Wine and Brownies

in All Posts

Tonight we watched the USA vs. Slovenia match and the England vs. Algeria match.  It was INTENSE!  I needed wine to get me through the games (both draws).

We drank a Zinfandel from Kokomo, a wine I picked up when I visited Sonoma Valley in May.

Kokomo was the place with the cute winery dogs and animal crackers!

The Zin was SO good!  I highly recommend Kokomo.

I snacked on a fruit bowl during the USA match:

Dinner was two biscuits (homemade from Hodgson’s Mills InstaBake mix), corn on the cob, and roasted Brussel sprouts.

Since we’re out of butter (eat it, don’t move it, right?), I roasted some garlic in the oven and then mixed it with olive oil, dried basil, salt, pepper, and balsamic to create my own dipping sauce.

And for dessert, I made brownies from a box mix (more eating it instead of moving it!).  The brownies were a good way to heal our souls after such so-so games.

I’ve got to get in bed soon!  I’m going to wake up and tackle No More Trouble Zones.  Wish me luck!

Which do you prefer:  brownies, ice cream, or cookies?  Or everything, all mashed together?!

  • Bethany @ More Fruit Please June 18, 2010, 10:39 pm

Brownies sound like a great end to Friday! I’m impressed with your eat-it-don’t-move-it challenge! I just cleaned out my cabinets and there are so many items in there that I keep for just-in-case moments that never come!

  • Lisa June 18, 2010, 10:41 pm

    What a cute puppy!

I’m having some M&M’s for dessert tonight. The BF bought a bag at Costco (save me!). I wish I had brownies with vanilla ice cream…

  • Jenny June 18, 2010, 10:51 pm

I love ice cream sandwiches… in cookies! A little indulgent, so it’s a treat:)

  • Jacquie June 18, 2010, 10:54 pm

I obviously love chocolate chip cookies…

..but having everything smashed together isn’t so bad either! 😉

  • Heather @ Side of Sneakers June 18, 2010, 10:56 pm

Which is weird since I’m not a chocolate fan…

  • jenny in new york June 18, 2010, 11:00 pm

omg non dairy icecream on brownies.. or cookies. I LOVE dessert haha

  • Camille June 18, 2010, 11:00 pm

  • Amber K @ sparkpeople June 18, 2010, 11:20 pm

I love desserts of all kinds, but my absolute favorite is ice cream. So many different kinds, so many different toppings, ahhhh.

  • Jackie (Peaces of Earth) June 18, 2010, 11:20 pm

    Congrats to the hubby!!!!

  • Heather (Heather's Dish) June 18, 2010, 11:38 pm

  • Wei-Wei June 19, 2010, 12:09 am

Brownies! I like cookies, but I’m not a fan of ice cream. Don’t ask me why! Your dipping sauce is so creative! It sounds delicious 😀

  • jenny (green food diaries) June 19, 2010, 12:35 am

definitely cookies. i like chewy stuff 😀

  • Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter June 19, 2010, 12:51 am

  • Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run] June 19, 2010, 12:58 am

I heart brownies, ice cream AND cookies!!!

  • Katherine @ Left Coast Contessa June 19, 2010, 1:15 am

I am seriously committed to Barefoot Contessa’s outrageous brownies. They are literally melted chocolate, butter and a little sugar and a tiny amount of flour. Then chilled. So delicious!

  • Kristina June 19, 2010, 1:30 am

    brownies are my favorite…

good luck with NWTZ… I received mine yesterday, will be trying it out tomorrow! 🙂

  • Kristina June 19, 2010, 1:31 am

  • Kaz June 19, 2010, 1:43 am

    Good luck!

Hmm, maybe cookies with ice cream wedged between them. Omnomnom.

  • Freya @ Brit Chick Runs June 19, 2010, 1:52 am

Brownies, ice cream or cookies!? That’s such a cruel question! I’d say cookies if they’re Nana’s Cookies, otherwise ice cream 😀 or brownies if they’re black bean brownies…gah!

  • Nora@LifeLifeEatRight June 19, 2010, 2:00 am

Love the name of this post! Wine and brownies just make my world right. Hmm…tough choice because I like both and my mood can fluctuate. I’m going to go with brownies for now because it is the perfect match for my true love: Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream! Have a great weekend and good luck with the move!

  • Little Bookworm June 19, 2010, 5:00 am

Brownies, ice cream or cookies – tough choice! Cookies I think (though sometimes brownies).

  • Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble) June 19, 2010, 7:21 am

Wine and brownies? My kind of night!

I prefer ALL of them together! Half baked is my fave ben & jerrys 😀

  • Rebecca June 19, 2010, 7:24 am

Your dinner is so summery! I love it! My boyfriend has been waking up at 7 a.m. every day to watch the soccer games. We went to a bar last weekend to watch the England v. USA match. We were among the few there rooting for England!Smelly guys cheering for the US kept turning around and glaring at us every time I yelled for England!

  • Alison June 19, 2010, 7:47 am

    Brownies. I love brownies.

  • eatmovelove June 19, 2010, 8:27 am

The soccer games have been intense here! I didn’t realize how popular it was.

  • Helen June 19, 2010, 8:50 am

God the matches were awful weren’t they!! English fans are not happy, I bet your husband isn’t either! I like brownies with ice cream ad cookies with ice cream but all 3 together would probably give me a sugar overload!!

  • Kalli@fitandfortysomething June 19, 2010, 8:52 am

What a fun night! I think I am a give it all to me dessert person!

  • whitney June 19, 2010, 9:08 am

haha everything mashed together but if it was a life or death situation I would go for the brownies

  • Lindsay @ Summit Sandwiches June 19, 2010, 9:14 am

That’s like asking me to choose between my (nonexistent) children. Goodness…I guess if I HAD to choose, I would go with an amazingly rich and fudgy brownie!

  • Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin June 19, 2010, 9:21 am

Definitely brownies. Especially moist, fudgy ones!

  • Cassie @ Tasteful Tales June 19, 2010, 9:28 am

No cupcake loving??? HAHA… I’m a cookies girl all the way, then brownies, and I think Ice Cream comes in last.

  • Marissa June 19, 2010, 10:22 am

I’m going to have to go with everything mashed together, lol… it would be Cookie Brownie Ice Cream! Yumm. Ugly looking things always taste the best!

  • Gracie (complicated day) June 19, 2010, 10:33 am

Wine is my splurge and I swear a glass of red a few nights a week has done amazing things for my skin. BTW I think red Zinfandel is a much-neglected wine and is excellent for drinking alone. I prefer full-bodied wines alone so you can taste their complexity…instead of drowning it in a mouthful of spaghetti and meatballs!

  • Kelly @ Healthy Living With Kelly June 19, 2010, 10:35 am

    Definintely cookies!!!

  • Carolyn @ lovinlosing June 19, 2010, 11:05 am

    Definitely EVERYTHING mixed together! 🙂

  • Robyn @ Frugal 'n' Fit! June 19, 2010, 11:36 am

This is truly the most difficult question I have ever been asked, but few things can compare to a warm chocolate chip cookie straight out of the oven.

  • Kellie June 19, 2010, 11:46 am

I’m an equal opportunity dessert eater. I love it all.

  • Dorry June 19, 2010, 1:41 pm

My favorite would have to be warm chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream. In the dorm freshman year, they’d bake fresh cookies and we had a vanilla soft-serve machine. Dangerous.

  • Lisa @ Early Morning Run June 19, 2010, 5:30 pm

great looking bowl of fruit! I can’t wait to have fresh, local, corn on the cob!

I’ll take all three – brownies, cookies AND ice cream, although really good ice cream is my favorite.

  • Jolene ( June 21, 2010, 12:37 am

I prefer cookies usually (homemade only!), but I love them all.
