dinner’s gone to the dogs!

Today’s run made me really snackey all day long! Since we’re having a late (9 PM) dinner, I knew I’d need something to hold me over.

Sorry– I’m boring. First, I had my usual blueberry, Kashi Go Lean Crunch!, and yogurt mid-afternoon snack.

Around 4 PM I really needed a coffee. Waking up at 5:30 is rough!

When I got out of work, I had a handful of raisins, half a banana, and a glob of PB.

Happy Birthday, Maggie!

It’s Maggie’s 4th birthday. We got her two years ago from a rescue organization. She is Future Husband’s and my first dog, and we love her A LOT! She’s a really silly, funny dog. Plus, Maggie is a great pup for a food blogger because she lo-ves food!

I made this same cake for her last year. It’s a modification of this recipe. I make a double portion, add water, and reduce the about of veggie oil as much as possible. Dog birthday cake isn’t really a science — they will still eat it if it tastes funny!

I used a giant cupcake mold (it’s awesome) to create her a BIG cupcake. The icing is soft cream cheese, 1/4 cut honey, and cinnamon. Those are carrots and PB decorations. 🙂

Don’t worry, I let James Bond dig in, too! I needed some cute birthday pictures of the girl first! 🙂

Off to dinner downtown. See you in the AM for a run. 🙂

I love the idea of a puppy cupcake! We’re getting a puppy in four weeks, and I wish I could make this for her when she comes home (she’d be deathly ill, of course, as she’ll just be eight weeks, but it’s such a fun idea.)
