Giant Goals

in All Posts

I bet that many of you are playing a similar game this Monday… So much to do, not enough time (but always time for a blog-reading break, right?!).  I’ve got two hours to complete about four hours’ worth of work before I have to leave the house for a meeting.  But I really need to get back on track with my training plan.  The Husband is home today, so I’m trying to decide whether completing a few (non-deadline) projects is more important than exercising.  Honestly, I’m leaning towards a workout.  Good for the body and the soul – and far too hard to find time for these days!

IMG_8917

I am really looking forward to my meeting, though.  It’s for Girls on the Run; I’m meeting with several employees and other coaches to brainstorm ways to make GOTR Charlotte even better.  I miss coaching a lot and desperately want to stay involved in the organization in any way that I can!

IMG_8754

Good times.

Let’s see… While I was burning the daytime oil, the Husband took Henry to his four-month check-up.  Henry is officially ginormous – now in the 85% for height and 49% for weight.  At birth, he was in the 43% for height and 19% for weight!  My skinny and small baby is now a giant.  All I can say is that I am extremely glad that he decided to become a giant once he was out in the world and not while in the womb…

Kristien was also responsible for this delicious lunch!

  IMG_2098

He made sandwiches with Trader Joe’s Soy Chorizo – a very spicy faux meat.

With a wee bit of chocolate.

Let’s play a fun game… Based on your parents’ heights, how tall SHOULD you be and how tall ARE you?  DadHTP is 6 foot, 4 inches, but MomHTP is 5 foot, 3 inches.  I am 5 foot, 3.5 inches.  Blast!

Kristien is a fabulous cook! I’m beyond impressed. 😉 Hope you are able to power through a busy Monday. I’m catching up from vacation so I know the feeling.

  • Sri October 15, 2012, 1:43 pm

I dont know if its just me, but when I tried the TJ’s soy chorizo it had a very metallic aftertaste, and I didnt ever buy it again. How did you like it?

    • Caitlin October 15, 2012, 1:45 pm

I did like it, but I am not super sensitive to stuff like that so I may not be the best judge.

  • Anna October 15, 2012, 1:51 pm

My mom is 5’2” and my dad is 6′. I ended up as 5’10”!

  • MS October 15, 2012, 1:53 pm

    Mom is 5’8
    Dad is 5’9

    I’m 5’3 1/2 (maybe 5’3 and 3/4th ) 😉

    How tall is your husband?

    • Caitlin October 15, 2012, 1:54 pm

      He is 5 foot 8!

      • Lesley T. October 15, 2012, 6:59 pm

It will be interesting to see if Henry somehow takes after your dad and ends up towering over your husband and you!

  • Maggie October 15, 2012, 1:54 pm

My mom is 5’8 and my dad is 5’7, I’m 5’4, but my brother is 6’3…I don’t know how that happened!

  • Morgan @ Life After Bagels October 15, 2012, 1:54 pm

your opening paragraph describes my month to a T (obviously time for blog reading, but rarely time for blog writing anymore)

both my parents are short, I think my dad is like 5.5, I’m 5.2 … my bf is 6.1 so now I’m thinking about how tall our future kiddies will be

  • ashley October 15, 2012, 1:54 pm

My dad is 5’10” and my mom is 5’4″ and I turned out to be 5’7″. Pretty much smack dab in the middle!

  • natalie @ will jog for food October 15, 2012, 1:55 pm

My Dad is 6’1″ and my mom is 5’3″.

    I’m 5’5″
    My little sis is 5’9″.

I feel like the younger ones are always taller! That’s the case in many siblings that I know.

    • Caitlin @ This Bride's Joyride October 15, 2012, 2:00 pm

Too funny, I just wrote the same thing about siblings!

    • Alicia October 15, 2012, 3:44 pm

My family is opposite! My Dad is 6’6″ and my Mom is 5’2″. I am 5’10” and my younger sister is 5’4″!

      • Kara October 16, 2012, 6:39 am

My Dad is 5′ 7″, my Mum 5′ 8″ and I’m 5′ 6.5″ (my younger sister is 5′ 4″)! My husband is 6′ 4″ and our son is in the 99th centile for height and 95th for weight! I think I definitely have a giant baby on my hands!

      • Jessi @ doctorate housewife October 18, 2012, 4:55 pm

me too, or practically – my dad is 6’6″, my mom 5’3″ and I’m 5’10”, my younger sister 5’6″ish. When I was younger I was really annoyed because the doctor assured me that I would at least reach 6′ and I didn’t (though I did once grow 6in in 3 months). Now I know that if I did I would NEVER find clothes. I’m all limbs, so it’s hard enough as it is =p

  • Dukebdc October 15, 2012, 1:55 pm

Hmm, I think my husband might like the soy chorizo. He’s not a vegetarian, but I am, and I do most of the cooking, so I try to find filling, spicy options for him that are still veggie-friendly. 🙂

Oh, my height is such a sore subject for me! My dad is 5’10” and my mom is 5’4.5. For the last five generations on my mom’s side, the daughter has been a half-inch taller than her mother. Until me. Way to go Dukebdc, you broke family tradition! I barely hit 5’2″ (I measure a tad under that, but I round up unapologetically). My brother, on the other hand, is taller than my dad at 5’11”. I am the shortest person on either side of my family, and that includes my 88-year-old grandma! My younger cousins on my dad’s side (even the girls) were taller than me by the time they turned 10. However, my husband’s sister is only 4’10”, so I have company on that end of the spectrum at last. 🙂

  • Michelle S October 15, 2012, 1:55 pm

It’s so fun watching our kiddos grow and guess who got what from which side of the family.
My dad is 5’8 and my mom is 5’2. I ended up being 5’2, so there’s really no surprise there. It seems that height skipped a couple of generations when it comes to my son, though. My 7 year-old stands up to my shoulder (which isn’t saying much). You’d think he came from giants compared to most of the kids in his classes/activities, but I’m just 5’2 and his dad is 5’6.

  • Caitlin @ This Bride's Joyride October 15, 2012, 1:59 pm

I agree, a workout would be good mentally and physically!

My mom was 5’8 and my Dad was 5’9 (I say was because I think they have both shrunk a few inches!) and now I’m about 5’8 and taller than both my parents. My favorite is comparing sibling height, especially when you have the same gender. I have a theory that the younger sister (or second female child after a first female child) is always taller! I’m an inch taller than my older sister.

    • Sarah Walker October 15, 2012, 4:07 pm

The inverse relationship of age and height within a family is completely true in my mother’s family. My mother is the fourth of five girls and is the second tallest, with the youngest being the tallest and the oldest being the shortest.

      • Rebecca October 15, 2012, 7:59 pm

Yep, my younger sister is taller than I am by a few inches! And one of my best friends is slightly taller than her older sister, I think.

        • Kris October 15, 2012, 8:40 pm

My mom was taller than her older sister, my younger sister is taller than me, my niece is taller than her four older sisters.

  • whitney October 15, 2012, 2:02 pm

My dad is 5’11 and my mom is 5’2… I come in at a whopping 5’0! My husband is about 5’11 so I’m thinking that we’re going to have some average height kiddos.

(I’ll probably end up with a kid taller than me when they’re about 8 years old!)

  • Kendra @ My Full-Thyme Life October 15, 2012, 2:05 pm

Dad is 5′ 8″, Mom is 5′ 2″, I am 5’4″. That seems to fit! My brother was predicted to be 6′ or taller but he stopped at 5’8″ just like dad. My hubby is 6’1″ so it will be interesting to see where our kids end up!

I totally feel the same way about my son’s size. At birth he was 50% all around… height, weight, head. But now he has a giant head in the 90%!!! Oh how happy I am that it wasn’t that way at birth! Yeeeooowwwzza!

  • DadHTP October 15, 2012, 2:06 pm

85th percentile is between 5’11” and 6’1″ depending on birth year – so you’ll be looking up at a six footer at high school graduation! (YMMV – we had you calculated early on for 5’9″ !!!)

  • Megan@ The Running Doc October 15, 2012, 2:10 pm

My dad is 5’10” (5’11” according to him), my mom is 5’5″, and I’m 5’2″! I am far and away the shortest member of my immediate family (the next closest is my sister at 5’6″), but the short gene definitely comes from my dad’s side as both of his sisters are almost exactly as tall as me.

  • Mika October 15, 2012, 2:11 pm

Dad is 6’3″ while Mom is 5’8″. I thought I’d top out around 5’10” but here I stand at 6’2″. Unlike Henry, my now past-due son is at the ginormous point in the womb – 8 1/2 pounds as of today. His dad is 5’10”. Let’s hope that a lot of his weight is length! Here’s hoping he’ll make his appearance within the next 24 hours!

  • Rachel October 15, 2012, 2:11 pm

    Dad is 6’3, Mom is 5’8. I’m 5’9 🙂

  • Whitney October 15, 2012, 2:11 pm

My dad is 6’4″ and my mom is 5’7″. I ended up being 5’7″ and my little sister is 5;8″. Very interesting!

  • Laine October 15, 2012, 2:12 pm

My mom is/was (they shrink!) 5’9 (her dad was 6’4″) my dad is 5’8″ I think. I was always 5’8″ (and the giant of my family) but now I’m 5’9″ (corroborated by multiple doctors) which I attribute to yoga.

  • Becky October 15, 2012, 2:12 pm

Mom is 5’7″ Dad is 5’8″ and I am 5’9″.
    My husband is 5’10”.
My 3 month son has been 98% for height (and weight) since birth! Sure wish he would have waited to grow while he was on the outside.

  • Sarah @ Yogi in Action October 15, 2012, 2:12 pm

    That is a fun game!

My dad is 6’1 and my mom is 5’7. I’m 5’11 and my sister is 6′ (or as she say 5’11 and 3/4). Clearly we both got our tallness from our dad’s side!

  • Margaret October 15, 2012, 2:14 pm

My mom is 5’2″ and my dad is about 5’4″ or maybe 5″, I think… my mom always assured me and my sister that kids are always taller than their parents, so we’d be at least 5’2″. Nope. We’re both 5′ even. My parents’ siblings married taller, so all my cousins are tall or at least average height.

  • Rebecca @ Blueberry Smiles October 15, 2012, 2:16 pm

My dad’s 6’2 and my mom’s 5’2. My sister and I are both 5’4…..but they were hoping we’d be more in the middle. 5’6 would have been nice, but that’s what heels are for!

  • Beks October 15, 2012, 2:18 pm

Dad’s 6′, mom is 5’3″, older sis is 5’7″, and I’m 5’9″. I think it averages out for us.

  • Laura @ She Eats Well October 15, 2012, 2:20 pm

That soy chorizo looks quite amazing, actually! Love that spicy stuff.

I am a total shortie! My Mom is 5 ft 8 and Dad is 5 ft 11. I am a mere 5 ft 2….oh well. I can always wear heels, I suppose! 🙂

  • Michelle October 15, 2012, 2:21 pm

Dad is 6′. Mom is 5′. I split the diff at 5’6. 🙂 Though, for my hand and foot size I should be more like 5’9.

  • Jess October 15, 2012, 2:22 pm

My mum is 5 foot 3 inches, my dad is 6 foot even. I ended up 5 foot 7 inches, so pretty much in the middle.

  • Ellen October 15, 2012, 2:25 pm

My mom is 5’7 and my dad is 5’11. I am 5’8, my sister is 5’6 and my brother is 6′. Interesting how it all works out. 🙂

  • Caitlin October 15, 2012, 2:32 pm

We are following a delayed and reduced schedule recommended by our Ped. By reduced, I mostly mean that we are skipping things like the flu shot or chicken pox vac. I don’t ever want to do a post about the issue because people get worked up over it and – to be honest – I don’t feel like having my choice (despite being very educated and backed by Henry’s doctor) picked apart. I do think its worth noting that our plans would be totally different if he was in daycare. However if you want to email me, I would be happy to discuss it with you on a personal level!

    Congrats on your pregnancy!

  • Johanna B October 15, 2012, 2:33 pm

    I’m 5’8″ and my daughter’s father was 6’1″. She’s 6 foot on the nose.

  • Claire October 15, 2012, 2:41 pm

My dad is 5’8”, my mom is 5’5”. I somehow ended up a solid 5’11.5”. My brother is 6’3”. We have no idea where the height (or crazy curly hair) came from!

    • Lesley T. October 15, 2012, 6:55 pm

      That’s suspicious! :p

  • Hillary October 15, 2012, 2:41 pm

This is something I was discussing with my family the other day. We have a lot of odd ducks in my family—for example, my grandparents are both under 5’4 and somehow gave birth to a son (my uncle) who is 6’4! I guess I’m right about where I should be: my dad is 5’9, my mom is 5’1, and I am 5’1 3/4 (and yes, that 3/4 of an inch is very important when you are as short as I am!)

  • Ali October 15, 2012, 2:42 pm

My mom is 5’3″ and my dad is 6′. My older sister is 5’2″ and I’m somewhere between 5’5″ and 5’7″ depending on who is measuring me (it seriously changes – maybe there’s a yoga correlation here that I’ve been missing?). I usually say I’m 5’6″ to go with the happy medium. 🙂 My sister is short and her husband is my height but we think their oldest boy with be super tall. Though, he could go through his growth spurt in 2nd grade and grow 5 inches (!) in about 2-3 months during the second grade and just grow a little bit beyond that like I did. I was a giant until the middle of jr high when everyone else caught up to me (fun stuff!), now I’m the short one of all my friends!

  • Katie @ Peace Love & Oats October 15, 2012, 2:50 pm

I don’t know my parents heights exactly but I’m taller than my mom and about an inch or 2 shorter than my dad – I’m 5’6.75″ and yes, that 3/4 an inch is very important.

  • Erica October 15, 2012, 2:54 pm

My dad is 6’4 and my mom is 5’9, so they are both pretty tall. I am 5’11. These are so fun to read!

  • Amy K October 15, 2012, 2:56 pm

Hey, my dad is 6 foot 2 and my mum is 5 foot 7. My oldest sister is 5 foot 7.5 (she loves saying that she is taller than mum) and my second sister is 5 foot 6. I must have inherited my height from my dad because I am about 5 foot 11 ish (it has been a while and I am 18).

I really should measure myself to see if I have made it into the 6 foot club 😀

Love your blog by the way! Although since I live in England it sucks when I want to read some more in the morning but it is too early.

  • Rachel October 15, 2012, 3:06 pm

HA! I’ve got so much to do and such little time, but I needed a break!–>Just like you said! In order to further procrastinate–I am 5’10 while my dad is 6′ and my mom is 5’5. Interestingly I am the oldest and also the tallest, then my brother, the middle child, is 5’9 and my sister, the youngest, is 5’7….so we decreased in height each time! I get my height from my dad’s dad’s side of the family. My grandfather was 6’3 and his mom and dad (my great-grandparents) were 5’10 and 6’3 respectively (very tall for that time period, especially on the female side).

    Alright, now back to work!

  • Natalie @ Free Range Human October 15, 2012, 3:13 pm

My dad is about 5’10” and my mom is 5’3″. I’m a little over 5’5 so all in all it could’ve been worse!

  • Christina October 15, 2012, 3:23 pm

My mom was 5’4 and my dad was 5’6 and somehow I only ended up being 5’2!

  • Rachel O. October 15, 2012, 3:27 pm

My mom is 5’8 and my dad is 5’9 – i’m 5’6! on my mom’s side everyone is over 5’9 – with an aunt who teeters at almost 6′. but my dad’s side of the family is fairly short – with his sisters and my grandma being about 5’2 – so i think i average between the two sides.

  • Poptartyogini October 15, 2012, 3:35 pm

My dad is 6’1″ and my mom is 5’9″. I was tall in grammar school and I told my mom I was going to be taller than her. Well, I stopped growing in 4th grade and stand and 5”5 1/2″. Oops.

  • Aja October 15, 2012, 3:38 pm

Both of my parents are 5’8″ but I ended up at 5’2″. I feel ripped off.

  • Adrienne October 15, 2012, 3:44 pm

Dad is 6’3 and Mom is 5’8″. I’m 5’5″…and my twin brother is 6’3″ lol

  • Caitlin October 15, 2012, 3:44 pm

My mom is 5’10 and my dad is 6’2. Somehow I managed to make it to 6’3 1/2 though. I was never an average height growing up and I was 24″ long when I was born, they shoulda known then! Haha

  • Katheryn October 15, 2012, 3:59 pm

    • Lesley T. October 15, 2012, 6:53 pm

      Wow, interesting.

Are some of your grandparents on the shorter side?

  • Lisa October 15, 2012, 4:04 pm

Dad is 5’11” and mom is 5’2″. I’m almost right smack in the middle at 5’5 3/4″!

  • Sam @ Better With Sprinkles October 15, 2012, 4:10 pm

My mom is 5’6, and my dad is about 5’10. I’m 5’7 and my brother is about 5’9 – we’re pretty much right in the middle.

  • Sharon October 15, 2012, 4:13 pm

I don’t know about my parents but I am 5’11, husband is 6’1 and our son who just turned 14 was already 6’1 by the time he was 13. He has always been in the 90+ percentile. Doctors predict he’ll be around 6’4″ as an adult. As tall as I am, I never thought my 14 year old would be looking down at me!

  • Lindsay October 15, 2012, 4:13 pm

My mom is 5’7″ and my Dad is 5’8″. I am 5’10” and my brother is 6’3″. My parents are short in their families, so my brother and I got our height from our extended family!

  • CJ @ Fill the Well October 15, 2012, 4:18 pm

Mom is 5’3″. Dad is 5’11”. I am 5’7″ – smack dab in the middle!

Side note: did you know that you are taller in the morning than in the evening? Apparently the cartilage in your knees, spine, etc. compresses slowly throughout the day when you are standing/sitting (as opposed to sleeping horizontally). The difference isn’t huge – about 1 cm – but enough to be noticeable. I learned this when my teenage brother desperately wanted to grow taller…he was measuring himself often but was sometimes discouraged to discover he had “shrunk” :). His doctor told him to always measure first thing in the morning – this is your true height!

  • Jolene (Homespun Heritage) October 15, 2012, 4:25 pm

My parents are short (5’4″ and 5’6″) I am 5’3″ and I’m thrilled I’m not shorter! My husband is 5’10” and, so far, our birth girls are TINY TINY TINY and our son is only 3 weeks old but average thus far so we’ll see where he comes in on the scale.

My adoptive children all range from tiny to average to extremely tall! Love genetics…so much fun!

  • Maren October 15, 2012, 4:36 pm

Dad is 6’2″ and Mom is 5’4″ and I’m 5’10”! But my brother is 6’6″ and about 250! Now that’s huge! haha

  • Christina October 15, 2012, 4:44 pm

I wound up as a relative giant… my mom is 5’4″, my dad was about 5’10” at his peak, I’m 5’9″ and so is my brother.
When I was growing up, my mom was so excited for the day I could wear her shoes, and then I grew out of her size in about 2 months!

  • Katie October 15, 2012, 4:57 pm

My dad is 6′ or 6’1″, my mom is 5’6” and I’m 5’7″. My husband’s mom is only 4’10” but his dad is 6″ so he at least turned out at 5’9″!

    • Katie October 15, 2012, 4:58 pm

      6′ I mean

  • Annette@FitnessPerks October 15, 2012, 6:01 pm

My mom is 5’6′ and my dad is 6’3 and I am 5’8! We’re all pretty tall in my fam!

  • Jennifer October 15, 2012, 6:15 pm

My dad is 6’6″ and my mom is close to 5’4″. I ended up at 5’8″ and my older sister is only 5’3″ or 5’4″.

I read somewhere online that you can “predict” your child’s adult height by doubling their height at 2 years old. Our first child was 22″ at birth and has ALWAYS been above the 95% for height (he’s 4 now and probably the size of a 5 or 6 year old). So, his doubled height at 2 would make his grown height 6’4″. The pediatrician followed his same growth curve all the way to age 18 and predicted he would be between 6’2″ and 6’6″. I’ll be curious to see if any of the estimates are correct. Our youngest is about to be one so we can’t predict his height but I’m guessing he will be a fair amount shorter based on his current size compared to our first. My husband is the oldest of 3 three boys and taller than his dad and his brothers by 6 inches.

  • Lesley T. October 15, 2012, 6:52 pm

My dad is about 5’9″ and my mom is 5’10”. I’m 5’10”.

  • Claire October 15, 2012, 6:57 pm

My Dad was 5’6″ and solid and my Mum is 5’5″ and extremely petite height and weight wise. I’m 5’10” and slight and my older brother is 5’7″ and really solid. My husband is 6″ and of my three kids, two are above the 90th percentile for height and my 6 year old is already 5″ (but he was 53cms- about 21 inches? long and over 12 pounds at birth). He’s always been way off the charts and looks like a 9 year old, poor thing! I’m expecting number 4 in Jan (our first girl) so it will be interesting to see if she follows her brothers trajectory. As my ob says ‘you always have big kids!’

My dad is somewhere around 5’6″, and my mom is probably 5’2″ or something. I’m about 5′ even. My sister is taller by a couple of inches.
But most of the rest of the family is tall. My mom’s older brothers are all around 6′ and several of their kids (I have seven cousins) are close to 6′. Not sure where that height came from, because my grandma is about my height and I’m pretty sure my grandpa isn’t all that tall, either. And Dad’s side is all tall. I think I’m the shortest of the adults in my family, or close to it.

  • Katie @ Soulshine and Sassafras October 15, 2012, 8:15 pm

My dad is 6’2, my mom is 5’3. Some wives’ tale said I would be 5’7, but I’m just 5’2.

  • Lee October 15, 2012, 8:24 pm

My dd is 5’10” and my mom is 5’8″. I’m 5’7″.

  • Wendy October 15, 2012, 8:24 pm

My mum is 5’3″ and my dad 5’7″ (and shrinking… though they won’t admit to that!). I am 5’3″, but my younger brother is almost 6′! I believe that diet may have influenced this, as I’m born in Hong Kong and my brother in the UK and we eat quite differently! Also factor that he probably drank more milk, had more protein, and basically ate and slept. He was a chubby baby that just ended up stretching out over time!

  • Kris October 15, 2012, 8:48 pm

My dad was 5’10, mom was (shrinking) 5’5-1/2. My brother is almost 5’10, I’m almost 5’4, my sister is almost 5’8. Both my grandmothers and my paternal aunt were 5’3, so I know where I got my height.

  • jameil October 15, 2012, 9:21 pm

My grandma was 5’11 (shrinkage), grandpa was about 5’6 (I know!) and my mom is 5’3 LOL. My dad is 5’7. I’m 5’1 & 1/4 (LOL), my sister is 5’5. I always hoped my grandma’s height would dribble down to me. Her shortest sibling is 5’8, the tallest was 6’3, both of her parents were over 6 feet tall. Sooo jealous. My husband is 5’8. His mom is 5’6, dad was 6 feet. Come on tall children! 🙂

  • Emily October 15, 2012, 9:39 pm

My mom is 5’3, my dad is 5’4, my sisters are 4’11 and 5’1 and I’m 5′ 0. We’re a whole bunch of shorties, all of us!

  • Sarah (the shu box) October 15, 2012, 10:12 pm

According to the mid parental height formula we use in peds endo, you should have been 5’7″! (and I should have been 5’4″. Oh well on both counts!). Baby Annabel is currently rocking the 5th percentile for height… 30th weight :).

  • Stellina @ My Yogurt Addiction October 15, 2012, 10:13 pm

My mom is 5’8 and my dad is 6ft. I am 5’10.5….right in between!

  • Katie @ Talk Less, Say More October 15, 2012, 10:20 pm

My mom has always called me her short daughter…she’s 5’10” (or 5’11”?) and my dad is 5’11”. There was a while my mom was worried I’d hit 6′ (her brothers are 6’9″, 6’7″ and 6’5″) but I seemed to have caught the “short girl” gene from my dad’s side of the family because I’m 5’5″ which is about in line with my aunts and grandma from that side.

  • Emily B October 15, 2012, 11:03 pm

My Mum is tiny – 5 foot – and my Dad is 6 foot. I’m 5 foot 2. However I was a ginormous baby size-wise. My head, when I was born was in the 98th percentile (no wonder Mum needed a C-section!) and I was 9-pound-2 so I was pretty big lol. My head’s still big – like my dad’s – although I took the short gene from my mum.

  • mollie October 15, 2012, 11:06 pm

my mom is 5’6″ and my dad is 6’2″. i’m 5’7.” my husband is an inch shorter than me 🙂

  • heather October 16, 2012, 8:54 am

I am 5’7″. My mom is 5’2″ and my dad was 6’5″.

I was really petite as a toddler and young child. My pediatrician told my parents they would be lucky if I hit 5 feet. My dad was excited because the time we had race horses and he thought I would get to be a jockey. No such luck!

If you take the soy chorizo and pan fry it really quickly, then add some pre-cooked beans it makes a great taco/burrito filling. Try it! I like to smash the beans down a little so the chorizo gets incorporated fully.

  • Courtney October 16, 2012, 11:49 am

Haha, these height comparisons are fun! My dad is 6’0″ and my mom is 5’4″. I somehow ended up at a whopping 4’10”. Three cheers for the shorties! 😛

  • Lea @ Greens and Coffee Beans October 16, 2012, 11:52 am

My mom is 5′ 10″, my dad is 5’11” and both of my brothers are are 6’1″. I’m 5’4″, I feel gypped.

  • Ellen @ Wannabe Health Nut October 16, 2012, 12:11 pm

Ohh I wish I had seen this post when I did my TJ’s food shop this week! I need to get that chorizo next time. I did however, break down and buy pumpkin pancakes…finally. Ok, so my dad was 6’1, my mom is 5’1 and I’m 5’2 1/2″. I guess I should be about 5’5, but I’m a triplet, and my mom’s theory is that we all “stole” height from each other. ha!

  • Shauna@Pleasure, not Punishment October 16, 2012, 1:27 pm

My dad is 6’4 and my mom is 5’7. I am 5’7. WHAT THE HECK? Where are our extra couple inches?

  • Rob Runs October 16, 2012, 2:19 pm

My mom is barely 5’2″, my dad is just about 6 feet tall. I’m 5’9″, making me by far the tallest woman in the family.

I haven’t tried TJ’s “chorizo” but I am completely addicted to the Soyrizo I get at our grocery store. Most excellent on nachos or in spaghetti sauce!

  • elizabeth October 16, 2012, 2:31 pm

I’m surprised you’re not taller from your dad!

My mom is 5’5.5″ and my dad is 5’9″. where as I am pretty much in the middle at 5’7″ and my brother is 5’10”. They told my parents I would be 5’10” when I was a baby… I want an inch or two more for my legs, my legs are stumps. 🙂

  • Cyn October 16, 2012, 3:33 pm

    I like this game!

    My dad is 5’11”, my mom is 5’5″ and I’m 5’9″. I’d take 5’3″ any day! =)

  • Brigid October 16, 2012, 4:38 pm

My dad is 5’9″, my mom is 5’5″, and I’m 5’3″. Recessive genes FTW! Conversely, my stepmom was 5’10”, and my 16-year-old half-brother is currently 6′ with a size 13 shoe. My half-sister is only 13 but wears a size 12 in women’s! TWELVE! I wear a 6.5 and will definitely be the small one.

  • Amber K October 16, 2012, 7:46 pm

My dad is 6’0 and my mom is 5’0 and I ended up 5’5”. My husband is 6’8” and I have already realized that if we ever have kids of our own they will all be taller than me!
