Hey, hey!  How’s it shakin’?  Monday is halfway through!

Mid-morning snack… cereal!

CIMG2940

And lunch…. WW sammie with cheese and turkey.

CIMG2941

Cut into small pieces to maximum consumption time. πŸ™‚

Plus, a cup of raw veggies.

Maggie stared me down hardcore until I gave her a piece of carrot:

(That’s her window ledge.  Maggie and James sits on it all day long).

Charlotte Update

Since so many of you asked, yes…. the Husband and I are considering a move to Charlotte.  I am very excited about this possibility because I’d like to own a home, and that’s not really possible for us in Florida right now.  Also, my mother has said she would move to Charlotte if we moved there.  There’s loads of other reasons we are considering moving.

We wouldn’t move until late summer 2010, but we want to go check out the area to see if we like it.  I’ve heard great things about the city!

I have lived in the following cities:

  • Miami, Florida
  • Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  • Orlando, Florida

The Husband has lived in the following cites:

  • Reading, England
  • London, England
  • Perkasie, Pennsylvania
  • Palm Coast, Florida
  • Miami, Florida
  • Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  • Orlando, Florida
  • And a few more I’m sure I’m forgetting….

Where have you lived?  What city was your favorite?

I like to pretend to ignore the fact that you are going to one day leave me and just sweep it under the carpet. ok? πŸ™‚

  • Dori March 16, 2009, 10:09 am

Your sandwich looks great! I’ve lived in Queens NY, Manhattan NY and for college Binghamton NY. Never left NY!

  • Brandi March 16, 2009, 10:15 am

    that’s exciting!

    I’ve only lived 2 places:
    Chesapeake, VA
    Blacksburg, VA (current)

Definitely not big cities – I would love to live CLOSE to a big city, but still out where I know my neighbors.

  • Hallie March 16, 2009, 10:17 am

I’ve lived in San Diego, CA (a rare native!), Ithaca, NY (college)and Seville, Spain (study abroad). Of course Seville was incredible and I have dreams of becoming an ex-pat and moving back to Europe, but San Diego def has my heart and I doubt honestly I’ll ever leave. I’m with ya on the “can’t own a home here” thing, though. I try not to think about it too much.

  • Anonymous March 16, 2009, 10:23 am

Growing up I lived in the same place for 20 years. After graduating from university, I’ve moved a lot. Here’s the rundown:

    Moncton, NB (Canada)
    Halifax, NS (Canada)
    Toronto, Ont (Canada)
    London, England
    Bermuda

  • Red Head, Yellow Dog March 16, 2009, 10:23 am

So awesome! NC is great :)I have another friend who moved here from Miami and also loves NC! There are TONS of floridians up here.

    I’ve lived:

    Miami, FL
    Memphis, TN
    Asheville, NC
    Raleigh, NC

Asheville is the most amazing place. ever. I miss it so much!!!!

  • Runeatrepeat March 16, 2009, 10:24 am

I totally hear you on the owning a house thing. The fiance and I are looking and it’s crazy in CA! His sister and brother in law are in FL and they are buying down there, but I think in the Sarasota area.

  • Jess March 16, 2009, 10:25 am

Wow your husband has lived all over the place! I’ve lived Allentown, PA, College Park, MD, York, PA, and now D.C.

  • Brooke March 16, 2009, 10:25 am

NC is awesome (I’m biased cuz that is my home state!). I’ve lived in Greensboro, NC; Chapel Hill, NC (truly the southern part of heaven); Macon, GA; and Columbia, SC!

Charlotte is awesome! You’ll like it (I hope!). Let us know what you think!

    Take care!

  • Hi! I'm Erin March 16, 2009, 10:27 am

Mmm, your sandwich looks tasty. How do you get the cheese to melt so nicely?

I’ve lived in the following places:

    Morton, IL
    Champaign, IL
    Savoy, IL
    Oxford, OH
    Forest Park, IL

    Yep, I’m a midwest girl.

I loved Champaign because that’s where my friends and family were. I’m enjoying aspects of Forest Park (where I live currently), but I miss my friends and family so much. That’s great that your mom has said she would move, too, if you moved.

  • Tami March 16, 2009, 10:28 am

    Burlington MA
    Moultonboro NH
    Plymouth, NH
    Meredith NH

(and Neulusheim Germany for a month in high school)

I also wanted/thought I would live in a city for a little bit but knew I would return to the country! and that’s where we live now and I couldn’t be happier.

our friends just moved to Asheville but they don’t care for it all that much. They thought they would LOVE it but for lots of reasons they don’t.

  • kara March 16, 2009, 10:28 am

I’ve lived in the same city all my life (Ocean City, MD) except for college (College Park, MD). I might end up moving to Baltimore next year, but we’ll see…

  • FoodsThatFit March 16, 2009, 10:34 am

Salt Lake for sure, I love the mountains!

  • Beth March 16, 2009, 10:35 am

Happy to see so many NCers!! Catilin, I hope you like Charlotte as I am from that area, too. I’ve lived in…

    – Naperville, IL
    – Plainfield, IL
    – Hickory, NC
    – Boone, NC
    – Chapel Hill, NC
    – San Francisco (currently!)

I really love Charlotte and went to UNC Charlotte for grad school, though I lived outside the city. It is really centrally located and has a lot to offer, though I’d have to say Chapel Hill or Asheville are the cities I’d return to if I moved back!

  • jessica.blakewood@gmail.com March 16, 2009, 10:35 am

I was born in Midland, Michigan. Grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. Went to college in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Interned in Panama City, Florida. And I now live in Dayton, Ohio. My hometown, Louisville, is by far the best!!!
I have heard great things about Charlotte as well!
    Good luck!

  • Marlène March 16, 2009, 10:35 am

Wow, big move. What’s the weather like in NC? Can you still run outside year-round?

I have lived in Ottawa, ON; Montreal, QC; and Banff, AB (all are in Canada).

I have dreams of retiring in Santa Fe, New Mexico. And there have been rumblings in our household too about packing up and heading out of town. Who knows what will happen…

  • Erin of Care to Eat March 16, 2009, 10:49 am

I’ve heard that is such an amazing place to live!!! Owning a home is so rewarding…also a lot of work…but in a good way.

Can’t you just see your gorgeous hubcap breakin’ a sweat while mowing the lawn? Yum!

    So far, I’ve lived in:
    Portland, OR (20 years)
    Danville, CA (6 years)
    Lubbock freakin’ TX (2 years)

Your comment made my day cutie pie πŸ™‚

  • Elina March 16, 2009, 10:53 am

  • Mica March 16, 2009, 10:56 am

    Whoa, moving plans!

I’ve lived in Richmond, VA; Charlottesville, VA, and currently, Champaign, IL. (I also “lived” in Korea for awhile, but I don’t remember that business.)

I love that you cut your sandwiches into pieces for maximum consumption time–I totally just did that with my grapes!

  • Haleigh March 16, 2009, 11:00 am

Oh, wow that would be so amazing if you moved to NC because my husband and I will find out this week if we are moving to Charlotte! I have never even been there and it would be nice to have a ‘blog acquaintance’ there too πŸ™‚

  • Andrea March 16, 2009, 11:01 am

North Carolina is a great place to live–but having lived in Florida too I have to say that I miss being able to spend most of the year outside! I have lived in

    West Palm Beach FL
    Columbia, SC
    Greensboro,NC

Charlotte is wonderful but check out Chapel Hill for sure. It’s wonderful there! πŸ™‚

  • Bridget March 16, 2009, 11:09 am

How exciting!! NC is one place where I think I would like to move…but only if ALL my family would go too and I don’t see that happening. I’m just too close to all my family to move away, but man I am getting sick of cold winters!!!!

I’ve only ever lived in New England…so definintely BOSTON is my favorite!!

  • Jen March 16, 2009, 11:14 am

    Great question, Caitlin!

    I’ve lived in

    East Lyme, CT
    Kutztown, PA
    Willington, CT
    Killington, VT
    Kalispell, MT
    Virginia Beach, VA
and Waynesville, NC – half an hour from Asheville, the most awesome little city ever!

I live a couple hours from Charlotte but mostly just go there when I use their airport!

  • Emily March 16, 2009, 11:18 am

    Columbus, Oh
    Los Angeles, CA
    Seattle, Wa
    Hilliard, Oh
    Jacksonville, Fl
    Wichita, Ks
    Lawrence, Ks

and that is all. I love where we are now. Its a great little college town, lots to do. It is very family friendly, and there are many active people who are always out walking/running etc. Its much different from the last, very religious conservative area i lived.

  • Camille who? March 16, 2009, 11:28 am

    I've lived in…
    Anaheim, CA
Orange, CA (Pretty much the same place, but different houses.)
    Winston-Salem, NC
    Blaine, WA
    and currently: Vancouver, BC, Canada

I believe my favorite was Winston-Salem. North Carolina is absolutely gorgeous. If you haven't been, you will LOVE it.

i live in pittsburgh, woo! i really like this city, although i wouldn’t mind living somewhere a bit warmer. i don’t think i could handle Florida heat though!
why did you decide to go to Pitt if you lived in FLA?

  • Haleigh March 16, 2009, 11:32 am

I am from the redneck state of Oklahoma but I have also lived abroad.

    I have lived in:
    1. Tulsa, Ok
    2. Norman, Ok (University of Oklahoma)
    3. BorlÀnge, Sweden
    4. Norrkâping, Sweden

And now, I am back in Tulsa waiting for the end of the week to get here because that is when I will find out if I am moving to Charlotte, NC or moving back to Sweden.

  • Matt March 16, 2009, 11:32 am

    Sounds like an exciting plan!

  • Chelsea March 16, 2009, 11:42 am

I’ve lived in Orlando FL, Gainesville FL, Albquerque NM, and Madison WI (current). If I had to pick on to stay in long term, it would definitely be Albuquerque. Madison is nice, but the winters are way to hard for me. I’d never live in Orlando again. It’s too big and charmless.

  • Kimberly March 16, 2009, 11:42 am

I’ve lived in Brigantine Beach, NJ; Ormond Beach, FL; New York City; Great Neck, Long Island; Brooklyn; Washington DC; San Diego, CA; and now Orlando, FL!

I think you should move there if you feel that’s a good place for you! It’s beautiful!! Moving to a new city is exciting!

  • K March 16, 2009, 11:49 am

I have only lived in my po-dunk town! I would LOVE to live in London or Chicago one day πŸ™‚

  • *One Step at a Time* March 16, 2009, 12:00 pm

  • greendogwine March 16, 2009, 12:02 pm

  • MyRunningJourney March 16, 2009, 12:02 pm

  • Lisa D. March 16, 2009, 12:05 pm

I was inspired by your sandwich cutting trick and last night I cut all my raviolis into 4 pieces and they lasted so much longer and I was sooo satisfied! I’ve lived in suburbs of NYC and Chicago, Burlington, VT and Boston and they are all great places. I think Charlotte sounds like an awesome place to live, hope you enjoy your trip!

  • Lara March 16, 2009, 12:30 pm

    Miami, Florida
    Longwood, Florida
    Dunedin, Florida
    Gainesville, Florida
    Orlando, Florida
    and now… Chicago, Illinois!

    Chicago beats Florida hands down!

  • Run Saraaah March 16, 2009, 12:35 pm

I have only lived in Vancouver, BC and the surrounding suburbs. I love south Florida though as my relatives live there and would love to move there one day…the weather makes me so much happier than constant rain here.

  • Yasmin March 16, 2009, 12:37 pm

my aunt lives in a young cute neighborhood in Charolette and it is amazing! I love visiting! I have lived in Lexington KY (I saw other bloggers from there too!!) my entire life and I just moved to dayton Ohio for law school last August! KY is my absolute favorite but Kettering (Dayton) is fine!

  • Ryane March 16, 2009, 12:38 pm

A move – well, that’s exciting! At least it’s far enough away that you won’t be ditching any of your FL friends too soon ; )

I’ve only lived in New England (CT, NH and MA) but am curious about the NC and Chicago areas…

  • Lindsay March 16, 2009, 12:44 pm

Hey… I am sure that wherever you live you and your husband will have a great life. I am originally from Bracknell, England…. which is very close to Reading where your husband is from. I now live in Illinois and I absolutely hate it because it gets too cold in the winter and too warm in the summer. I wish that I could live on the east coast… like New York or Something Like that… but my parents jobs have kept me stuck in Illinois!! πŸ™

  • Caitlin March 16, 2009, 12:44 pm

I have always been in Pennsylvania. Near Carlisle!

  • runjen March 16, 2009, 12:48 pm

Love Charlotte! I hope it works out for you guys.

    I have lived in:

    Lancaster, Ohio
    Columbus, Ohio
    Cincinnati, Ohio
    Dayton, Ohio
    Las Vegas, Nevada
    and back in Columbus, Ohio

I’m a midwest gal at heart so this is a good fit for us. πŸ™‚

  • RLibby March 16, 2009, 12:48 pm

Aww, I feel bad for Meghann! I follow both of your blogs, so I’ve seen what great friends you’ve become.

    Anyway, I’ve lived in:
    New Berlin, PA
    Carlisle, PA
    Westminster, MD (college)
    Baltimore, MD
    Orlando, FL
… and back in Baltimore now!

I have to say, I HATED Orlando, for a variety of reasons. I’ve heard great things about Charlotte, and would consider it, too, but it’s too far west for me.

  • Andrea of Care to Eat March 16, 2009, 12:50 pm

I loved Charlotte, NC! I even scored free tickets to a Britney Spears concert (in 2002) when I was there! I haven’t spent too much time on the East Coast, but I was there for a week on a business trip and I was pretty impressed with the city – and for me to say that is huge since nothing can compare to my Portland, Oregon love πŸ™‚

  • Alex March 16, 2009, 12:51 pm

    Caitlin,

Although I don’t typically leave comments, I love your blog! I had to pipe in though, because I was born and raised in Charlotte and after completing college and getting married, I am thrilled to be living here again! It is a PERFECT place to buy a first home – there are so many safe, affordable, beautiful neighborhoods, we have hot summers and mild winters, Charlotte is famous for its gorgeous tree-lined streets (which make runs very enjoyable), it’s a few hours to the beach and only about 90 minutes to the mountains, there is a great little art district, several nice dog parks, good shopping and nightlife, it’s extremely clean for a big city, and perhaps most importantly, it is a perfect place to have a childhood. I’m a bit biased, but I will always be Charlotte’s biggest cheerleader! When you and your husband come on Wednesday, you HAVE to eat at Cabo Fish Taco in Noda, which is the arts district. It’s a bit of a hole in the wall, but the food is unbeatable, and you can only get it here and in Blacksburg, VA. And right next door is a wine bar with half price glasses of wine on Wednesday nights, so that’s perfect! I hope you enjoy your visit to my city!

  • Meredith (Pursuing Balance) March 16, 2009, 1:06 pm

    I’ve lived in:
    Miami, FL
    Roanoke, VA
Boston, MA (only until winter though — then it was too cold and I came back to Miami!)

I’m hoping to end up in NC in 2010 as well! Just depends where I get an internship.

  • Anonymous March 16, 2009, 1:09 pm

Come to Charlotte! I have been here for about 2.5 years now and love it. Come on!!!

  • therunningaddict March 16, 2009, 1:25 pm

I’ve only lived in Israel and the Czech Republic…by this point, I consider both places HOME and I doubt I could spend the rest of my life living in just one of them…

  • Megan March 16, 2009, 1:27 pm

    I’ve lived in:

Moved back to IL after college, and I would LOVE to move to Chicago, but the boyfriend is stuck in grad school in New Jersey, so I’ll soon after another city to add to that list, I suppose.

Everyone I know who lives in NC absolutely loves it.

PS The comments were really fun to read because I found people more local to me, as well as some people who went to my alma mater…awesome!

  • loveofoats.com March 16, 2009, 2:38 pm

I was born in Santa ana, ca and live in Oceanside,ca which is like 30 min north of san diego! the weather is fab. I wish I had the chance to live in other states, areas, etc. but my fiancee is a state trooper so thats a little hard lol!

  • thechiclife March 16, 2009, 3:04 pm

I’ve also lived in Orlando, FL.

I have lived in so many places toooooo many actually. Now that I have my own home (we have been here for over 6 years), I feel so comfy and safe here. Good luck this weekend. I hope you guys are able to get a good feel for the area. I would really love to move to North or South Carolina – I hate the winter in MA.

Yeah for Pittsburgh, PA! My hometown and all-time favorite city. I’ve also lived in North Brunswick, NJ (no, I don’t recommend NJ!) and for a month in Hertford, England, but the Burgh is where it’s at! And I even run outside year round!
Caitlin – I went to Pitt as well. Did you meet your husband there? Your blog is such an inspiration! I love reading it everyday – keep it up and good luck in your training for the 15 miler. Trails are so much tougher than the streets, aren’t they? I love running the Schenley Park trails and they kick my butt in the spring after a winter of running the streets.

  • Abby March 16, 2009, 6:11 pm

Wow, sounds like some pretty exciting changes may be afoot!

I’ve spent most of my life in Philadelphia, with a brief stint in Portland, Maine thrown in for good measure. If it weren’t so far away from here, I’d love to live in the Pacific NW.

  • Lauren March 16, 2009, 6:31 pm

Jen…..(Oh NO I can’t remember her maiden name!)

Okay I will ask her and get back to you. What a crazy world if they knew each other. She is 26 and lived there until college, so it’s possible they may have went to the same school. (I think there is only 1 high school!)

  • Rose March 16, 2009, 6:38 pm

    I love NC!

I have lived in Johnstown, Pennsylvania; Indiana, Pennsylvania; Cambridge, England; Alexandria, Virginia; Washington, DC

  • HangryPants March 16, 2009, 7:28 pm

    Awww Meghann.

When I was little I wanted to move to Charlotte because I thought it was the most northern city with palm trees. Is that true?

Anyway, I have lived in many places in the north east.

    Rhode Island
    Philly Area
    Boston Area
    New York City
    New Jersey

I liked each place for different reasons. πŸ˜€

Do you ever watch House Hunters? It really makes me want to move somewhere obscure with cheap houses.

  • ChickPea March 16, 2009, 10:13 pm

Charlotte seems like a great place to live–I’ve only been there a few times, but I think it’s a fun city.

    I have lived in:
    Pittsburgh, PA
    Birmingham, AL
    Durham, NC

‘Bama is my fave all the way!

  • seeleelive (for the love of peanut butter) March 17, 2009, 4:46 am

i have lived in Connecticut my whole life. its a pretty small area!

now, i am in school in Philly, PA & love it! come move here!

  • Meryl March 17, 2009, 6:53 am

so, I am posting my first comment because you just made me excited πŸ™‚

you will love charlotte! the weather here is so mild, it never gets crazy cold or even crazy hot.

and cost of living is definitely a little easier on the wallet- i feel you! that’s one of the reasons we moved here in the first place- you get alot more house for the price you pay.

plus- you will have a foodie friend and running partner in the area πŸ™‚

    good luck this weekend!

  • Oh She Glows March 17, 2009, 8:54 am

I have lived in various cities in Ontario, Florida (St Petersburg area), Georgia (1 hour outside Atlanta), Charlotte (!!!), New Brunswick πŸ™‚

  • Kristin March 17, 2009, 11:13 am

Wow, tons of comments here, and lots of good ones about NC! I was born and raised right outside of Charlotte, went to UNC Chapel Hill for college, and lived in Raleigh for a while as well. I live in Charleston now (which I couldn’t love more) but Charlote is a great place, and one we heavily considered before moving from Raleigh down here to Chas.

There are tons of good neighborhoods, cafes, downtown is growing, a great place! Plus you’re right near the mountains, 3 hours from Charleston, 3 hours from Chapel Hill and the weather is pretty mild.

    I say go for it!

  • bhealthier March 18, 2009, 7:04 am

men eat ridiculous amounts of food ( I know that was the post after this one.. but still)

lets see lived in cities: Pittsburgh PA, Meadville PA, University Park PA, Germantown MD, Wake Forest NC, and Raleigh NC

    * Charlotte is really pretty *

  • Kath March 20, 2009, 11:28 am

Aw mannnnnn! You might not move till 2010!? We might be leaving Charlotte then! I’m at the Nairobi airport catching up on blogs πŸ™‚
