Serendipity

in All Posts

Today has been a day of serendipity.

I’m not even sure where to begin!  First of all, we put down a deposit on an AMAZING duplex that is positively perfect.  Most importantly, 500 yards from awesome shops and restaurants.

Like this AWESOME market with fine wines, microbrews, and awesome veggie wraps:

And… the place has HARDWOOD FLOORS!

IMG_5979

Plus:  It has granite countertops, a double door fridge with a freezer on the bottom, two bedrooms, two full renovations bathrooms, a dishwasher, a garbage disposal, a beautiful front patio overlooking an epic lawn, and a backyard!

The duplex is in a gorgeous neighborhood to run around with and walk the dogs around.

ANNNND (there are so many benefits to this place), it’s 1.5 miles from the Husband’s office, which means he can walk to work and I can come visit him at lunch!

We move in on June 28 and we cannot wait!  I’ll show more pictures when I move in, I promise.  🙂

The crazy thing about this duplex is the tenant that is moving out has an amazing jewelry business in honor of her sister, who tragically committed suicide after battling bulimia for years.  We connected on such a deep level (I told her about Operation Beautiful), and I’m going to feature her on the blog in the next few days – the work she does is AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL.   I felt like it was the perfect place and she was the perfect person… so strange.  It was serendipity for us to meet!

On to the food…

Breakfast was yet another egg, sprouts, and tomato bagel from Brueggers:

And for lunch, we went to a cute little diner that had excellent eats.

IMG_6006

I forgot I ate eggs at breakfast!  I ordered the special quiche for lunch, which had olives, tomatoes, and other veggies.  There was a ton of cheese on the top that I picked off.

IMG_6008

Fresh fruit!

IMG_6011

And the most amazing muffin – I could’ve eaten three!

IMG_6010

After signing the contract on our place, we made our way to south Charlotte to see…

KATH!  Looking like a professional RD!

IMG_6026

So strange to finally be in her house after seeing it on her blog for so long!

Matt poured the Husband and I several samples of his homebrew to enjoy while we all caught up:

IMG_6029

I tried:

  • Irish Red Ale
  • Brown Ale Moose Drool
  • Pumpkin Ale
  • Vanilla Coffee Porter

IMG_6028

They were all great, but the Vanilla Coffee Porter was AMAZING.  Matt needs to open his own brewery, too!

He also fed me some of his Great Harvest Bread with some Nutzo spread.  I had 1.5 of what’s shown and the Hus ate the rest.

Again… an epic snack.

Well… off to hang out with the KERF Family.

I hope you have a wonderful Friday!  🙂

Caitlin, I am so happy you found your dream place! I was following your tweets and remember all-too-well how stressed I was this last January when we moved from the UK. It’s SO hard to find that perfect place when you don’t know the area that well.
On another note, that is an AWESOME photo of Matt and the beer bottle!

  • Evan Thomas June 4, 2010, 6:23 pm

  • Mara @ What's For Dinner? June 4, 2010, 6:33 pm

There’s a Hebrew word for what happened today: B’sheret. It means “meant to be on a deep level.” How cool!

  • Eric June 4, 2010, 6:35 pm

Welcome to North Carolina from someone who has lived here all my life. I grew up near Charlotte, went to school in Raleigh and now live near Winston Salem. I loved living in Raleigh, and this is my second tour of duty in the Triad. You’re only a couple hours either way to the beach or the mountains, your choice. I haven’t decided yet, but depending on my training I may come down to Charlotte in December for the Half Marathon (and may come for the 5K). Have fun!

  • Sarah for Real June 4, 2010, 6:46 pm

Congrats! Your new place sounds perfect. When can I move in? Haha

  • Robyn @ Frugal 'n' Fit! June 4, 2010, 6:53 pm

  • Erica June 4, 2010, 7:12 pm

congrats! Sounds PERFECT. You will be so happy there. Matt’s beer and bread are both incredible. Josh and I could not stop raving about it when they brought it to our house. ENjoy the rest of your trip

  • Sarah (Enjoying One Meal at a Time) June 4, 2010, 7:18 pm

I love that word! You never know when great things are going to happen. Sounds like an awesome new place! Yay 🙂

  • Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat June 4, 2010, 7:40 pm

  • Brandy June 4, 2010, 8:01 pm

    congrats! That quiche looks delicious!!

  • Alyssa June 4, 2010, 8:03 pm

WOW! That is awesome! I’m usually not one for “signs” and all, but finding that former tenant is definitely something 🙂 I love how she started a jewelry business to honor her sister. I’ve been in deeper ed treatment the past two weeks and the reality of the huge struggle and damage of eating disorders has been hitting home. Talking and being around people in treatment centers is definitely an eye opening experience. Can’t wait to hear more about her! 🙂

  • Heather (runningwithsass.com) June 4, 2010, 8:05 pm

yay I am so glad it all worked out for you! I can’t wait to see more pictures!

  • Camille June 4, 2010, 8:07 pm

It’s very strange seeing Kath AND Matt in pictures together just around the house. We always see just one or the other.
    My mind is very confused.

  • Cynthia (It All Changes) June 4, 2010, 8:37 pm

This is so great that it worked out that way. Sometimes things are just meant to be.
