Cutting Loose

in All Posts

Thank you SO much for your sweet and kind comments on my life bonk revelation.  It means a lot to me to have your support… truly!

One way to cut down on my stress is to actually get stuff done… I worked all afternoon and checked many things off my to do list.

I snacked on a 1/4 of a melon (not pictured) and some Easter chocolate (2x).

And Puck’s Chicken Dumpling Soup with broc.

I decided to cut loose a little bit tonight and I had a GREAT TIME.  The Husband and two of our friends (Harry and Michelle) decided to go to Orlando Brewing Company for a free tour and some beer.

 CIMG3338

Orlando Brewing Company is Florida’s only certified organic brewery. The ingredients used in Orlando Brewing Company’s beers are grown without insecticides, bioengineering, or irradiation.  Orlando Brewing brews in accordance with the German Purity Law of 1516. That means they use only natural, organic ingredients!

Before the tour started, we waited in the pub and drank a beer.

CIMG3327

I had a Red Ale.

CIMG3325

It felt great to relax and have a beer!

Me and Michelle…

The tour was really fun and informative.  I asked the brewmaster why he chose to use organic ingredients and he replied, "I use organic ingredients so I feel comfortable looking at myself in the mirror in the morning.  I like knowing I’m treating the environment and other people with respect."  Pretty cool!

The best part of the tour was you could carry your beer around. 🙂

CIMG3335

My shirt says "Diamonds are nice and so are pearls…." And the back says, "But nothing beats University of Pittsburgh girls!"

After the tour, I tried the Miami Weiss beer, which I really enjoyed.

CIMG3336

After the tour, we drove downtown to the Clubhouse to watch the Pitt vs. Villanova game (ughhhhh which was horrible to watch).

CIMG3340

I decided to continue my laid-back attitude and ordered a turkey + provolone+ pickle sammie with a side of onion rings.

CIMG3341

Plus another beer (a Newcastle) that I drank 3/4 of.

Now, I’m buzzed, relaxed, and SLEEPY!  I’m going to crash ASAP and tackle my 10 miler in the morning.  Although I’m struggling to maintain my training schedule, I am excited for the upcoming 15.0 mile trail race and want to do well.  Time to buckle down!

Have a GREAT night!

What an awesome way to end your day. I’ve life bonked before, and I’m about at the point right now. Law school is absolutely killing me and it’s the one thing I can’t just chuck out the window. I’m learning to relish in the small things to help keep the big stressors in perspective. 🙂

I totally missed your earlier post, I am so sorry!! Sometimes that happens and you just have to take a step back and focus on priorities. Not everything can come “first” so you have to kinda shuffle things around from time to time.

    Take care of yourself 🙂

That last beer looks good. I love Hefeweizens. (I probably spelled that very wrong!)

before you even clarified your t-shirt, i knew it was a Pitt tee. My best friend from home goes there, and you all LOVE that slogan! I visited her 2 years ago, and it was very fun. Go Pitt 😀

I didnt have a chance to comment on your last post, but I really admire your decision! I ran a half-marathon in November up here in Philly and once it was over, I had NO desire to run outside in the winter. I felt guilty for a little, but just went with it and listened to my emotions. Now that the weather has turned nicer and I have had some time off, my legs are itching to run again. I think it is really important to take that time off and only really do it when you want to!

Tonight looked like the perfect no stress night! I love to eat healthy 85% of the time, but often nothing beats a bunch of beers (or wine) and a little fried food or pizza – such a yummy treat 🙂 Have fun with your 10 miles tomorrow!!

  • Mica March 28, 2009, 9:40 pm

Organic beer sounds like the perfect way to carbo load before your run tomorrow!

  • Janet March 28, 2009, 9:46 pm

Three cheers for organic beer! Yay! 🙂

Your hair looks so shiny and pretty by the way. 🙂 Ha, I just saw I’m not the only one who noticed!

I can completely 100% relate to your last post on life balance. I have felt the same way as you and will have to talk about it in my next post. I bet it helped just typing all of it out! Thanks Caitlin for being so honest with your readers and showing us that even though we may want to do it all, sometimes it’s just not possible – nor fun!!

  • Balance, Joy and Delicias! March 29, 2009, 4:16 am

Fun tour! and I just read about your life bonk…and i think it’s great that you realized that you need a break for long distance running and remind yourself that you run because you enjoy it and not because you have to! 🙂
