Body Weight Workout

in All Posts

We aren’t snowed in like many people in the Northeast; however, the weather in Charlotte is pretty rotten.  Cold, dreary, foggy. I must admit that I’m not very motivated to put on real people clothes, let alone go for my long run. And I *know* that Henry does not want to sit in the jogging stroller, no matter how many layers I put on him!

So – here is today’s Body Weight Workout. Done in the comfort of my living room while dodging dogs, toys, and a toddler.

I hate burpees!  I have a feeling a lot of people do.  They are so hard.

Henry thought the entire workout was one big game. Which I guess it kind of is…

Haha, cold is relative. I’d happily take your weather right now. We currently have a wind chill of -19F after a high of 5F and are looking at a high of -13F tomorrow, low of -25F (I wish those were the windchills…windchills are supposed to hit -60-70F!). I have to make it to work somehow tomorrow but I sure as heck am not going to be working out outside tomorrow! Time to move south.

I love a good body weight workout at home! Sometimes it’s just necessary to stay in 🙂

I just did this workout! I was planning on doing some strength today since it’s too cold and snowy for a run here and I can’t get to a treadmill. I NEVER do strength (I’m just bad about it) so this was hard for me. My arms feel like jello!

      ME TOO! jelly arms.

I think if we all looked at our workouts as a game, we’d probably look forward to them so much more! Tomorrow’s workout definitely IS a game!

Wow, this is intense!! Will definitely warm you up in this cold spell!! I always view my workouts as “play”…but now that I have to workout inside it doesn’t feel so much like play, but torture!

cute pictures! entertaining a toddler must add a whole new element of effort to a home workout 🙂

Great minds think alike. I have a post like this coming up this week 🙂 I love burpees — they are so hard but so rewarding! We’re not really snowed in anymore, but the sidewalks are super icy because it melts during the day and freezes over again at night. When I run. In the dark. I just ran outside and my pace really suffered so I wouldn’t fall. But, at least it was above 30 degrees! That was nice.

Now, this negative 30 degree wind chill stuff, I’m not so sure about that. Hahahaha

I have to agree with you, NC is cold right now! I’d like to try the workout you posted, but I’m new at some of these exercises. Is there a website that has pictures of what they’re supposed to look like (mountain climber? Side planks?) Many thanks!

Indoor workouts are so much more preferable to being cold and wet…like I was on my “walk” (skate) to Starbucks this morning during somewhat of a Connecticut ice storm. Bad choice. This looks like a vigourous one! I also LOVE the Nike Training Club app. Never ending supply of light weight or body weight exercises for different goals and levels that usually leave me thoroughly exhausted. I don’t have a dog or toddler to navigate, but it looks entertaining!

I was doing side planks in my living room today too! We are snowed in nad I needed a workout : ) This one would have been great!

That looks like such a killer workout. I actually love burpees. I know that sounds insane, but they are really difficult so I like seeing how many more I can do than before. It pushes me.

So cute! I am all about at home workouts in nasty weather. It is supposed to be in the 30s tomorrow in Tallahassee, FL…30s!!! I will be on the treadmill for sure.

When I do at home work outs I have to do them in the spare bedroom and shut the door or my dog goes bananas! she think’s i’m playing some weird game where she needs to jump all over me.

  • Lauri January 6, 2014, 9:03 am

5 straight minutes of jumping jacks? Yikes! I think I woudl get bored!

Looks like a simple, yet effective workout! Whenever I do a workout at home, Hunter thinks it’s HILARIOUS! It makes it way more fun for me to see his big smiles and hear his giggles too. 🙂

This looks great! One question: Where is says “x3” do we do three sets back to back or with rest in between or like in a circuit?

  • Leah January 6, 2014, 8:41 pm

Love workouts like this! This is pretty much how I lost 20 pounds in 2012, doing home workout DVDs with mostly my body weight and tracking food. And I managed to keep it off.
I agree burpees are hard but they really make me feel like I’m doing something!
Can’t wait to work out like this again after I have my baby in 12 or so weeks 🙂
