Almost done!

ironman march

pinterest-button3

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again…  I am continuously amazed that some people do in a day what I’m attempting to complete in a month. I always knew the Ironman distance was intense – I’ve done a marathon, I’ve done a century bike ride – but now that I’m working towards that overall goal…. I just can’t BELIEVE that Ironmans do this all at ONCE.  I bow down to you!  Seriously, where do you find the energy?!

Time to check in…

My goal for this week was:

872 meter swim

25.3 mile bike ride

6 mile run

I did five workouts, including a 1000 yard swim + a 2.5 mile run, two 45 minute rides inside, a 2.5 mile run, and a 1 mile walk/run.  I’m really loving this challenge because I feel like I’m getting such a total body workout.

This week’s workouts were awesome.  It’s hard to juggle exercise with all that’s been going on – lots of houseguests, a little traveling.  Oh, and our backyard was being transformed from a dirt pit to something MUCH cooler.  I rode my bike in front of the back windows so I could watch the landscapers do their thing.  It was pretty impressive!

Sneak peek…

I’ll do a full reveal in a few days!

How was your workout week?

I had 3 goals this week. 1. Run 6 days 2. Run at least 50 miles. 3. Do my 4 P90X workouts. I am on target to complete all 3 goals. Tonight is going to be the hardest. I have the toughest P90X workout after a very full day. Hopefully I’m not lazy and actually do it!

crossfit 3 days so far, one-4 mile run, a 2 mile stairmill to nowhere and a couple 1 mile walk and or runs (with the son&stroller) for this week. tomorrow will be crossfit and maybe a 1-miler (working on getting to my fastest) saturday will probably be a 6-8 mile run. i’ve been doing a plank challenge this month, adding 10 seconds to each day in march. that is supah hard, so i’ll count that, too! lol
triathletes are amazing! i can’t imagine doing all of that in.one.day. i mean, each one of those is such an amazing accomplishment on it’s own- but together?! no words.

great job on your workout week! 😀 can’t wait for the reveal!

I wanted to do some long runs this week after drowning in snot all of last week. I got them all done with the help of my dog carrying my inhaler and some tissues for me. I have The Color Run on Saturday to top off at 20 miles!

  • Emily @ Tips on Healthy Living March 28, 2013, 5:18 pm

I’m not training for anything right now–though I am extremely impressed with your Ironman training! I’m working out vicariously through you.

My modest goals are to do two SoulCycle classes and two weight training classes at my gym. I am on track! I love check-ins 🙂

  • Chantal March 28, 2013, 5:45 pm

    The yard looks great!

I feel like I’m finally back on track this week – done with the swimming, almost there on running, and even with a 21-mile (hilly) bike ride (to a winery!), I’m still behind on cycling miles! Trying to do as much as I can in the next few days to complete it!

  • Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat March 28, 2013, 6:25 pm

OMG your last photo is gorgeous!! Can’t wait to hear more about it. I think your workout goal for this month was fantastic – a perfect example of being active while still balancing the other important things in your life. I’m currently training for a half marathon that I am really hoping I can finish in less than 1:30, (I just have to take about 1.5 mins off my PR!) but I know it’ll be a challenge. I’m wrapping up week 3 of 8 of my program which is going well so far, but this time around I’m being extra careful about not getting injured. (I don’t ‘do’ injury very well!) If the weather is as nice as it’s supposed to be this weekend, I’ll be heading out for my first ‘real’ outdoor run of the year!

Ooooh, I can’t wait to see the full reveal — looking good so far!

  • Sana March 28, 2013, 7:57 pm

I have been running 2-3 times a week (2-3 miles) and spinning twice a week. Lots of fun!

  • Logan @ Mountains and Miles March 28, 2013, 8:06 pm

Can’t wait to see the full reveal!!!

I ran 10 miles on Tuesday with a coworker who is training for her first half marathon and this was the first time she had ever run 10 miles!!! On Wednesday I biked to work and back (10 miles each way) and ran 5 during lunch. Today I ran 6 miles home from work. Tomorrow is a rest day and then Saturday is my long run!

  • Miranda @ Miranda Runs March 28, 2013, 8:39 pm

My workout week has been pretty good! Took a rest day on Monday and yesterday, but I ran 7.5 miles on Tuesday and worked my butt off in the gym today!

  • mindy @ just a one girl revolution. March 28, 2013, 10:16 pm

This week was a bit rough for me – my shoulder and neck have been really sore since Saturday’s long run. I had 25 miles and a yoga class planned. So far, I’ve got 10 miles in. Considering the circumstances, I’ll take it! Gotta keep myself healthy and injury free – first half mary of the year in about three weeks!!

  • Molly @ JoggingWithJack.com March 28, 2013, 10:22 pm

I love that both you and Henry enjoyed looking at the landscaping while doing your thing! I’ve had a good workout week so far with two crossfit inspired strength workouts and one spin class. I’m already looking forward to a TRX class tomorrow morning.

  • Angela March 28, 2013, 10:27 pm

Can’t wait to see the finished backyard!

  • Reenielou March 28, 2013, 10:35 pm

Looks good…..can’t wait to see it all.

  • Mia March 28, 2013, 11:05 pm

Congratulations on all your miles this week! Especially in finding a way to make it work into your schedule when your schedule doesn’t seem like it’ll work. This is often a challenge and an easy time to give up. My workouts this week have been going really well, and I’ve hit all my targets so far. Most excitingly though was that i did my first day of swimming for sport this week. Holy cow is it hard! My swimming endurance is so different from my running endurance. I had total respect for the times you’ve posted about banging pout some speedy miles, and all that you’ve been doing during this months challenge. Anyway, i wanted to say thank you, because I’ve felt totally encouraged/inspired to take up swimming from you, and had bookmarked your post of swimming videos not to long ago for when i had pool access, and had been trying to make swimming a reality since then. Now to just work on that technique…

  • Ashley March 29, 2013, 12:55 am

Wow! That deck looks amazing, can’t wait to see the full reveal!!!

  • Laila March 29, 2013, 8:35 am

Wow your back porch is looking fantastic… me and my husband are looking to get something similar done. We’re unsure because of finances though. Do you think it was costly or was it something do-able? With summer coming, we’d really like the outdoor porch to be bigger for our guests during BBQ’S & etc. Thanks for any input!

    • Caitlin March 29, 2013, 9:52 am

I thought it was doable. We had some ridiculous quotes though.

  • Julie March 29, 2013, 11:40 am

OMG your backyard looks AMAZING!! You must be so pleased! Can’t wait to see the full reveal. 🙂
