The winner of the Flax Matters giveaway is Heather.  She won 3 one-pound bags of flax and pancake mix – yay!  Congrats, Heather!

Organization Week continues to amaze me!  There is something so powerful about declaring your goal and outlining your plan of attack.  Instead of saying, "I’m going to get organized this week," I picked out a specific task each day.  This has allowed me to organize with purpose.

Last night’s task was clean out the utility closet, which I tackled this morning because I didn’t feel too well last night.

Ta da! (Yes, the closet is now organized.  It’s still cluttered, but at least it’s organized!)

I can close the doors now!

Our little patio serves many functions because we don’t have a garage.  In addition to our laundry area, our patio is also our storage area, bike area, plant area, and sitting area:

I ate breakfast while I cleaned.  I had Oikos yogurt, granola, and blackberries.

I feel SO productive when I wake up in the morning and check something off my to-do list.  Makes me feel so (ahem) organized!

Let’s hope the 10 hours of sleep I racked up last night prevents me from crashing at my desk again — I would LOVE to go on a long run tonight.

Would you rather stay up late doing chores or wake up early to get them done?

Congrats on getting that done! I have some shelves I keep meaning to organize but keep putting off…
I'd rather do any cleaning or organizing first thing, like you!

Hey Caitlin- your organization week is so inspirational! I need to set out some goals myself.

So, I recently found out that since greek yogurt is strained, it actually has significantly less calcium than the regular stuff (!!) since the whey is where it is found. This really surprised and disappointed me since not only do I love yogurt, it eat it for the calcium boost. How do you make sure you get in your daily requirement?

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point August 20, 2009, 5:17 am

holly- hmm i didnt know that! interesting. i take a calcium supplement (in addition to glucosamine) everyday.

Hey girl! Nice job on the organization!! 10 hours of sleep? I'm totally jealous. I'd rather get up early to do extra chores, but I usually end up, up early and staying up late too haha.

I would rather wake up early to get them done. I love getting up early on a Saturday morning and doing all the vaccumming, bathroom cleaning, and dusting… it just makes the rest of the weekend feel that much better!

  • Tami August 20, 2009, 5:37 am

    your laundry is outside?

i enjoy chores and housework…we were up early so the whole house got a quick once over…i am an early bird for everything.

    have a great day

I do the same thing and pick one project at a time. I just moved, so right now, everyday I have another project. Today: Hang pictures. Congrats on a productive morning!

I think after all the HLS work that your body needed that 10 hours of sleep. I find that I can go,go,go and then I will crash for a day.

    Wonder if that's healthy?

I'd rather wake up early and get everything done before I start my day. It makes me feel super productive and really sets the tone for the day!

Hey caitlin! Organization week is such a success. So exciting, and such a greata feeling!

I think i would rather stay up late and get stuff done, i'm a night person so i wouldnt mind i dont think

Your organization week is going so well!!

I'm definitely a night owl cleaner. FH is often away or at least at work over night (Navy) and I find myself totally cleaning the house at midnight. Of course, it helps that I'm already a neat freak so when I'm bored or alone I totally notice all the little things that need cleaning or organizing and can't just let them sit! 🙂

Keep up the good work girl!!

Great job on the closet! I would much rather wake up early. And that is what I do! I am just so drained at night, I get everything done better with fresh eyes and energy in the morning.

And to that comment about greek yogurt — the straining makes it MUCH easier to digest than other dairy. I consider it a blessing.

  • Pam (Highway to Health) August 20, 2009, 6:04 am

I would definitely rather get up early! I have to force myself to get things done at night. 10 hours of sleep is amazing. I bet you feel great today!

  • Melissanibbles August 20, 2009, 6:12 am

Great job on the closet! It was just the inspiration I needed to clean my own closet. Thanks for the kick in the butt!

  • brandi August 20, 2009, 6:40 am

glad you got it done this morning! it would depend on the chore – sometimes I don't mind staying up to do or finish something, but I do like getting a head start on the day, too.

  • Paige@ Running Around Normal August 20, 2009, 7:11 am

Nice job! The laundry area looks a lot better:)

I am so one to wake up early and get things done. even in college, I never pulled all-nighters. It's hooeless because I can't function when I needs my sleep.

  • seesaraheat August 20, 2009, 7:19 am

I'm so much more productive in the morning, so I prefer to get up a few minutes early to tackle a chore if I need to 😉

  • Joelle (The Pancake Girl) August 20, 2009, 7:53 am

Good job staying on task! I usually will stay up late cleaning… I'll get a random surge of energy and just want to get it done. I hate to go to sleep with a mess hanging over my head!

  • Marisa (Trim The Fat) August 20, 2009, 7:59 am

    Great job!

Would you rather stay up late doing chores or wake up early to get them done?

Neither – LOL! But, if I had to choose, I'll pick early; I'm toast at night!

  • Jenna August 20, 2009, 8:11 am

omg i would totally stay up later and do chores rather than waking up early!

Ok, I admit it, I'm downright envious of your ability to "get organized" this week. I am such a slob! I'm hoping to tackle the closet this weekend because I would love to know if I have room for some new fall clothes ;o)

I would much rather wake up early – like you, I really enjoy feeling productive early in the morning so that I can relax later at night!

    Good luck today!

  • Jolene - EverydayFoodie August 20, 2009, 9:40 am

I always get a lot of energy at night, and that is when I want to tackle big projects like organizing everything, etc. But I try to do it in the morning/ day.

  • platipus329 August 20, 2009, 9:54 am

Definitely wake up early. I'm just more productive in the a.m.

  • Nicole (dishin') August 20, 2009, 12:05 pm

    Great post. Very encouraging.

I'm a morning person. I like to get stuff done so I can relax later.

  • BOBBI McCORMICK August 20, 2009, 4:54 pm

You have inspired me so much this week girl!!! I considered myself an organize freak but for some reason there are still a few things I need to get together, my closet, food pantry, dressers, and even my patio!!! I think next week I will declare Organization week, is that ok!!! I will tottaly give you all the credit!!

  • Stephanie August 21, 2009, 7:11 am
