Breakfast Day

in All Posts

I woke up at 5:30 AM to have some time to myself.  I get my best work done before the sun rises, and today I was just a busy little bee.   Around 6:40, I took a break to do some strength training moves:

  • 30 crunches with 3 lb weight push-ups (a No More Trouble Zones move)
  • 30 push-ups
  • 10 v-fly sit-ups
  • 6 10-second wall squats
  • Physical Therapy knee moves

And then I made breakfast:

I had two whole wheat waffles that I topped with Greek yogurt, maple syrup, a sliced banana, and almonds.

Honestly, it was the best breakfast I’ve had in a while.

I’m declaring today Breakfast Day.  I have fun breakfast meals planned for lunch and dinner — I just LOVE breakfast.  It is by far my favorite (and the best tasting) meal of the day.

43 Marathons in 7 Weeks

British comedian Eddie Izzard just finished a 1,110-mile long run for charity.  He ran 6 days a week for 7 weeks.

Eddie Izzard (EddieIzzard.com)

According to this article, Eddie, 47, failed to beat his five hour target for the final marathon by just 30 seconds.  He said: "I don’t think what I did was that amazing. Anyone could do it." (ummmm, no).

Eddie went through 14 pairs of shoes and lost several toenails.

Crazy, huh?

  • Shannon September 17, 2009, 5:11 am

I can't fathom running 1 marathon, let alone multiple marathons in a matter of days!

I am a huge fan of breakfast foods. Omelets or pancakes for dinner are common for me.

  • christie, honoring health September 17, 2009, 5:14 am

That's a lot of running?! Well done to him, I know I couldn't do that.

    All day breakfast rocks!

  • emily September 17, 2009, 5:21 am

I love breakfast foods too, other than the fact that I love pizza for breakfast the most 🙂

  • liveloveeatandplay September 17, 2009, 5:26 am

That is incredible. It's amazing what the human body is capable of. Definitely not something I ever saw Eddie Izzard doing!

  • Whitney@whitsgettingfit September 17, 2009, 5:34 am

Wow! I am totally impressed by this guy.

  • Amari September 17, 2009, 5:37 am

Wow thats wild, talk about inspiration for runners! Breakfast is definetely my all time favorite meal but can never bring myself to wake up early enough to make something fabulous! I guess that makes weekend brunch extra sweet! What's your secret to getting out of bed before the sun rises?

  • emily September 17, 2009, 5:40 am

His toenails fell off because he was running in high heels.
C'mon, has anyone else seen "Dressed to Kill"? He's an executive transvestite!

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point September 17, 2009, 5:41 am

Amari – My secret is setting the alarm clock 🙂 I have so much work to do between the blogs and my job that if I didn't get up at 5:30, it wouldn't be possible. I don't really have a choice to me honest.

  • brandi September 17, 2009, 5:42 am

    that's insane!

I can't WAIT to see breakfast day 🙂 it's my favorite meal and i would eat it all day long if I could, too.

  • seesaraheat September 17, 2009, 5:48 am

I loooove breakfast. I could eat it all the time, forget everything else, hehe.

    Have a great day!

  • recipesforcreativity September 17, 2009, 5:55 am

    Wow…that is amazing.

I love working early in the morning, too – so funny, I just blogged about the same thing. Also, breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, too! (Possibly because there aren't usually vegetables, lol)

  • greensandjeans September 17, 2009, 6:09 am

I recently started getting up a half hour earlier than usual and it is amazing at how much more I can accomplish!

  • Steph September 17, 2009, 6:14 am

  • Jolene - EverydayFoodie September 17, 2009, 6:29 am

Breakfast all day!! I can't wait to see what you have 🙂

  • Sarah September 17, 2009, 6:45 am

yum! Bfast is my fav too! I think I'm wierd, though, because I don't consider eggs a breakfast food…they are much more appropriate for lunch and dinner!

  • Jo September 17, 2009, 6:55 am

the most amazing thing about Eddie Izzard is he only trained for 5 weeks beforehand! he did it for Sports Relief – basically its a huge thing in the UK which uses Sport to raise money for various things.

But you should read some of the stuff – he had to ice his body twice a day and they are saying he might have done irrepairable damage to his body.

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day too!!

  • Beth September 17, 2009, 7:02 am

I LOVE Eddie Izzard! Caitlin, are you a fan? He has some awesome intelligent, dry, British humor, which you and hubby may enjoy…his DVD "Dressed to Kill" is one of the best ever.

love the idea of a breakfast day

  • Jessica September 17, 2009, 7:18 am

Your breakfast looks sooo good. I am anxious to hear more about your vegetarian liftstyle and dislike of veggies as I struggle with the same thing. 🙂

  • Samantha~ September 17, 2009, 7:18 am

Wow….I am speechless. Some people amaze me beyond imagination! I haven't even broke 3 miles in a run, let alone what he did. Something to aspire too!

I haven't made waffles in…I can't remember. I should get a waffle maker, the last one we had wasn't so good. Yea for breakfasts!!!

  • Kate September 17, 2009, 7:20 am

Yum, I LOVE breakfast. That waffle topped with yogurt looks delicious. I've eaten them side-by-side, but never mooshed together before.

Can't wait to see what you have planned for lunch and dinner 🙂

Yes, he is a little crazy…but good on him!

  • Allison (Balance in Bites) September 17, 2009, 7:45 am

Wait, he ran one marathon a day for 6 days out of 7, for 7 straight weeks?

    That's unfathomable.

  • Jenn Eats Nutritiously Now September 17, 2009, 7:49 am

"anyone could do it" Ha! I don't think so! That's pretty remarkable.

  • Notes From the Grove September 17, 2009, 7:53 am

Wow, that IS amazing. I can barely walk from the couch to the fridge! (Haha–totally kidding.) Honestly though, that is really cool of him.

And your breakfast sounds great! I keep hearing about Greek yogurt. The name freaks me out but if you say it's good, maybe I oughtta give it a try. I really like peanut butter and baked (microwaved) apples on my waffle. YUM!

  • Anne Marie September 17, 2009, 7:54 am

That's insane and awesome at the same time!

  • Kristen @ frostingandfroth.com September 17, 2009, 7:56 am

I'm all over this Breakfast Day idea! It's by far my favorite meal as well. I see a pancake dinner in my future…

Eddie Izzard's charity run sounds so awesome. What a great idea and brave undertaking!

  • healthyfitmama September 17, 2009, 8:06 am

    I love Eddie Izzard!

Have you seen Running the Sahara? Documentary about three guys who run across the Sahara, something like 4800 miles in 111 days. It was interesting (although I would have like to see a little more about their preparation for it; it mostly just focused on the running itself). Worth a watch!

  • Niki September 17, 2009, 9:11 am

That is totally crazy! And he said he only trained for 5 weeks!

  • Taylor September 17, 2009, 10:47 am

LOL I agree with your "ummmm no." Crazy guy! Incredible!

  • Amy P. September 17, 2009, 11:03 am

  • lilveggiepatch September 17, 2009, 12:10 pm
