Shopping and Thai

in All Posts

Shopping was a success in that I managed to post a LOT of Operation Beautiful notes!

Also, I saw SANTA!!!  He was too skinny to be the real Santa.  πŸ™‚

I donÒ€ℒt know what was wrong with me today Γ’β‚¬β€œ the Husband and Harry totally out-shopped me.  I just find malls really draining in my old age! πŸ˜‰

I am on the hunt for boots, but IÒ€ℒm not sure I want to buy one that are real leather, which drastically narrows my options.  I did, however, find a sweater dress and a sweater.  Also, I debated buying this sweet hat (just kidding).

Not going to lie, when I saw these rainbow print dachshund sneakers, I almost bought them.  :)  The look on HusbandÒ€ℒs face said, Ò€œNo way in hell, Caitlin!Ò€  I thought they were cool.

To fuel me through shopping, I had a Gingerbread Spice Latte.  It feels like the holidays with seasonal blends from Starbucks (plus, red cups!).

I also had a handful of almonds and a Clif bar that I found in the bottom of my purse.

IMG_2399 IMG_2437

Well, I fully intended to go on a run after our shopping excursion, but then my sister-in-law called and said she was in town! Yay! We were pretty excited to see her and decided to take her out to dinner at our favorite Thai restaurant.

The waitress asked my Husband if Sophie was REALLY his sister because she is so pretty.  Haha! IÒ€ℒm not sure what that was implying, but it made me laugh.  I donÒ€ℒt think they look alike either.  What do you think?

I had a Thai beer:

And Tofu Pa-Naag with rice.

It was soooo good, but I left the restaurant feeling painfully full.  Although, not too full to eat some ice cream when I got back to the house! πŸ˜‰

Now, weÒ€ℒre home and gearing up to watch Star Trek.  HereÒ€ℒs hoping itÒ€ℒs a good movie (I love Sci Fi!).

Have a wonderful Sunday evening!

  • Evan Thomas November 22, 2009, 8:10 pm

Lol, you’re husband look sooo serious in that first picture for some reason.
And all this Starbucks is now causing me to brew some coffee for latenight studying

  • Madeline @ GreensAndJeans November 22, 2009, 8:10 pm

Don’t you hate when you get out-shopped by boys?! So not fair!

  • MelissaNibbles November 22, 2009, 8:11 pm

Star Trek is awesome! I know Payless sells boots and they’re not made of leather.

  • Hallie November 22, 2009, 8:11 pm

I think the whole family is pretty good looking πŸ™‚

We watched Star Trek last night…I hope you like it, I did and I’m not even a sci-fi person. The fact that I didn’t fall asleep during the flick speaks very highly of it.

  • Dori November 22, 2009, 8:14 pm

I got the most comfy Vegan shoes that are Madden Girl!

Seriously, I walk miles upon miles in the city in these and get no blisters. And they are lined so they are warm.

    • caitlin November 23, 2009, 6:04 am

omg thank you! i’m going to check this site out. i want black boots, though πŸ™‚

      • Dori November 23, 2009, 8:42 pm

They come in black, check Zappos if they’re not on Moo Shoes!

  • Brie (The Fit Bride) November 22, 2009, 8:14 pm

They don’t really look alike, but they’re both good looking! They do kind of have the same eye squint, though.

  • BethT November 22, 2009, 8:14 pm

Um, those shoes are AWESOME and would fit right in in SF…I may buy them myself!!

  • Crystal November 22, 2009, 8:14 pm

Those dachshund are wicked, I would totally buy them and wear them πŸ™‚ Liam and I really want to eventually add a dachshund to our family!!

As for Star Trek … you’ll love it!!! Then again I’m a huge Trekkie so of course I loved it!

  • Haleigh November 22, 2009, 8:18 pm

    Haha awesome dachshund converses.

  • Kelly November 22, 2009, 8:21 pm

I think husband’s sis is pretty- but thats not very nice to say that they can’t be related because she is so pretty haha.
They don’t really look alike though πŸ™‚ Though both beautiful haha

  • Lee November 22, 2009, 8:22 pm

I would have been all over those shoes! If they had golden retrievers on them, I absolutely would buy them!

I got some new boots at DSW. Did you try there (if you have one)?

  • Mason November 22, 2009, 8:24 pm

    She’s beauuutifull! πŸ™‚

  • Sana November 22, 2009, 8:29 pm

Wow good looks frm both sides of the family! You are gaurenteed to make good-lookin babiess!

  • Kristie Lynn November 22, 2009, 8:35 pm

I love that picture of your hubby and Harry at the mall. They look more psyched than I’ve ever been there πŸ™‚

Your comment about the leather boots made me think of the dilemma I’ll have when my coat is worn out of trying to find a warm coat that isn’t made of wool (or leather). I was so (blissfully?) ignorant of animal products in clothes/shoes before!

  • Nicole, MS, RD, LD November 22, 2009, 8:35 pm

I had Thai this weekend too and posted pictures, too! Love Thai food!

P.S. I have a hat like that! My husband bought it for me in Russia as a joke. But to spite his humor, I wear it! : )

  • Erin November 22, 2009, 8:36 pm

Yum, Panang is one of my favorite curries — a close second to green curry. When I was in Thailand, I’d have Panang for lunch and green for dinner almost every day! πŸ˜‰

  • BethAnn November 22, 2009, 8:37 pm

The sneakers are def cute…I was not impressed with Star Trek but only because I like Star Wars. Also…do you have a Forever 21 near you? They have AMAZING deals…I just bought over the knee boots (faux suede) forl ike 25-30? I forget…but they are awesome…super comfy. Also…if you have Marshall’s in FL check there…I got Steve Madden boots there for $40…not as comfortable but really cute. I love fashion…but am a college student and can’t afford to feed the addiction…Forever 21 has always been a staple. There is also an awesome Nine West outlet here..IDK if you have one near you but I got boots on sale there like four years ago for 50 bucks and they’ve lasted FOREVER. Might want to check into their shoes..maybe a bit pricier but they last. Happy Shopping! =)

    • caitlin November 23, 2009, 6:07 am

thank you for the tips! i tried marshalls last night but they didnt have exactly what i was looking for. i hate when i have something super specific in mind!

  • Kara November 22, 2009, 8:39 pm

Star Trek is fantastic — hope you love it!

I can’t do malls either anymore; they make me anxious and claustrophobic! I think I prefer ordering online these days πŸ™‚

  • Cynthia (It All Changes) November 22, 2009, 8:40 pm

My brother and I look nothing alike either. Which is strange because we both look like our parents but not each other. πŸ™‚

  • Diana November 22, 2009, 8:40 pm

I love those sneakers! I got some cute faux leather boots at Target that were in the $30 price range. very comfy and useful for Chicago weather. good luck!

  • RhodeyGirl November 22, 2009, 8:53 pm

PB just had thai too (and I had surprise hazelnut gelato that he brought me). I think I might want to run more races so I have the excuse to eat a big bowl of gelato haha!

Love all your notes Caitlin! Have a great night!

  • Betty November 22, 2009, 8:54 pm

Those sneakers are freakin’ cute!!!! Hope you like the movie. I really liked it and I didn’t even watch the show.

  • Jessica @ How Sweet It Is November 22, 2009, 8:54 pm

Your sister in law is gorgeous!

  • Priyanka November 22, 2009, 9:02 pm

I think your sister in law is gorgeous, I thought their eyes look similar!!

I hope you like the movie, I liked it!

  • Susan November 22, 2009, 9:10 pm

Shopping tuckers me out now too. My wallet likes it though!

Honestly, I don’t think they look alike either! But do they act similar? My sisters and I don’t look anything alike, but put us in a room together and we start gabbing and laughing in our own language, then there’s no doubt we’re sisters πŸ˜‰

    • caitlin November 23, 2009, 6:07 am

hmmm. well, they are both british πŸ™‚

  • Jolene ( November 22, 2009, 9:12 pm

Wow – your sister in law is very pretty. I don’t think her and the hubby look alike, but he is cute too πŸ™‚

  • Christie November 22, 2009, 9:28 pm

I think your hubs and SIL have similar facial features but it’s not very obvious.

It always seems like when I have $, I can’t find anything that I like. Times like now (when I’m broke) there is stuff I want to buy EVERYWHERE! I guess that how it goes…

  • Matt November 22, 2009, 9:29 pm

I really like that hat πŸ˜‰

  • Lauren November 22, 2009, 9:33 pm

Oh my gosh, go back and buy those sneaks! TOO CUTE! Now if only they come in Chiuaua, I’m all over them too. πŸ˜‰

Malls stress me out too. Funny because I clearly remember feeling like my world would end without a weekend trip to the mall in the teen years. Odd how we change with age. πŸ˜‰
Glad you had a great day!

  • Marissa November 22, 2009, 9:37 pm

Yum! Thai food is always awesome!

  • MarathonVal November 22, 2009, 9:41 pm

It’s so hard to find non-leather boots, but it IS possible! Any knockoff store will be sure to have them though… think Target, Payless, etc. πŸ™‚

  • Jess (What's Normal, Anyways?) November 22, 2009, 10:14 pm

ummmm, I love Panang curry; it’s my Thai Comfort Food! Yes, I have comfort foods in multiple cuisines!

Bummer on the lack luster shopping, but you know how it is…some days the items are all over the place and some days, well it’s just not our day!

    Have a great Sunday night.

  • Diana (Mymarblerye) November 22, 2009, 10:19 pm

    1) star trek is so good! (nerd alert) 2) TRUE foodies always find bars/half bars in their purse 3) if you and your hubby and ever have kids they are gonna be GORGEOUS. 4) show us what you got lady! i love to shop!

  • Morgan @ Life After Bagels November 22, 2009, 10:33 pm

I totally think that your husband and his sis look alike, I can see it, not twins or anything, but definitely a resemblance. What’s funny is that I don’t think my boyfriend and my bro in law look anything alike but everyone can see it.

  • Lisa (bakebikeblog) November 22, 2009, 10:56 pm

Ooooh those shoes are AWESOME! I want a pair πŸ™‚

  • Bronwyn November 22, 2009, 11:21 pm

    Those sneakers are super cute.

And Star Trek is awesome! Enjoy it!

  • Nekeisha November 22, 2009, 11:35 pm

I suck at telling if people look alike unless they are identical but I think they have the same mouth and are very similar around the eyes. Sophie has great skin. Some genetic features skip a generation that’s why alot of siblings don’t look alike.

  • Marina November 23, 2009, 12:34 am

A great dinner AND a Star trek movie. Sounds like a perfect night to me!

  • TorontoGirloutWest November 23, 2009, 12:35 am

I think I see the similarity in their eyes! πŸ˜‰

  • Annabananabomb November 23, 2009, 12:49 am

Your hubby is a hottie! and you look A-DOR-A-BLE in that hat, I think you should maybe definitely buy it πŸ˜‰

Just wondering if you have any advice on how I should share my blog with my “real life” family and friends? I’ve moved over to wordpress and started really thinking hard about my posts, hoping to create something well written that I’m proud to share…. now that I think I’m close to that point I don’t know how to tell non-blog peeps that I’m blogging!

Happy shopping (I hate shopping too, unless it’s online because I like getting packages!)

    • caitlin November 23, 2009, 6:08 am

i just showed people my blog when i was explaining it to them. that helped. πŸ™‚ “food blog” is too abstract for most people to get.

  • Allison R. November 23, 2009, 1:26 am

They look similar if you just look at their faces, but the hair is what makes it hard to see past that lol! I actually have a question for you-

I took a break from running for awhile now (due to an injury) and within the past few weeks I’ve SLOWLY eased into it (the correct way!) Buuuut…when I was running tonight I felt what I think may be shin splints. I have never had them before, it it wasn’t grueling pain, but defiantly noticeable. I have a 4.5 mile race on Thanksgiving day, do you think I should just not run until then? Or do you think I shouldn’t do the race at all? I know you’ve had a few injuries so I thought I’d ask πŸ™‚

Also, if you have ever had shin splints, what did you do for them? I’ve found some info online, but I wanted to check if you have any tricks. Thanks!

    • caitlin November 23, 2009, 6:10 am

i think if you’d had them ONCE, you’re probably OK. shin splints are only really bad for you if you start to bruise. otherwise, it’s just painful. i would just ice and elevate them when you are done running and probably walk going down the hills. but make sure its shin splits – google symptoms of shin splints to make sure you have them and not something else. if the feeling is generalized around the front of your lower leg and there’s not one specific place that hurts, you’ve got SS.

    • Nicole November 23, 2009, 7:11 am

How long have you had your shoes for? I know that it’s time to replace my shoes when I start getting shin splints!! Good luck!

      • Allison R. November 23, 2009, 10:40 am

Thanks guys! Yeah, they are almost new shoes, so I’m guessing it’s just because I haven’t ran for awhile.

  • Tasha - The Clean Eating Mama November 23, 2009, 1:59 am

Looks like you had a great Sunday! πŸ™‚

  • Nicole November 23, 2009, 7:11 am

Caitlin, I just wanted to tell you that these photos look beautiful!! You are quite the photographer!!

  • Paige (Running Around Normal) November 23, 2009, 7:45 am

Yay operation beautiful notes!! Sounds like a fun trip!
    That thai dish sounds great.

  • Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg November 23, 2009, 7:46 am

Haha…those daschund shoes are something I would get super excited about, totally buy, and then never, ever wear. Which applies to about half of my closet, sadly.

I’m not a Star Trek fan, but my husband really wants to see that one. Do you think a non-trekie would like it too?

    • caitlin November 23, 2009, 7:47 am

      i liked it!

  • Diana November 23, 2009, 8:27 am

I think the shoes are pretty cute! And they could definitely be related!

  • Sarah @ See Sarah Eat November 23, 2009, 8:35 am

I think they have similar eyes, so I could see it. I think it’s the difference in hair color that throws people off πŸ˜‰

Glad you had fun shopping, those shoes were so cute!

  • Tina November 23, 2009, 9:15 am

Loooove Thai food. When I get home I’m definitely going to go get my favorite pad thai asap!

  • Samma November 23, 2009, 9:35 am

Your pics from the new camera look so incredible!

  • Erin November 23, 2009, 9:54 am

The husband and Sophie definitely look alike but I think the difference in hair color (and the Hubs beard) probably throw people off.

I LOVE those doggie Chucks. So cute!

  • Kara November 23, 2009, 10:30 am

Look at those cute Chucks! They seriously don’t lack on the creativity!

  • Ashley November 23, 2009, 10:38 am

    You need those shoes!

Star Trek rocked my socks off btw. Trekkie for life!

  • Beth @ DiningAndDishing November 23, 2009, 12:10 pm

shopping with a fun holiday drink is one of the best parts of the holidays :O). glad you had a fun sunday!

  • Nicole (dishin') November 23, 2009, 3:45 pm

    Looks like a fun day!

  • Kristi November 23, 2009, 3:48 pm

I love to grab a starbucks drink while I shop, it makes it seem so festive πŸ™‚ Also, your sister-in-law and hubby do not look a like. I would have never guessed they were brother and sister… I guess it’s better they ask him if that is really his sister than if they were together πŸ™‚

  • natalie November 23, 2009, 3:58 pm

Too funny about the waitress. I actually think they look SO MUCH ALIKE. When i saw the picture that is the first thing I thought. Its funny how we all see things differently!! πŸ™‚

  • Juani November 24, 2009, 7:24 am

Your hubby and his sister’s coloring just differs a lot,and that makes them look quite different. If he had dark hair,or she a more reddish color,I think they would look way more alike.

Either way, they are BOTH very attractive!LOL
