Amazing Vacay

in All Posts

Sometimes, all you need is a break!!  We both feel so refreshed and rejuvenated after our vacation (and we still have 1 night and 1/2 a day to go!).  It’s nice to just wander around without time limits on anything and no pressure to get things done.

Regarding vacation eating, obviously I haven’t been eating as “cleanly” as I normally do – wine, chocolate, meals out, etc.  Since that always tends to happen on vacations, no matter how good my intentions are, I try to make up for it by staying active and doing lots of sightseeing on foot.  That’s why I’m so glad I was able to get that run in this AM – it’s all about the balance!

St. Augustine was a blast.  The “ancient city” holds so many memories for us.  It’s such a fun and walkable town, too.

We randomly stopped at a “dive bar” for lunch because they had an awesome roof-top patio.  We could even see the ocean! 🙂

Whenever we eat out, we tend to order two things we both like and then we split.  We got the pork tenderloin sub and a beer-battered fish wrap.

They were both VERY small (the sub was many three inches and the wrap was teeny tiny), but each sammie was SO good that it was a perfect meal.    Future Husband was disappointed that the subs didn’t come with fries, but I was secretly elated because that meant there was room for….. FUDGE!

I got a small slice of cookies and cream.

Then, we walked to San Sebastian’s Winery to do a free tour and tasting.

Not going to lie or sugarcoat this…. every single wine we tried (about 1 oz. of seven types) was SO DISGUSTING.  And, it was NOT just a personal preference kind of thing.   This one woman came up behind me and said, “This is bad wine, isn’t it?” and I laughed and said, “They would probably sell more bottles if they didn’t give out free tastes!”

After we got home, I made an early “dinner” appetizer spinach pastries (found them frozen in the freezer) and an iceberg wedge with balsamic vinegarette and Romano cheese.

I hope you all understand, but I’m going to unplug the computer for the night and just spend time with Future Hubby.  I’ll probably eat another small snack, sip some champagne, and sit in the hot tub all night long. 🙂

Enjoy your Saturday! See you for breakfast!

Totally understand about turning off the computer, Caitlin! You deserve a break from the blogging and some “alone” time with FH. It looks like you had a marvelous day minus the “wine” tasting 😛 St. Augustine looks beautiful and your lunch looked delish! I just love fudge! I love going to quaint little towns and seeing all the fudge shops. Of course I always have to try some!

Enjoy the rest of your vacay and see ya for breakfast!

    Hi Caitlin,
I know what you mean about your dog sometimes dictating when you can run. I have the same problem:-(
My dog is good and won’t bark if I go to crate him-the problem is me! If my husband isn’t home and I have to crate my dog and leave him alone I feel soooooo guilty. Therefore, I prefer to run when my husband is home and he can be with the dog. It gets to be a problem though because lots of times my husband isn’t home and I have a perfect golden opportunity to run and wind up waiting for him to get back or forgoing my run altogether:-(. Pretty lame I know, but I love my dog SO much!

Your two days of oatmeal looked so delicious- a perfect wake-me-up! I am so glad to hear you had such a fun and perfect mini-vacation. Thanks so much for sharing all the pictures and good times!

P.S. I hope you got to run 🙂

P.P.S. I am still waiting for my run. The hubby is watching football over at his friend’s house. It will be a late afternoon run for me- I know I’m pathetic!
