Shortie Week

in All Posts

For accountability’s sake, last night I snacked on a slice of WW toast with pumpkin butter.  In bed.  Crumbs everywhere! 🙂

GOOD MORNING.  It’s Monday, but I have a short work week and am therefore very happy.  We are driving to Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday night and spending the weekend there.  It’s technically a "business trip" because my family is considering moving the holistic clinic, but I hope we have some time for R&R, too!

I did Level 2 of the 30 Day Shred this AM and it was SO HARD.  Level 2 is much more advanced than Level 1…. sweat was dripping off me by the end of the first circuit.  It’s endlessly ironic to me that I can run a half marathon, but a workout video knocks me down! 🙂

Breakfast included coffee + banana oatmeal.

My oatmeal contained:

  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 sliced banana
  • Toppings: 1 teaspoon brown sugar, granola, and chopped pecans

I used to put a whole tablespoon of brown sugar on my oatmeal every morning, but I slowly phased it out.  Now I remember how GOOD the extra sugar tastes…. I might have to bring back a teaspoon or so every now and then! 🙂

Have a great week!!

Level 2 seriously isn’t even on the same wavelength as level 1!! I am dreading level 3!!!

The dresser looks great! Enjoy your short work-week.

  • kilax March 16, 2009, 4:39 am

Oh no! And I thought Level 1 was hard! Of course, I’ve only been doing it the past two days, but dang, this sure is a reminder to get my strength training in! It makes me feel better that other runners are struggling as well 😉

Hooray for a short week!! Enjoy the fun ahead 🙂

  • livelovelaugheatlearn March 16, 2009, 5:13 am

Yay for a short week! Hope you still get lots of fun in with the business part!

I had bread last night with apple butter before bed!

WOOHOO for a short week!! Crumbs are so worth the snack 🙂

    Have a fabulous day!

Mmmm the oats look delicious – brown sugar sounds wonderful! I can’t imagine level 2, I won’t be ready for that for a little bit. Right now I am trying to master level 1 with 3 lb weights throughout. Once I am comfortable with that I will move on.

My mom was inspired by my blog and did the Shred herself on Saturday! She called me and said, “That was so hard. It was the longest 20 minutes of my life.” I thought that was funny since for me it is the shortest 20 minutes! She woke up the next day SO sore all over. I don’t think she will be doing it very often 🙂

And, my boyfriend is inspired by how I wake up every day to do this, and he wants to start doing it with me too! You really started something amazing here…

I seriously need to invest in the 30 day shred workout video if it’s that good! 🙂 My husband has a job interview in Charlotte on Tuesday, I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed for a move there soon!

  • RhodeyGirl/Sabrina March 16, 2009, 6:22 am

does that mean you might potentially move?!?!

    LOVE the dresser!!!

  • Brandi March 16, 2009, 6:37 am

I love the new dresser! we’re working on painting ours soon, too.

Isn’t it funny how one workout can totally kill you but something else is nothing?

  • Marlow March 16, 2009, 6:39 am

Charlotte! My sister lives in Charlotte, and I’m on the coast of NC. I hope you guys have a fun trip!

  • Kelly March 16, 2009, 6:40 am

And I am struggling with Level 1! Jillian is a machine! How does she do it? I hang out with Anita and do as many modified versions as I can. 🙂

Have fun on your trip to North Carolina!

    Your dresser looks great!
I did level 1 of the shred for the first time on Friday, it sucked, but I guess I gotta keep it up.

  • talesofexpansion March 16, 2009, 6:56 am

haha, yes a tsp of brown sugar here and there can’t hurt 😉

lucky you with your shortie week!

Hi Caitlin, I have been reading for a month or so and I love your blog. I am just starting out with running and find you very inspiring.
Have you ever tried maple syrup on your oats? I used to love brown sugar too but now I just drizzle a 1/2 tbsp of pure maple syrup over my oats instead – so yummy!

  • Beth March 16, 2009, 7:19 am

I know, isn’t level 2 the worst!!! Honestly, it’s worse than level 3. Level 3 is hard cardio wise but strength wise, level 2 is worse. Don’t you hate the exercise at the end with the squats and front shoulder raises? EW!

  • HangryPants March 16, 2009, 7:20 am

Thank you for the HRM strap advice. I am probably going to have to get some sort of pin action if I can’t get a smaller one.

Yay for a short work week – always fun to look forward to vacation.

  • Run Saraaah March 16, 2009, 7:42 am

Have fun on your business trip! Agreed about Level 2…I am stuck on it, afraid to try Level 3.

  • Elina March 16, 2009, 7:43 am

I’m scared of Level 2!!! Today was supposed to be my last day on Level 1, but since my husband has joined me with these workouts and he’s not ready to move on yet, we’re extending level 1 for a few extra days. I hope he’s ready then (although now I don’t know if I am) 😉

  • tfh March 16, 2009, 7:46 am

Brown sugar does make a big difference in oatmeal. The only way I can keep it off mine is by keeping it out of the house!

  • Jen March 16, 2009, 7:51 am

    Your dresser looks gorgeous!

  • RunToFinish March 16, 2009, 8:00 am

wohooo for short work weeks and way to go on the dresser, i never think about doing that kind of stuff!

  • Heather McD (Heather Eats Almond Butter) March 16, 2009, 8:01 am

    Caitlin,
I’ve backed off from sweetening my oats as well, and now I like them completely plain. So crazy because I used to all kinds of stuff – pumpkin, banana, cottage cheese, etc. Now I just want the oats with nut butter.

Shred – Glad you’ve made it to Level 2. At least it’s only 20 minutes long. I can’t wait to hear about the changes you’ve notice after 30 days.

Wishing you safe travels to N.C. – one of my favorite states. Would you and your husband move there as well?

  • eatingRD March 16, 2009, 8:03 am

Hey! My mom and grandparents live in Mooresville, NC which is about 30 miles north or Charlotte. It’s a really great place! and you would have to check out the white water rafting park. Have a good short week!

Oh enjoy Charlotte! You have to go to Dolce Gelato and get Nutella gelato…or any flavor…oh my goodness!

  • kara March 16, 2009, 10:20 am

I really can’t wait until you finish the Shred so I can get the whole picture 🙂
