Five Goals

The cravings continue.

How goes it?  My Wednesday is going swimmingly.  Just a normal day full of work.  To make it a little bit more fun, though, I thought I’d create a list of 5 {healthy} things I want to accomplish today:

1.  Eat watermelon.  Obviously.

2.  Hit up the gym after work or go for a long walk – whichever I’m in the mood for.

3.  Eat a vegetable-rich lunch.

4.  Call my grandpa to tell him I love them.

5.  Get up and walk around for 5 minutes for every hour I spend at the computer.

Gotta create that healthy intention, right?  Oh, and speaking of healthy intentions, the winner of the HTP book giveaway from Monday is… Amber K!  Her career hopes and dreams have included: “I’ve wanted to everything from “a mommy” in grade school, to a psychologist in middle school and a teacher in high school. I still don’t think I’ve quite figured out what I want to do.”  By the way, it was REALLY fun to read everyone’s childhood career goals.  My favorite was Hillary’s, who wanted to be a fish when she grew up.  ME TOO!

Breakfast was courtesy of the Husband – a bowl of Rice Chex and trail mix.  I like it when he makes the cereal because he never goes overboard on the milk.  Too much milk in cereal is the worst.  The breakfast equivalent of soggy broccoli.

So – what’s your healthy intention (or five) for the day?

Healthy intention for the day is going for my 12th run following the Couch to 5k programme. I have only 4 weeks to prepare to my first 5k run (http://www.straverona.it/2012/02/infostraverona/) and I really want to work hard and try not to skip a training – from next week the pace increases dramatically! Plus, I’ve realized that this training is making me feel so good – do you find yourself actually *smiling* while you’re running??

I love those goals! So simple yet so important.

My healthy intention is to stop hitting the snooze button in the morning (more of an ongoing intention rather than today). I just can’t stop and I waste so much time in the morning snoozing.

  • Tabitha May 9, 2012, 10:24 am

My healthy intention is for the mind. Quit thinking so negatively! Positive Positive Positive. It’s important to remember there are people who truely are worse off than I am and it’s important to remember and be thankful for everything in my life…everyday!

  • Sana May 9, 2012, 10:34 am

Ugh. Soggy food is the worsttt!

  • briana May 9, 2012, 10:44 am

My healthy intention for the week is to go on a walk each day after work! So far, so good!

Oooh I LOVE watermelon! I’m actually off to pick one up over my lunch hour because they’re currently on sale and super juicy! My healthy intention is to drink at least 3L of water, take regular walking breaks away from my desk, and do some stretching this afternoon (because I think I’ve pulled a groin muscle and it hurrrrrrrrrts!)

  • Ashley May 9, 2012, 11:13 am

My healthy intentions for today are to include kale in my lunch today and to go to kickboxing class tonight! Love the idea of setting healthy goals for the day!

  • MigraineMe May 9, 2012, 11:16 am

Watermelon makes my mouth water for summertime! 🙂 My healthy intention of the day is to try to stick to my meals and my one morning snack and one afternoon snack and not just “stress eat” throughout the afternoon when assigned a task at work that I don’t know how to do (i.e. don’t start eating a bag of nuts at my desk all afternoon while I’m nervous, like I frequently do)!

I love the one about calling your grandpa. All of my grandparents have passed away, and every day I wish I could have just one more chance to hug them, to see their smiles, and to say how much I’ll always love them. Sometimes those simple words can mean the world!

  • Cait @ Beyond Bananas May 9, 2012, 11:30 am

I have been focusing on drinking lots of water not only for today.. but for the whole week! Unfortunately, we had a water main break in our complex on Monday – so I’ve been carrying around a gallon of water at home until the water is safe to drink again!

  • Annette@FitnessPerks May 9, 2012, 11:47 am

My healthy intention is to take a NAP and drink lots more water throughout the day (instead of all at once).

  • brandi May 9, 2012, 11:47 am

    love this!

    – make a home-cooked dinner
    – pick and eat all the strawberries i can from the garden. drool.

Haha, glad you enjoyed my big time childhood aspirations!

My healthy intention for the day is to go for a walk during lunch. I’ll get to the gym later this afternoon, but I want to take advantage of the nice weather and stretch my legs!

  • Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed May 9, 2012, 12:03 pm

My goal for the day is to get a run in rain or shine. But if it is thunderstorming when I’m done work then I guess I’ll be doing some kind of online HIIT workout!

  • diana May 9, 2012, 12:09 pm

to NOT touch the candy bowl at work!

  • Lindsey May 9, 2012, 12:20 pm

    Drink 750mL before 5pm!
Go to the gym tonight and run 5km.
Get to bed by 10pm, it was an early morning!

  • Kendra @ My Full-Thyme Life May 9, 2012, 12:29 pm

1)Drink 64oz of water while at work
2)Go buy prenatal vitamins b/c we just found out we are expecting!!!
3)I’m going to steal your intention of getting up and moving after every hour at the computer. That’s a goodie!
3)Go for what I like to call an “exercise walk” after work.

  • KaraHadley May 9, 2012, 12:30 pm

My healthy intention is to do at least 30 pushups and a total of 5 minutes of plank split between forearm and both sides.

  • Laura @ She Eats Well May 9, 2012, 1:19 pm

That first picture is classic. Ha!

My healthy intention is to get outside during the work day. It can make such a big difference!

  • Amber K May 9, 2012, 1:23 pm

Yay! I can’t wait to give that book to my friend (already bought a copy for myself, naturally!) Thanks for the reminder to get up for every hour I’m sitting at the computer. That’s something I don’t do nearly often enough.

Another healthy intention I’ll plan for is to eventually get back to exercising! I haven’t been since I’ve been on antibiotics because they make me feel so nauseous if I move too much. But I should at least go to the gym and lift weights or slowly pedal on a bike or something!

  • Kati Mora, MS, RD, Kellogg's FiberPlus(R) Wellness Advocate May 9, 2012, 1:49 pm

I’m loving the cereal + trail mix combo! I can’t believe I haven’t thought of that yet. Guess I know what I’ll be trying tomorrow! 😉

  • Katie @ Peace Love & Oats May 9, 2012, 1:57 pm

Haha I feel like I’m seeing double! Janae on Hungry Runner Girl is also pregnant and craving watermelon!

  • Michelle May 9, 2012, 3:18 pm

My healthy intention today is to 1. Drink at least 2 glasses of water, 2. Manage my stress, especially around the dinner hour, 3. Eat my veggies for dinner, 4. read and print the Couch to 5K plan, and 5. Walk my pups and kids tonight. It is all possible!

  • Anna May 9, 2012, 10:59 pm

    What a good idea…I’ll do my 5 for tomorrow…
    1. Do a chest and triceps lifting circuit
    2. Not eat dessert (too many the last week)
    3. Work on my triathlon training plan
    4. Go for a walk in the morning…to get coffee 🙂
    5. call my sister

  • Jeanelle @ Glocal Girl May 10, 2012, 7:24 am

mine was to practice yoga before going into work 🙂 and also make a healthy, yummy dinner tonight… still working on a recipe!

  • AmandaonMaui May 10, 2012, 3:20 pm

In the computer game “The Sims” if your sim eats enough watermelon while pregnant she will have a girl. If she eats a lot of apples she’ll have a boy. It’s kind of funny that you’re eating lots of watermelon now.
