A Rainy Spring Afternoon

in All Posts

Oh my, oh my – what a funny debate earlier about race shirts!  It makes me laugh how seriously we take things like race shirts.  🙂

Want more serious-but-not-so-serious debates?

So today was a normal Thursday afternoon.  We did Girls on the Run, which was fun because we got to play in the gym instead of running outside due to rain.  We played Octopus and group jump rope and discussed cooperation.

Today’s eats were all about refueling after that killer 12.0 miler this morning.

Pre-GOTR smoothie (a banana, almond milk, peanut butter, and protein powder):

Post-GOTR Greek yogurt, cereal, and almonds:

Dinner was cooked by the Husband (whoop whoop).  He made whole wheat pasta, stir-fried orange peppers, spinach, faux meat, onions, and tomato sauce.

That man needs to get into the kitchen more often!

Ice cream for dessert:

Even if the weather outside is rainy and windy, I’m going to pretend it’s summer by licking happily on my ice cream cone.  The warmness is just around the corner, I can feel it!

Good night.

Your little debates always make me laugh! We are pretending it’s summer here too –even walking to a frozen yogurt shop tonight : ) However, despite the fact that it snowed on Monday here, it was 70 degrees today, so I went hiking! Crazy Colorado weather for ya. I’ll definitely take it!!!

Its amazing that no matter how cold it is….ice cream is always good!

  • Julie (A Case of the Runs) March 10, 2011, 10:11 pm

Hah, that’s funny you like ice cream in wet weather. I used to love ice cream sandwiches when it was cold. The sandwiches held together SO much better.

How long after your Post-Workout meal do you eat your dinner??

And – God – I am just going to stop reading the other “big” blogs and read yours. It’s refreshing to see someone who’s not giving up sugar or sweets or detoxing or something else equally extreme…I know it’s just my insecurities.

But it feels normal here. Thank you.

    • Caitlin March 11, 2011, 7:07 am

My run was at like 11 AM so dinner was hours later.

Read blogs that make you happy!

Many thoughts on the short post
    1. Shortly after the post about rewearing workout clothes i stumbled upon an article in real simple entitled when-to-wash-it handbook
    http://www.realsimple.com/home-organizing/cleaning/laundry/when-to-wash-it-handbook-00000000035143/index.html
    2. Yay for pasta!
    3. I once begged my hs boyfriend for an ic run in the middle of december in the chicagoland area… I couldn’t wait for it to be warm.
    4. A new employee at my fave ic place ruined my first ic run of the year by messing up the recipe to my favorite “homemade” flavor!

    • Caitlin March 11, 2011, 7:07 am

Ahh you need to go back and get more ic then!

  • Camille March 10, 2011, 11:25 pm

    That ice cream looks amazing!

  • Ashley @ Feeding Ashley March 10, 2011, 11:44 pm

It’s never to gross outside to eat ice cream. 😀 I think if my boyfriend made dinner like that it would be smothered in cheese.

  • J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) March 11, 2011, 4:25 am

That pasta looks soooo good! And ice cream is always in season!!!

  • Sarah (Running To Slow Things Down) March 11, 2011, 6:40 am

Mmm…I’m in love with Ben&Jerry’s. It’s never a *bad* day to have icecream, in my opinion. Rainy, cold, or not. 😀

  • Kara March 11, 2011, 8:28 am

My husband made me dinner too last night. He preheated the oven all by himself and had leftover frozen pizza waiting for me when I got home from yoga. It’s a good thing he’s cute 🙂

  • Kacy March 11, 2011, 9:55 am

I love your love of ice cream. I ate ice cream during our last blizzard. I can’t help myself, it’s just necessary.

  • Sam (the neurotic yogini) March 11, 2011, 11:15 am

Now I have a hankering for ice cream. Thank you Caitlin! 😉

  • Marissa C March 11, 2011, 11:27 am

Went back and looked at your PETA blog post–haha! Good for you!

I lost all respect for PETA when I saw one of their ads, “Animals are People Too”

Umm…no. They aren’t? They deserve our respect, but they are definitely NOT people.

  • Ali March 11, 2011, 11:32 am

Adam cooked dinner last night too! yay for cooking hubs!

  • Amber K March 11, 2011, 12:43 pm

I can’t wait for warmer weather! So far it has gotten a bit warmer here, but it’s been all rain, rain, rain.

  • Mindy Knows March 11, 2011, 2:36 pm

Totally went to B&J’s last weekend because of your ice cream photos! There I discovered their Coconut 7 Layer Bar. It’s Heaven in a half pint!! 😀 If you like coconut like I do you MUST try it. It will rock your world!

  • Allison @ Happy Tales March 12, 2011, 2:57 pm

Props to the hubby on that dinner, that sounds delish!
