marathon by the lake, and I’m hoping that it will not be as cold and rainy as it is today. After the race, lunch, nap and cleaning out the back room. So much for a relaxing weekend!

  • Mary (What's Cookin' with Mary) March 5, 2011, 12:02 pm

We went skiing all day Fri (my 2nd time?!) and had SO much fun!! Tonight we’re having a dinner party, but won’t be I won’t be cooking bc of all the skiing and the fact that I can’t really walk right now… LOL. Sunday is for relaxing 😀

Have a great weekend Caitlin !
