Good evening. Surprised to see me again? Well, Meghann and I had to rush out of Tampa and drive back to Orlando a few hours before the Britney Spears concert began. Meghann’s sister Kelly was hit by a car while she was riding her bicycle, but luckily she was wearing a helmet. The driver ran a red light and clipped her. Thus far, her prognosis looks OK.
Let’s back up a little….
Before all this went down, Meghann and I met Jenna and Derek at Royal Thai… Jenna knows my weakness for Thai food! The decor in this place was pretty bangin’!
What is it with me and murals??? This one was particularly awesome as it had elephants and village scenese.
Jenna swore the portions were normal-sized at this restaurant, so I ordered my favorite indulgent dish — Pad Thai!
It was a VERY good Pad Thai. I enjoy Pad Thai the most when there are loads of little things in every bite — chewy rice noodles, scallions, peanuts, chicken, bean sprouts. This was excellent.
That’s about when Meghann got one of the world’s worse phone calls. We immediately paid our bill and packed up to leave — attending the concert was totally out of the question. Let’s prioritize! A family emergency always trumps a concert.
Before we left, I walked up to two girls in their mid-twenties who were gossiping at a table in the corner. I asked them if they wanted our tickets and explained what happened. The one girl kept repeating, "Are you serious?? This is awesome!" I’m glad our tickets didn’t go to waste… I hope they enjoy the show! š
So, then we rushed home to Orlando, Meghann met up with Kelly’s boyfriend, and together they drove to the hospital.
This is your friendly reminder to ALWAYS wear your helmet, even for short rides. Helmets rock!
Please keep Kelly and Meghann in your thoughts and prayers tonight.
(I may snack on an orange later….)
Goodnight!
Oh no! I hope she is okay. Was she hurt?
