My iPhone Life

in All Posts

Morning.  French toast, anyone?

IMG_9827

I’m loving the concept of grilling sunflower seeds into the French toast.  I just sprinkle them on the egg side when the bread is on the griddle and carefully flip it over so the seeds stay in place.

On top:  more sunflower seeds, berries, Greek yogurt.  Mmm.

Are you an iPhone addict like me?  I love everything iPhone – although I actually don’t use that many apps; it’s more for emailing, messaging, and Google abilities.  But I particularly LOVE the camera.  I swear, I take iPhone photos of the most random things, and it’s pretty amusing to flip through the 800-odd photos and see what I deemed worthy of a photography over the past two years or so.

Here’s what’s been going in my life recently, at least according to iPhone photos.

Dogs.

1

Lots of dogs.

2

Swollen pregnancy fingers.  Haven’t worn my rings in nearly two months.

3

Body image lesson at Girls on the Run (I miss coaching!!!).

12

Gardening.  So. Much. Gardening.

4

Nicole gave me Diet Dr. Pepper and a flashlight for my birthday.  Best gift ever.

5

Watermelon wheel!

6

My dogs are destructive.  I couldn’t believe James ate the eyes out of this gorilla.  He’s had him for four years!

7

True that.

8

Constant Operation Beautiful action.

9

Acupuncture, acupuncture, acupuncture.  (It really doesn’t hurt – I promise.)

10

What ginormous ears you have.

11

Starting line at the Girls on the Run 5K.

14

And last, but not least, our closet.  I have never, ever had a walk-in before.  It is glorious.

13

What’s going on in your life, at least according to photos?

I don’t take a ton of photos with my phone, but I did take one of Max (my 11 year old) with his 5th grade completion certificate yesterday! I am the worst at taking pictures with my phone…they are always so shaky!

  • Lindsey May 24, 2012, 9:59 am

Do you buy your sunflower seeds already out of the shells? If so, where do you get them?! Thanks!

  • Megan@ The Running Doc May 24, 2012, 10:02 am

I just switched to an iphone (from an android) a few months ago and I take pictures of everything! I’m pretty sure there are at least 500 pictures of my dog alone. I basically document every single moment of my life on that phone. 🙂 I can only imagine what someone would think if I lost it and they looked through all the photos!

  • Christy May 24, 2012, 10:02 am

Funny about the pregnancy fingers! I couldn’t wear mine either but felt naked without it. So I went to Kohl’s and bought a cheapy silver ring. 🙂

Since my camera konked out on me a few months ago, I’ve been relying on my iPhone camera a lot more lately. Actually, I rely on my fiance’s phone since he has the iPhone 4 and I still have the 3G version. The 4 takes some really awesome photos–especially compared with mine. Mmmm watermelon! I really want some, especially since it’s going to be 33C today with the humidity.

  • Mellissa May 24, 2012, 10:22 am

I love random iPhone pics, mine involve pictures of my car smashed in a hit and run (I was parked and thankfully not in it), the dogs, and a recipe I found interesting in a waiting room magazine.

  • Annette@FitnessPerks May 24, 2012, 10:23 am

What a great mix of photos! ANd thank YOU for the Greek yogurt idea atop pancakes, waffles, etc. It is SOO yumm.

  • Earthy Nicole May 24, 2012, 10:26 am

That gorilla looks so creepy now, lol!

According to my phone.. I bled profusely from a tiny cut yesterday, made a really random meal the other night, had a horrible time babyproofing bathroom cabinets, kept my little girls hair in a braid all night, woke up to a snuggly kitty, and had a lot of fun at the park Sunday morning.

    Love it.

  • Cindy May 24, 2012, 10:30 am

My latest beach trip and my kitten. Yeah, I live the life here! 🙂

  • Rachel Starr May 24, 2012, 10:35 am

99.9% of my iPhone pics are of my kids 🙂 its just the most easily accessible camera to snap those sweet faces! Plus, I can immediately email or text message the pics to family 🙂

  • Sara May 24, 2012, 10:39 am

Hope it’s OK I have closet envy. (And most of my phone pics are of animals.)

  • Laura is Undeterrable May 24, 2012, 10:46 am

According to my phone – crossfit, wearing running shoes, and some eating. And DOGS. Lots of dogs. Ok, I’ll admit that the little female dog kept humping the bigger male dog and I thought it was hilarious so I kept trying to take a pic.

Also, the recruiting station where my husband joined the USMC was torn down, so I snapped a pic of it reduced to rubble. Bwahahahaha.

  • Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat May 24, 2012, 11:16 am

I LOVE that watermelon shot! Yes, I am very much an iPhone fan. I used to be in camp Blackberry but it froze so often that I was never really able to use it to its full potential. Lately I’ve been Instagramming like crazy, and before I got my SLR, my iPhone (4) was my food blogging camera of choice – even better than my point-and-shoot!

  • Sarah May 24, 2012, 11:28 am

Construction site, spring skiing, baby neice, my dog, 12k run, my dog, baby ducks, MS Walk, dog, pancakes.

  • Kate @ life's precious moments May 24, 2012, 11:30 am

Haha.. great pictures! It is so fun to look through old photos on my phone. I think that the iphone is wonderful/terrible thing. I don’t use the apps either but I am constantly returning emails, texting, and readings blogs. I actually missed my bus stop the other day because I was reading… opps!

  • Kattrina May 24, 2012, 11:36 am

If you can believe it, I don’t have an iphone. Yeah, I’m like one of the last people in the world without a smartphone. My husband has an iphone and it was too expensive to get two, so it’s just him. I grab it every once in a while and play Scramble with Friends with my sister, but that’s about it. Since I’ve never had an iphone I don’t miss it too much – plus it’s nice to be the only one at a meeting not constantly checking my phone to see new work emails, etc. But I definitely feel out of the loop sometimes!

  • Emelie May 24, 2012, 11:38 am

Is it me or does James have the same ears as Yoda (Star Wars)? Appropriate for a little zen master!

  • Helen May 24, 2012, 11:50 am

Food….my dog wearing a variety of silly things on her head…food…a pair of muddy legs after a trail race (8 pics)…food…food…running stuffs…flowers…my dog in the snow…

I am starting to see a pattern emerging here….

  • Laura May 24, 2012, 12:03 pm

    Pictures of:

My students, my students, food, my body (fitness), my nail polish swatches on my nails, a puppy, and the pow wow i went to.

  • Alyse May 24, 2012, 12:25 pm

    Ears. James’ ears. .oh.my.

  • Faith @ For the Health of It May 24, 2012, 12:27 pm

GAH that acupuncture picture! I’m not skeeved out by needles and I actually spent the majority of yesterday writing about acupuncture for my job, but that…wow. Makes me a little skeeved out!

According to my phone, though, I’m just obsessed with my dog. It’s sad what percentage of my photos are of her.

  • Hillary May 24, 2012, 12:29 pm

Apparently I’ve been baking a lot! Cookie photos take up half of my memory card right now.

  • Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed May 24, 2012, 12:55 pm

SO jealous of your closet, it looks awesome! We live in a super old house and apparently they didn’t believe in closets at the time, so the spare bedroom is my clothes room complete with a giant Ikea wardrobe! It’s never coming out of that room though because it’s so huge haha.

  • Katie @ Peace Love and Oats May 24, 2012, 1:59 pm

I LOVE my iPhone. I would t be able to get anywhere on public transit in Chicago without it! I also use mine to take pictures for my blog!

  • Amber K May 24, 2012, 2:51 pm

I don’t have an iPhone, or even a smartphone for that matter! But going off the pictures I do take with my camera it’s all about food and my nieces and nephews.

  • Lexi @ You, Me, & A World to See May 24, 2012, 3:00 pm

Oh my gosh. iPhone camera=my best friend! I have over 1,000 pictures…probably primarily of food 😉

  • Jessica G. May 24, 2012, 4:19 pm

I take sooooo many iPhone pics. Latest: turtles swimming in a pond, a mole my cat killed, Korean food I made, Jamaican peanut soda I saw in an international grocery store, some random beer (why is there a picture of this and where was it taken??). Haha.

  • Finding a skinnier me May 24, 2012, 4:23 pm

Gardening.. lots of adorable puppy pictures.. funny distorted pictures (playing with the effects on my phone) and pictures for my blog!!

  • Brooke May 24, 2012, 6:53 pm

Mmm that french toast looks so tasty! I could definitely eat french toast every day!

And my iPhone contains photos of mostly food and my little dachshund. 🙂

  • Alyssa May 24, 2012, 9:39 pm

Not trying to be all Debbie Downer, but as a needle-phobe, I seriously need a warning before seeing a picture like that. I’m about to go have some serious nightmares and I don’t even know if I’ll be able to get up in time to leave an Operation Beautiful note tomorrow!

  • Megan May 24, 2012, 9:41 pm

Looking at my last 10 different photos, starting with the most recent:
    1) my friend’s baby Abby on my lap, at the dept BBQ this afternoon
    2) a map of the central coast of California on my lap (a trend?) from last weekend’s road trip to Big Sur
    3) Big Sur photo
    4) smokey air over Arizona, from the fires west of Phoenix, as seen from the plane
    5) mom eating breakfast on Mother’s day
    6) dog with tennis ball in the backyard
    7) fireworks from a show
    8) incubus on stage at said show
    9) dog in bed with me
    10) my finger, after I attempted to amputate it with a chart clip

    Yup!

  • Emily May 25, 2012, 1:03 am

I don’t have any kind of smartphone. I wouldn’t have a mobile at all if I had my way, I hate texting and have no motivate to activate my facebook after 3 years – I’m free!:) Also I lose things too easily to own something so expensive, but that’s just me. Great pics though!

  • Jenny May 25, 2012, 3:56 am

U know how when you used to stumble upon pregnant mothers’ blogs and look at their pictures thinking: “Boy, can anyone still look so ridiculously amazing at this stage?” I just wanna let u know… I bet plenty of readers out there are thinking that way – so lift yr chin and flash a smile. You’re beautiful, and so is your baby (who’s popping out soon!) going to look.

    • Caitlin May 25, 2012, 10:59 am

Thank you Jenny 🙂 This made my morning.

  • Alett May 25, 2012, 8:40 am

I love the camera on my iPhone!! Even though I download the photos to my computer I love having the copies on my phone so I can be nostalgic 🙂 I do delete some to keep the numbers down but I still have 2,634 photos on my phone!

My recent photo was a screen snapshot of the weather in Burlington, VT for the upcoming Vermont City marathon. Two friends are running the marathon, and I am running it as a 2person relay.

Before that is the picture of the doggie stairs that we bought so the dogs would be safe getting up and down off of our new couch. then there’s the cute foster kittens my friend has…and the GIANT pancake ..dogs…more dogs…GOTR…the cat…more of our dogs…

    you get the picture 🙂

  • Jessica May 25, 2012, 9:52 am

What are your medals hanging on? I’m trying to squint and turn my head (as if it could help) but I still can’t read it. Mine are all on doorknobs of doors I rarely open, I need a better solution.
