What a day!  I ended up running AGAIN this evening because the Husband and our friend Harry.  We did another 1.8 miles in 24:00 minutes (we did intervals of 1:30 minute of running and then 2:00 minutes of walking).  I didn’t intend to run twice today, but it was really fun to run with the boys.  I hope they keep it up!

I’m skipping the rest of my evening post in lieu of a special guest post from the Husband!  I think this is the first one he’s ever done.  🙂

Guest Post from the Husband:  Canes Vs. the Noles

Hello, everyone!  Husband here.  My real name is Kristien, in case you didn’t know.  :)  As you might have heard from Caitlin, I am a crazy University of Miami Hurricanes fan.

IMG00108

On Monday, I drove with my friend Matthew (who is a Florida State fan) for the UM vs. FSU game.  We felt very mature and grown-up that we could go to the game together and be good sports.

IMG00115

I was pumped to set up our tailgating tent for the first time.  Caitlin and I have all kinds of sweet tailgating plans for the rest of the season (we have season tickets).

Everyone said I had to eat at the famous MoMo’s Pizza while I was up in Tallahassee.  This is where we went to lunch:

P9060024

The slogan for MoMo’s is that they have "pizzas as big as your head."  It’s true.  I got one slice of veggie pizza, and I ate it all.

IMG00109

It was literally TWICE the size of my head.

Our vegetarian tailgating food included:

  • Veggie burgers with cheese
  • Grilled corn on the cob
  • Stacy’s Pita Chips and hummus
  • Watermelon
  • Oranges
  • Iced Tea
  • Coconut Water
  • Lots of San Pelligrino and Water

These were the guys tailgating next to us:

    P9060032

    P9060033

    Now that’s some school spirit!

I was also dressed up (and carrying a man purse… containing binoculars):

    P9060038

(Caitlin is in charge of carrying my man purse for the next game.)

Regarding the game…. all that really matters is that WE WON!  It was the greatest game I’ve ever watched.  The Canes took down the Noles in a game that really could’ve gone either way.  I was extremely happy with everyone’s sportsmanship.  All the fans were really classy (especially this dude).

    P9060063

Honey – Can I get approval for this hair style for the next game?

Stay tuned for most tailgating recaps this Fall.  We’re going to 8 more games (plus a potential ACC championship!).  C-A-N-E-S!

    • Susan September 9, 2009, 6:32 pm

Loved it!! Not sure if I'd want acupuncture from a dude with a letter shaved on his head though 😛

    • Jessica September 9, 2009, 6:34 pm

Kristien! Love your recap! Great post with lots of good pics! Looks like you had a blast! Great healthy and yummy eats at your tailgate! I totally vote for the the hair style for next game!

    • Leianna September 9, 2009, 6:40 pm

HAHA thats funny, your husband is great, so into his team! Tailgating is so much fun, even better with rivalries.
      Love the man purse too!

    • vegetarianontherun September 9, 2009, 6:41 pm

Love love LOVEEEEEEEE College football season. It breaks my heart that I live 3000 miles from my undergrad and I can't participate in the greatness. Most annoying is that the local TV does NOT cover the Pac 10, and sadly only shows ACC (no offense!!)

    • visforveronica September 9, 2009, 6:45 pm

I think you should approve the hairstyle for sure……

    • Maggie September 9, 2009, 6:45 pm

      Looks like fun!

    • Beth September 9, 2009, 6:46 pm

Men and their football! Sorry Kristien, but my husband is a Tennessee fan and a Carolina grad with a bias against any team from Florida 🙂

    • Lizzy September 9, 2009, 7:00 pm

Kristien you are the MAN!!!!! i love tailgating, and you did a fine job at that 🙂

we all need to join in on all the fun next time

    • amy. September 9, 2009, 8:02 pm

LOVE Kristien's post! The man purse is too funny. I've always loved Miami's colors…

    • megan September 9, 2009, 8:06 pm

hahaha, the husband is so funny! who knew?! If I had to choose between the two teams, it's likely I'd choose Miami (I choose according to colors, and orange makes me VERY happy)! so yay for the win! I vote for the hair style, and for Caitlin carrying the murse. Although, i must say, the man purse is one giant step above a fanny pack… that would've been embarrassing!

    • Joelle (The Pancake Girl) September 9, 2009, 8:15 pm

Oh that is too cute. Btw, they have pizza JUST like that in D.C.- jumbo slices are amazing after a long night out!

    • bites4thebetter September 9, 2009, 8:31 pm

OMG. This guest post made me very happy. Boys and their sports… I have two brothers and a dad that are TOTAL fanatics. It's embarrassing.

I love their little vegetarian tailgating party! So cute and MACHO. 🙂

    • Morgan (lifeafterbagels) September 9, 2009, 8:43 pm

    • Nicole September 9, 2009, 10:52 pm

Your hubby is soooo funny and cute!!! Unfortunately, my hubby is a noles fan, and he was very disappointed! I am going to UF, but could care less that I'm a gator. I just show up to the games when we are in town to have a good time!!

    • Thinspired September 10, 2009, 12:57 am

    • teacherwoman September 10, 2009, 4:41 am

Wow! looks like fun. Looks like some hardcore fans! I kind of wish I would have gone to a University that had a basketball team in the NCAA division (like UNC), those fans are nuts!

    • Lauren @ Dragonflies Journey September 10, 2009, 4:54 am

Love the guest blogger! Such a cute idea!

    • Jolene - EverydayFoodie September 10, 2009, 6:38 am

      I just can't help myself…GO GATORS!

    • Deb (Smoothie Girl Eats Too) September 10, 2009, 7:16 am

4 words: Real. Men. Eat. Salad. Go hubby! OK, Caitlin I'm confused. When did Kristien go from being a shrinking violet (oh don't take my photo) to Mr. Outgoing!?!!?! In one day this happened? Hilarious! PS. I've never in my life seen a "slice" of pizza that big.

    • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point September 10, 2009, 7:23 am

Deb – I hope to see more of him on the blog 🙂 He is normally shy 🙂

    • brandi September 10, 2009, 8:12 am

      what a fun post!

While I'm a Hokie fan, I did watch the game and have to say, it was amazing! What a great game. I'll cheer for the ACC against any other conference, all the way!

    • Low September 10, 2009, 8:26 am

Love the Vegetarian tailgate! I was rooting for Miami, but won't be when they play my Sooners next month 😉

That slice of pizza is insane!
