Getting My Hair Did!

in All Posts

Yayyyy today was SO MUCH FUN with my mom!  It’s just nice to have her do wedding stuff with me.  We headed to downtown Orlando for my trial hair appointment, but first we grabbed a quick bite to eat to eat at Tijuana Flats.

I had two soft whole-wheat chicken tacos (only ate 1 and 1/2).  Oooo, they were delicious! I forgot to ask for no cheese…. oops!

And a perfectly portioned side of rice and black beans.

Then we meandered over to the hair salon.  I’ve never been there before and I completely lucked out by randomly choosing a GREAT hairdresser!

I ended up with a romantic half-up do with tiny braids and lots of loose curls.  I also got talked into the hair extensions, which I’m getting on Thursday (woot woot!).

Then…. we went to my first dress fitting.  Let’s just say…. I was 4 pounds lighter when I bought my dress (I was NOT at my maintainable/current weight of 119… I was at my incredibly hard to maintain weight of 115), and my dress is a WEE bit too tight in the hips.

The dressmaker gave me two options: lose the weight or let my dress out.  I’m opting to lose the weight, mostly because I’ll save $100 in alterations fees!  So you may see less snacking in my future.  That’s probably the only thing I’m going to change about my eating habits, but I need to think about it a little more.

We came home and I snacked on a plum:

See you for dinner! πŸ™‚

  • ms November 7, 2008, 4:09 pm

beautiful tacos (i love flats) and even more beautiful hair! i can’t wait to see the extensions…

you’ll probably lose the 4 pounds without trying in the few weeks leading up to your wedding ~ with all the running around and general anxiety about wanting everything to be just. so.

i’m emailing you about the race on sunday, maybe we can meet up.

the hair is gorgeous!!! can’t wait to see extensions, they’ve always fascinated me, i have no idea how they work really. i’m sure 4 pounds is not too hard, and since your current weight is your happy weight, you can always just go back up after the wedding πŸ˜€

glad to hear that you won't be doing anything drastic like some brides do before their wedding. its great that you are already a healthy person who maintains their weight. bravo!
glad you had fun with your mom & the lunch looks great too πŸ˜€

  • Lindsay November 7, 2008, 4:49 pm

    Hey!
I love your hair in that picture! Just let me say…i had extensions and i HATED them!!! They itched sooo bad! I was miserable. Just so you know, i don’t know if they will effect you like that, but just a warning.

    GORGEOUS hair!!! How exciting πŸ™‚

That sucks about your dress, but yeah, I would do the same thing – alteration prices are OUTGRAGEOUS!

  • Caitlin (see bride run) November 7, 2008, 4:57 pm

lindsay – oh i know the sew-in ones are terrible, i’m going to get human hair clip ins πŸ™‚

I LOVE your hair!!! Gorgeous bride, here you come!!

Tijuana Flats is so yummy, and fortunately that’s something we have in my small town!!! Yay!

And I’m just curious, but why are you getting the hair extensions? How long will they be? Just wondering!

  • sharon November 7, 2008, 5:31 pm

Your hair turned out beautiful. I wouldn’t change a thing.

  • D10 November 7, 2008, 5:42 pm

I love the hair. Don’t worry about the weight too much. I lost a few pounds the weeks leading up to the wedding. I wasn’t trying, but there was just so much going on.

  • Justine November 7, 2008, 5:42 pm

Love the hair! I still have no idea how I’ll do mine when my time comes, but I’ve always thought the half up/half down might work well…it definitely does on you!
I’m sure with just a little tweaking you can lose a couple pounds/inches. However, it’s those last couple that are always hard. Good luck!

  • Girl on Top November 7, 2008, 5:45 pm

    that plum looks yummy!

  • Laura November 7, 2008, 6:00 pm

I just found your blog while on Food Buzz…I’m in the Orlando area too! (Sanford)

Anyway…just wanted to say how much I’m loving your blog right now, I’m getting back into running and share the same food philosophy as you.

    Your hair turned out beautiful!

  • Erin of Care to Eat November 7, 2008, 6:58 pm

    THAT’S A BEAUTIFUL ‘DO!
I’m with ms. I lost 7 pounds in the month before my wedding just from being anxious and running around all the time.

  • emily November 7, 2008, 6:58 pm

your hair is gorgeous! good luck losing the wedding weight – I got married half way through my first year as a teacher – I was more out of shape, less tan, and more broken out then I’ve ever been before or since!

  • Caitlin (see bride run) November 7, 2008, 7:03 pm

mrs lc…. i just want my hair to be fuller (and longer) for the wedding. i recently had an overeager hair dresser chop off about 3 inches and i’m still tramautized. plus, when you curl it, it appears shorter…. we’ll see!

i’m glad to know everyone liked my hair. it isn’t typical ‘bridal’ but i like it πŸ™‚

  • Aggie November 7, 2008, 7:04 pm

    anon – thank you!!

  • Sharney November 7, 2008, 7:51 pm

Absolutely gorgeous hair! It looks so natural, not all sprayed and stiff like some bride’s hairdos! I always think it looks so pretty when brides wear their hair down and yours is no exception-Love it!!

  • Erica November 7, 2008, 7:55 pm

    LOVE IT!

  • (Angela) Oh She Glows November 7, 2008, 7:56 pm

Oh I LOVE your hair!!!! It is perfect. I don’t even think you need extensions at all. You seem to have naturally full hair. You are going to look so pretty.

I also don’t think you need to lose the weight, but I can see why you wouldn’t want to spend $100 on alterations!

  • Caitlin (see bride run) November 7, 2008, 8:03 pm

sharon, erica, and angela – thank you ladies!!!

  • Claire November 7, 2008, 8:12 pm

Cute hair! It looks redder than in your profile pic…mine is like that, too. Sometimes, it actually looks like I have a streak of BRIGHT red hair running down the back…just highlights. So fun!

  • Rose November 7, 2008, 8:44 pm

Love love love the hair do! Your hair is such a pretty shade of red!

  • Jordan November 7, 2008, 8:45 pm

I loveeeee the hair, girlie! =]

  • Caitlin (see bride run) November 7, 2008, 8:47 pm

its kind of funny you guys mention my hair looks red, because i didn’t think it was red at all! LOL

  • Marissa November 7, 2008, 10:22 pm

I love your hair! For my wedding I did a similar style and it worked out really well!

  • Elina November 8, 2008, 8:34 am

I really love the hair! So romantic!!

Too bad about the dress. That’s a tough decision to make, but I think since the wedding is not that far away, you can just be a little more restrictive and it will be worth it. My dress was teany bit tight on my wedding day because I let go the last week or so. I think I’m the only one that noticed, but still…
