Turnaround

My lazy Sunday ended up being not so lazy, after all!

Our major project:

CIMG2931

We are slowly decorating our bedroom, and the one piece of furniture that was missing was the triple dresser.  And trust me–we could use the extra storage space!

We ended up buying this Ugly Blue Monster at the local Goodwill for $60! We also bought primer, white paint, and new hardware for another $35.

The final result:

It’s really beautiful now AND it matches our TV stand and side tables.  :)  Only 2 more small project and our bedroom is complete!

While painting, I snacked on Oikos (honey flavor) and granola.

CIMG2930

While I waited for the paint to dry so we could put the hardware on, I decided to go for a really fast run.  I definitely did NOT feel motivated to exercise today, but I reminded myself I have a 15.0 mile trail race in a month…. which got my booty out the door!

I ended up running a 5K loop instead of the 6.0 miles I was suppose to do…. and I blew off the Shred today… but something is better than NOTHING! 🙂

  • Duration: 27 minutes (5K)
  • Calories Burned: 250 (estimate)

I never regret a run once it’s over… but I almost always regret skipping one!

Before dinner, I drank a very small glass of Cruz Alta Reserve Malbec 2007.  We really loved this malbec and rated it a 92/100 in our wine book!

Dinner included baked salmon, brown rice, and broc.  Basic, but healthy and delish!

SO MUCH TV TO WATCH!  We’re going to give that new show Kings a shot, and then it’s Big Love time.  BL is awesome, everyone should be watching it!

Good night!

Big Love is amazing. I really love Margene. Have you watched Weeds? I love that show! I didn’t think I’d like it as much as I do!

That dresser looks gorgeous! All my bedroom furniture is white and I love it!

You’re so right about never regretting working out when you do it, but you do regret it when you don’t!

Wow! Great job! It’s amazing what paint and new hardware can do. We just did the same thing with the vanity in our bathroom.

We are re-decorating our bedroom too! Right now we are searching for new furniture but it’s becoming quite tiresome.

SO great to find someone else who watches Big Love. How good is this season? I love how many layers Niki has, the whole you hate her one minute and feel bad for her the next.

  • katie m March 15, 2009, 7:40 pm

Wow! That is an amazing transformation! How long did the work take?

  • Kimberly March 15, 2009, 7:44 pm

I thought the Kings pilot was very promising (loooove Ian McShane) — it will definitely be a part of my weekly viewing/DVR schedule! Have you caught the United States of Tara? Totally worth On Demanding a few episodes!

  • Run Saraaah March 15, 2009, 7:52 pm

I feel the same about my runs. What an awesome DIY project, it looks professional and I love having multi-drawered dressers…so much more convenient.

  • Amanda March 15, 2009, 7:55 pm

The dresser looks awesome! What a deal!!

Let me know what you thought of Kings — I didn’t see it tonight but I need a new show to start from the beginning!!!

  • Erin March 15, 2009, 8:16 pm

  • HangryPants March 15, 2009, 8:45 pm

I love Big Love and am so sad that I don’t have cable right now.

    Excellent job on the dresser.

I have a question about your HRM strap. Where do you wear it on your body? I think my strap is too big because I have to hike it up really high.

  • aron March 15, 2009, 10:12 pm

sounds like a great weekend!! 🙂 love the dresser! you guys did a great job!!

sometimes getting out for a shorter run is just so much easier!! i feel the same way… i never regret going for a run!

  • therunningaddict March 15, 2009, 10:58 pm

  • Sarah (lovINmytummy) March 15, 2009, 11:02 pm

Did you see the SNL skit with Tracy Morgan re: Big Love? BAHAHAH!

We did the same thing with the dressers in Livy room. Okay, Chris did it. I watched.

tales of expansion – lol trust me you wouldnt have liked the dresser in real life. maybe back in the 1970s when all the blue paint was new… but it was in a sorry state.

Deirdre – this season is INSANE! like, amazing. i scream at the tv every sunday!

katie m – hmmm i’d say it took us 3 hours from start to finish. i paint fast. 🙂

kimberly – never heard of United States of Tara! i’ll watch it if i ever see it on!

heather – both meghann and i had to jimmy-rig the heart rate monitor straps to make it tighter. i just pulled the strap past the smallest point through the clip (this took work b/c of the seam). i think meghann used a safety pin to make hers shorter. i wear it like one inch below my sports bra line. hope that helps!!

What a great turnaround! I think I would have been so turned off by the blue, I wouldn’t have seen its potential! You must have a designer’s eye! 🙂
