Tour of Our Apartment

I wanted to share a tour of my apartment after seeing Kath’s home.   I made this video during my lunch break.  :)

This is our life as we really live it — messy closets and all! :)

((Sorry, the video isn’t working anymore! I’ll re-post if it fixes itself))

Enjoy!

Cool! I loved seeing Kath’s place and I loved seeing your place, too! You guys have WAY more closet space than me, and I own a house! It was built in the 50’s, though, and I just don’t think people had as much crap, I mean, wonderful things, as they do today!

  • Amanda June 1, 2009, 10:53 am

So fun – thanks for sharing!! Your dogs are adorable 🙂

  • Courtney (The Hungry Yogini) June 1, 2009, 10:54 am

Love the house tour!!! Maybe I’ll hop on board too =)

Love all the closet space. And of course the giant TVs!!!

  • BOBBI McCORMICK June 1, 2009, 10:55 am

love love love it girl!!! Hubby is going to put my medals in a chadow box, just an idea:) Thanks for being real!

  • Olga June 1, 2009, 10:57 am

haha cute. I love the way your bedroom turned out!

  • Amy June 1, 2009, 10:58 am

cute video, Caitlin–thanks for the tour! It’s always interesting to hear the actual voices of the people I read, too.

  • Brandi June 1, 2009, 11:01 am

    I love egg sandwiches 🙂

We have a house and you have about 5-6 MORE closets than we do! Our house was built in the 40s, though, so people had less stuff 🙂

Is it strange that your voice sounds totally different than I thought it would? It’s so weird how we think we know how people look/sound just from seeing them in pictures of emailing.

  • Lindsay June 1, 2009, 11:01 am

    Loved seeing James' tail wag!!

I do the same with my medals, hang them off the closet door handle in my 2nd bedroom. But what I plan on doing is having all 10 engraved with the date & time on them and putting a couple nails in the wall and hang them up next to my shadow box of my first marathon & second marathon frames.

http://lindsaycb.blogspot.com/2009/05/here-they-are.html This is the link for the frames, you can see the spot where I will hang the medals shortly.

  • Julia (Jogging My Memory) June 1, 2009, 11:03 am

What a great post! I love seeing the different ways people decorate! I absolutely love your bedroom furniture, it all ties together so nicely! My fiance also requires that we have a huge nice TV, because we watch way too much of it!
Thanks for sharing another piece of your life with us!

  • Jennifer @ His N' Her Health June 1, 2009, 11:05 am

You have way more closet space than us and we have a house, and it isn’t a very old house either! Loved the tour!

  • Meganerd June 1, 2009, 11:05 am

Such a cool idea! I want to do a tour of my apartment now! lol

I’m jealous of your tvs. I have a small boxey tv from my dorm still lol.

  • Bec June 1, 2009, 11:07 am

love the tour, I think I’ll do one too! My metals from high school are hanging in my bedroom on a rack my dad bought me but my university ones are kind of all over the place…

  • kirsten June 1, 2009, 11:11 am

what a nice place!! also you have such a cute slight southern accent 🙂

  • Erica June 1, 2009, 11:13 am

This was such a fun post! I love it. Josh and I eat at our coffee table too. I love the personal paintings- Josh’s sister painted a few of the pics in our house and I love them.

Hi Maggie!! She is such a cutie.

I like the color of the bedroom- its a very calming blue.

  • Meganerd June 1, 2009, 11:19 am

Oh! and I meant to say that I hang my medals over my desk so I can look at them for motivation. I posted a blog about that this morning!

  • Nicole (anotheronebitesthecrust.wordpress.com) June 1, 2009, 11:23 am

I love the tour of the apartment! I think I might do one 😀

  • SweetPea June 1, 2009, 11:24 am

Thanks for the great tour of your place. I’m also jealous of all of your closets because our townhouse doesn’t have the greatest storage, even with the little one-car garage!

  • Hi! I'm Erin June 1, 2009, 11:26 am

Nice tour! I love home tours 🙂 I’m glad other people do them. I want to do one of our house, too, but I’m always afraid it will seem like I’m bragging or something.

I only have two medals (even though I’ve run over 10 races) and one is technically a key chain. So, I use the key chain one and the other one I put in a shadow box with some race memorabilia. I wanted to put the medal in a frame next to a photo of me at the finish line, but the finish line photo was horrible! You could barely even tell who I was. So, no photo 🙂 The shadow box is currently sitting on my desk at home but once I move offices at work I’m going to hang it up in there.

  • Susan June 1, 2009, 11:34 am

You have a wonderful apartment!! I’m jealous of all your closet space. I don’t have any that aren’t in the bedrooms so all my junk is out in the open.

I actually thought the neatest part about the video was hearing the way you talk!! I work in radio, so I always take notice of people’s voices. You kind of have an accent?? But I live in Atlantic Canada, so I bet you’d think I have an accent too 😛

  • Beth June 1, 2009, 11:42 am

    TOO CUTE!

    Especially the doggies…

  • SuzanneRN June 1, 2009, 11:42 am

I just love tours of peoples’ homes! It reminds me a friend’s apt. in Pembroke Pines.

Thank you for sharing! Beautifully decorated! Very clean too! But obviously the dogs were my favorite part since I am crazy about my little canine friends.

  • Julie June 1, 2009, 11:43 am

Ha! My ex-boyfriend has the same bed!

    Love the place!

  • Megan June 1, 2009, 11:44 am

    Caitlin,
I loved seeing your apartment – it is so nice!!! I really love your bedroom. And seeing the doggies in real life was awesome!

I too was surprised by your voice. I detected a PA accent there. Where did you grow up?

  • Bula June 1, 2009, 11:45 am

Thanks for sharing your space! It’s quite spacious and I love the dog ledge.

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point June 1, 2009, 11:49 am

    thanks everyone 🙂

megan – i was born in miami but i lived in pittsburgh from age 18 – 22. people say i have a southern accent!

  • KelsNotChels June 1, 2009, 11:53 am

So weird, but AWESOME to hear your voice!! haha! who would have guessed that you’d sound so different then I’d imagined, or even that I would have a preconceived notion of what your voice sounds like at all!? Weird!

But you sound nice, not weird… lol.

  • Amanda's Eats June 1, 2009, 11:54 am

Your apt is so cute! I love your kitchen! Black is so clean looking and you have tons of counter space that I’m jealous of 😛

  • Mrs. LC June 1, 2009, 11:55 am

you’re so cute! haha I bet home tours are going to be stock up in our friendly neighborhood blog stalker’s round up this week. 😉

  • GreenDogWine June 1, 2009, 11:55 am

So fun! I loved seeing your place! My favorite part? Maggie and James in action 🙂 I really think I need to steal them, they are just so darn cute!

  • Jess June 1, 2009, 11:56 am

Thanks for the fun tour. I love seeing how other people decorate and what kinds of furniture they have. fun, fun!
I too have a horseshoe over the door in my condo/apartment but it’s over my bedroom.
I think some others may have mentioned this already, but I think a shadowbox with pictures from the races would be a great way to display and reminisce about your races! You could even line the back of it with your bibs if you still have those, cause I’m a diy- with the materials on hand kinda girl! 😀

  • Sam June 1, 2009, 11:57 am

Ahh you sound so American! (I realise how ridiculous that comment is, as I already knew you were). I guess like everyone said it’s strange hearing people’s voiced after only every reading things they’ve written!

  • Tami June 1, 2009, 12:05 pm

once I built up a small collection of medals, I plan to send mine here
    http://www.medals4mettle.org/

there was an article in Runner’s World awhile ago about this

    your southern accent was surprising!

  • Orla June 1, 2009, 12:06 pm

I completely covet your second bedroom!! And I wasn’t expecting your voice to sound like it did either, hehe 😀

  • MaryBe June 1, 2009, 12:13 pm

Oh that was fun! I loved it! Your dogs are so cute! And I love the nonchalant way you have your medals just draped on the doorknob!
Another blog I read, http://www.KellysKornerBlog.com/ does the same thing on Fridays – called Show Us Where You Live. It’s great to see how different everyone is

  • Carrie H June 1, 2009, 12:13 pm

Cute doggies! I love how thier little tails wagged when you said their names! 🙂

  • Marissa June 1, 2009, 12:25 pm

    Great video!

  • Matt June 1, 2009, 12:31 pm

Nice aparment! It’s a lot cleaner than this pigstye!

  • Sheri June 1, 2009, 12:31 pm

What a fun post! I love seeing your apartment…very cute! So are the doggies! I have giant TV’s in my house too…the HUSBAND of course! 🙂 A shadow box for your medals might be a nice idea?

  • Jessica June 1, 2009, 12:35 pm

Caitlin! I loved seeing your apartment. Your voice sounds different than I imagined in my head:)

  • Thinspired June 1, 2009, 12:39 pm

Love it! My husband was walking by as I was watching this and got drawn in..he is SUPER jealous of both of your TV’s 😉 You have a lovely home!

  • Island Girl Eats June 1, 2009, 12:39 pm

You did not sound at all like I expected you to!

The dogs are so cute. I love where James hangs out – good spot!

  • Sarah June 1, 2009, 12:49 pm

aw Maggie and James are making me miss my doggies. I love the squeaker toys…funniest thing happened when one day I heard my dog squeaking away, walked into my parents room and she was on the bed surrounded by stuffing, happily chomping on the white squeaky part. love it.

  • Betsy June 1, 2009, 12:51 pm

Your voice sounds waaay different than I though it would! And where is the husband?? I wanted to hear the accent. 🙂

  • Natalie M. June 1, 2009, 12:52 pm

You are truly brave for opening up your lives to your readers. Bloggers already make themselves quite vulnerable but the fact that you gave the general public a tour of your home is amazing. I’m very appreciative of such a large gesture. Thanks for sharing Caitlin!

  • Rachel June 1, 2009, 12:52 pm

I have to agree with everyone about your voice. It was very unexpected but I like it 🙂

Very cute apartment. My bf is the same way about TVs.

  • Meg C. June 1, 2009, 1:10 pm

i agree about your voice – totally not what i expected! and i also detected a PA accent in there. must be all that time you spent at pitt?

  • Catch Me If You Can June 1, 2009, 1:21 pm

Your place is so cute definitely didn’t think apartment looking at it. I love that your puppies have a window seat so do ours 🙂

  • Caitlin June 1, 2009, 1:25 pm

I noticed you mentioned you lived in PA previously(I do currently). If you don’t mind me asking, is the cost of living a lot more in FL than PA?

    thanks!

  • Tay June 1, 2009, 1:37 pm

Awesome! I love seeing everyone’s places. Especially foodies’ fridges/pantries 🙂

  • Susan June 1, 2009, 1:38 pm

Your apartment is so cute! I’m totally jealous of your TV’s.

  • Stacey June 1, 2009, 2:01 pm

I blog from my “kitchen” table too!! Actually, I do pretty much everything from my kitchen table seeing as how my desk is full of photos, misc papers and cat toys 🙂

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point June 1, 2009, 2:03 pm

other caitlin – actually i think the cost of living is about the same between pitt and orlando. orlando might be a little higher, but not by much. i think there are websites where you can compare the cost of living in two different cities.

  • Melissa @ For the Love of Health June 1, 2009, 2:13 pm

    Amazing looking lunch!

I’ll view the video if it works later 🙂

  • Jennifer June 1, 2009, 2:14 pm

OK I’m seriously in love with your dogs! So cute!

  • K from ksgoodeats June 1, 2009, 2:59 pm

Mmmm bagel sandwiches!! I used to eat one of those almost everyday – so good!

  • Oh She Glows June 1, 2009, 3:10 pm

Aww no I missed it!!! Hope it works!

  • HangryPants June 1, 2009, 4:03 pm

I watched it earlier before it stopped working. It was fun to see where you live! I love your balcony area. Also, I think it’s funny that you said you live on the 2nd floor so you feel safe. When we were looking for apartments I had a no first floor rule!

  • Caitlin June 1, 2009, 4:39 pm

    thank you! 🙂

  • inmytummy June 1, 2009, 4:52 pm

Man, I missed it! I have a feeling that both yours and Kath's houses are way neater than mine!

  • Sarah Mila June 1, 2009, 5:32 pm

I'm sorry I missed the video, I hope you find a way to fix it!

  • adi (oatonomy.com) June 1, 2009, 7:04 pm

  • Justine June 1, 2009, 7:41 pm
