Sorry the apartment tour video died — I can’t get it back!  It was cute, too.  But here’s a summary:

  • We live in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment.
  • All of my bedroom furniture except the bed is stuff I found at vintage shops and repainted.
  • All of our paintings were done by my mother-in-law.
  • Our second bedroom is our acupuncture room / office.
  • My balcony serves a dual purpose of being my bike rack. 🙂
  • Our closets are really messy.

I actually got soooo sick again this afternoon that I ended up leaving work early! I do not know what’s wrong with me, but my vision was literally SWIMMING (I actually laid down on the floor to make it stop!) and I dry-heaved into the toilet (No, I’m not pregnant).

I tried to get some food down to see if it would make me feel better:

Yogurt, banana, and blueberries.

Unfortunately, that did not make me feel better so I laid down for a few hours.  That helped a little, so I went to my night job.

Before I left, I had minestrone soup and an English muffin with melty cheese.

While I was at my night shift, I ate this ginormous chocolate chip cookie.  It was seriously the size of my palm.  It was delicious.  I know "emotional eating" gets slammed as purely "bad," but occasionally, eating something crappy really does improve my mood! :)  Chocolate = awesome.    I didn’t have my camera with me, so just visualize an gooey, chocolately, delicious cookie.  It was worth every extra calorie!

OK – bed time.  I hope my mysterious illness goes away!

I totally agree on the emotional eating front! Sometimes I think there emotional eating is eating intuitively, because your are helping your body feel better. I think it is important to draw the line when emotional eating is the ONLY coping mechanism (rather than balanced with exercise, meditation, etc…) Clearly not something you have to worry about.

I’m sorry that you got so sick! 🙁 I wonder what it is? Maybe from over-tiredness? Poor girlie (hugs). I would have had that cookie too! I don’t think there is anything wrong with emotional eating every now and then, I think everyone does it!

Oh no, you said mysterious illness – I bet I know what some people are going to suggest!!

(I know, it’s annoying – I had a 24 hour flu, a 102 fever, walking pneumonia and had my period and was getting accused of being pregnant. There’s no escaping it as a newlywed).

  • Jennifer @ His N' Her Health June 1, 2009, 8:00 pm

I get accused of being pregnant all the time even though I was just blessed with an extremely queasy tummy! Sorry you aren’t feeling well. I agree with your emotional eating and totally wanted to indulge in some today (thought I haven’t…yet), and you are making me want a huge cookie! Hope you feel better!

Sorry your stomach isn’t feeling so great 🙁

I hope you feel better! I still feel awful, too. Had to take the day off work. I rarely get sick, and I absolutely hate it when I do! Here’s to both of us getting better quickly!

Aww I hope you feel better! There’s nothing worse than getting sick, especially during the summer time! And emotional eating is FABULOUS! I can only picture that gooey chocolate chip cookie.. mmmm!

I was lucky enough to see your tour video before it went down. Awesome video! I love your place. Your dogs are so frikken adorable! I hope you feel better soon though!

I hope you feel better soon! Must be some weird little bug.
And, I know you posted about this already, but I just watched the New Moon trailer for the first time, and OH MY GOD, that looks awesome!!! I have been holding off, waiting to read the 3rd book. I’ve tried to space them out so I don’t become a total zombie with reading them. But I think I may need to dive in pretty soon. 🙂

    Caitlin,
I felt the same way not too long ago. Turns out I was severely dehydrated and my electrolytes were all out of whack. I had to up my salt intake, and add more potassium to my diet. It took me a month to get my levels back to normal, but I’m feeling much better now.

P.S. – Glad you enjoyed the cookie. 🙂

Sorry you’ve been feeling bad 🙁 that’s no good. Hope whatever it is goes away quickly!

    The cookie sounds tasty 🙂

  • jenngirl June 1, 2009, 9:17 pm

Hope you feel better!! And I definitely don’t consider a chocolate chip cookie anything more than a well deserved treat for you! 🙂

  • Kimberly June 1, 2009, 9:45 pm

Oh no, sorry you’re sick! Could it be a food allergy, or stress-related? Sometimes a cookie makes everything better 🙂

  • BethAnn Caputo June 1, 2009, 11:36 pm

I don’t necessarily think of it as “emotional eating”. I eat healthy 90% of the time…if I’m in a bad mood and I want to hang out in front of the TV with Ben and Jerry..I do it and I don’t think twice about it. There’s no reason to give into cravings when you’re in a crappy mood every so often. For me…this happens probably about once a week haha! But you know what…you only live once…and life should always be happy…if that means eating a chocolate chip cookie the size of your palm…girl…eat up! 🙂

  • BethAnn Caputo June 1, 2009, 11:38 pm

I mean…there’s no reason to NOT give into the cravings…give in, give in!

I hope you feel better, Caitlin! I’ve got a mystery illness as well, booooo!

  • NoMeatAthlete June 2, 2009, 3:23 am

If you’re sick and you’re generally healthy, I’m all for emotional eating. If you can afford to do it once in a while, do it!

  • Meredith June 2, 2009, 3:44 am

Could it be vertigo? I had this last spring and it was terrible! I was dizzy and sick to my stomach.

    I hope you feel better!

  • Matt June 2, 2009, 4:08 am

Cookies cheer me up too 🙂

  • Lauren June 2, 2009, 4:10 am

Sorry you wern’t feeling well. I find myself emotionally eating at time, but I really think that everyone is guilty of this from time to time. It’s not really such a bad thing, so long as you are able to keep your emtions and eating in check. So you had a bad day and you comfort yourself with a cookie or a glass on wine…no big deal, I think the problems come in when you eat an entire box of cookies or drink the entire bottle.

Hope you enjoyed every bite of that awesome cookie!
    Take care of yourself hun!

    chocolate chip cookie?! Heck yeah!
I hope that you are feeling better, give in to the healing power of chocolate 😉

I really admire the healthy relationship that you have with food. And you’re right..every one needs a GIANT cookie from time to time!

  • Low June 2, 2009, 7:43 am

Those pancakes looked tasty. I always burn my pancakes… so looking at yours makes me sad, haha.

I hope you get to feeling better soon!!

  • Megan June 2, 2009, 4:53 pm

Sorry you had an off day! I hope things get better 😀

  • seesaraheat June 2, 2009, 5:03 pm

I agree that every now and then an emotional eat (like a cookie) can improve ones mood! Its just keeping yourself from eating 10 cookies (or having a big cookie everyday) that makes it a challenge (for me). I’m glad it made you feel better and I hope this illness goes away soon!
