Vegetables in My Breakfast

in All Posts

I’m baaack! 🙂 Sometimes, a girl just needs a break from the computer.

Last night, we saw Avatar:

Any 3-hour long movie that manages to hold my attention 90% of the time gets a thumbs up from me! :)  Honestly, you should see it *just* for the special effects – it was amazing.  I kept forgetting what was real and what was computer-generated.  Plus, there were some very philosophical and spiritual undertones to the movie that I wasn’t expecting and found to be very interesting!  Go see it!

My breakfast had some VEGGIES in it!

Meghann did this the other day, and it looked so good that I knew I had to try it!  I mixed about 1/4 cup pumpkin (cold) with 1/4 cup Greek plan yogurt, plus dashes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove.  And Pumpkin Greek Yogurt was born!

I had my yogurt with a banana and granola.

I’m off to meet with Team in Training for a training run.   This is my first run with them, if you can believe it!  They always meet on the other side of town, and since I have Megan to run with, I never felt compelled to drive out to run with my “teammates.”  However, we’re getting our race numbers and shirts for the Marathon!  Super pumped.

It’s chilly out there!  I need a jacket…

Have a good day!

Avatar seriously touched me to the core. It’s the best movie I’v ever seen and that’s saying alot since I’m a total moviejunkie.

It has such a beautiful and sad message, and the special effects were out of this world. Gives us humans something to think about, what we are doing to the earth.

      Avatar is the new Pocahontas!

  • Erin December 19, 2009, 7:58 am

I want to get outside for a run or something active but it’s a blizzard out there! Hopefully I’ll at least be able to take a long walk through the snow and take in the scenery.

    Mmm, pumpkin yogurt! Looks delish.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to see Avatar but I think I need to after reading your review.

Have a great run this morning!

  • Molly @vegandorm December 19, 2009, 8:14 am

Unfortunately, in my bio class we just were talking about how pumpkins were a fruit, but culinarily speaking making the definition is different. In any case, a delicious looking breakfast!

Is it lame that that was totally not the Avatar I was thinking of before I saw the movie poster? 😕 Pumpkin yogurt is super yummy. Especially with a little pumpkin/cranberry butter too, yum!

  • Yasmin December 19, 2009, 9:08 am

The movie also made a pretty strong political statrment about American foreign policy and imperialism. The graphics were legit too. Just way too long ad way too drawn out.

    • Yasmin December 19, 2009, 9:10 am

Have a good run! We have 8″ of snow on the ground :/

  • Kristine December 19, 2009, 9:15 am

Have a good time with the team! After all the hype for Avatar, it still doesn’t seem like my cup of tea :-/ Maybe I’ll see it on tv one day and be surprised how much I like it

  • Madeline @ GreensAndJeans December 19, 2009, 9:27 am

Have fun with your team! I can’t believe how close your marathon is! It seems like only yesterday that you announced you were going to be signing up!

  • Karla December 19, 2009, 9:33 am

For some reason I never had any desire to see Avatar. Animated science fiction doesn’t really do it for me 🙁
But seeing that it kept your attention 90% of the time sort of interests me. I usually get bored in movies pretty quickly

  • Shannon (The Daily Balance) December 19, 2009, 9:46 am

I think the Mister and I are going to see Avatar tonight — so I’m glad you liked it 😉

  • Jenna December 19, 2009, 9:56 am

  • Penny December 19, 2009, 9:57 am

Pumpkin and yogurt. YUM. Great idea.
I have been wanting to see Avatar. It looks really awesome. Glad to know you like it. 🙂

  • Meghan@traveleatlove December 19, 2009, 10:20 am

Pumpkin pie yogurt was my fall go-to breakfast! Almost tastes like pumpkin cheesecake. I add almond butter and crushed graham crackers to mine.

  • teacherwoman December 19, 2009, 10:21 am

That yogurt sounds so yummy! I will HAVE to try it!

  • emily December 19, 2009, 10:47 am

My husband and his friends are dragging me to Avatar today, I’m glad you gave it a good review!

  • Tyler December 19, 2009, 10:51 am

one of my roommates was raving about that movie last night and made me watch a bunch of online previews. looks pretty awesome!

  • Mackenzie @ The College Authentic December 19, 2009, 11:20 am

Good luck on your run! I know you’ll beast-mode it 🙂

Hahaha, good to know you enjoyed Avatar. A friend of mine described it as “what the world would be like if native americans rode dinosaurs” so I was a bit wary. Now I reeaaally want to see it 🙂

  • Sam (Merit to the Carrot) December 19, 2009, 11:26 am

Pumpkin Yogurt is the best! I love it.

  • Jolene (www.everydayfoodie.ca) December 19, 2009, 12:26 pm

Pumpkin yogurt sounds great! I can’t buy that flavour in my grocery store, so this is a good alternative.

  • Ashley December 19, 2009, 1:06 pm

Avatar is incredible! Most amazing movie I’ve EVER seen.

    Can’t wait to go again!

I saw the 3D too. There aren’t enough words in the english lingo to properly describe the movie.

  • amanda@thegrainsoparadise December 19, 2009, 1:48 pm

I love how easy it is to incorperate pumpkin into so many foods. Pumpkin yogurt sounds like a winner as well! Aloha

  • Katie December 19, 2009, 2:29 pm

YES! I want to see Avatar tomorrow! I love Zoe (from Star Trek) – she got in AMAZING shape for the role even though she is BLUE!

I am going to try your spinach pancakes tomorrow, wish me luck!

    Happy weekend,

    Katie

I like the pumpkin yogurt idea. I’ll have to try that with some soy yogurt (especially since soy yogurt isn’t that great on its own).
