Hotel Hello

Have I ever mentioned that I have this weird fear of hotel hallways?  I think they are so creepy.

Willies.

Anyway – I braved the hotel hallway to make my way downstairs to the hotel gym.  I didn’t get down there until 8:45, after I was work with a work project, and honestly… I could barely believe that I was actually going to work out.  But I have this theory about packing sneakers.  If I pack them, I need to use them or I needlessly made my suitcase heavy.  So to the gym it was!  I did 20 minutes on the treadmill and 10 on the elliptical.  Once I started movin’, it wasn’t so bad.

But the bright spot of my day was surely seeing Tina for dinner.  We talk all the time on g-chat (after all, we met thanks to the Interwebs!) but there’s nothing like hanging out in person.

We both got grilled cheese with tomato soup, which was ridiculously tasty.

However, it made my stomach hurt (no surprise there).  Sad face.

Did you tackle a workout today, too?  I swear – talking myself into doing it is usually the hardest part!

Oh fun Tina! Guessing you’re in Boston?

  • kathleen @ the daily crumb December 7, 2011, 10:07 pm

i snuck in a run SUPER early this morning (5:45!), but it was the only free moment. glad i did it!

I ‘talked’ about working out today. Unfortunately I didn’t ‘talk’ myself into actually doing it. Hey, tomorrow is a new day.

I’ve been super wishy washy with workouts, and I have barely worked out consistently in MONTHS, but I’m trying to get on track for the holidays + beyond. Tonight I just did a mile run – nothing amazing, but I’m proud of myself for doing it.

  • Kathryn December 7, 2011, 10:15 pm

Heading to the gym now! I’m a total gym night owl- nothing like a hard workout and a hot shower to get me ready for bed!

  • Jen December 7, 2011, 10:23 pm

Have you ever watched or read The Shining? That could definitely contribute to hotel hallway fear!

Happy & safe travels – hope the hubby doesn’t break down & let James back in the bed (haha…just read those posts)! 🙂

I got in a great lifting workout to celebrate the end of my semester! I’ve never worked out past ohhh 5 or 6pm, very impressed with your late night session!

  • Courtney December 7, 2011, 10:30 pm

I HATE hotel hallways too. I always get creeped out and want to run to my room. I think it comes from years of my older sister forcing me to watch “Unsolved Mysteries”

  • Anne @strawberryjampackedlife December 7, 2011, 10:48 pm

I hope you had fun in Boston. Sorry it was absolutely ugly outside. UGH! Like a cold December rain. Maybe snow tomorrow.

I ran past my old college campus today 🙂 It was a chilly 4 mile run today. The hardest part of a workout is actually getting there. Once you’re doing it, it’s cake. I once talked a lady into doing her workout. She was in the bathroom talking to herself and I kind of looked up at her. She said to me that she didn’t want to do this today. I told her she was already here, and that’s the hardest part! And she did her workout 🙂

  • Katie @ Peace Love and Oats December 7, 2011, 10:49 pm

I had to workout today! I was practically shaking from anxiety! A technical issue caused me to have to do months of school work in one week… And the clock is ticking much too quickly. Exercise is the best stress relief!

  • Heather @ Better With Veggies December 7, 2011, 10:52 pm

I did a treadmill tempo workout – hard and good! Hotel hallways are can really be creepy.

  • Margaret December 7, 2011, 10:55 pm

    Inception hallway?

  • Laura December 7, 2011, 11:05 pm

I used to love hotel hallways! I would do as many leaps as I could down them. They were just long skinny dance floors to me.

  • Sara December 7, 2011, 11:06 pm

I’ve always been creeped out by hotel hallways, but I also have an over-active imagination.

I did not workout today. I woke up feeling sore and tired, so I slept a bit more before I had to get ready for work. I nearly had a panic attack at work, and my day turned out cruddy. I now wonder if there was any connection to the non-workout and cruddiness. My win today is that I have NOT ate my feelings the way I want to….seriously…my boss brought in homemade pumpkin and banana nut muffins that called “eat me” all day. But I didn’t, so I win.

I am considering yoga before bed, but may pass out before. I’m allowing myself a human day.

I love hotel hallways. I’ve totally strutted down them like a runway since I was a little kid and will continue to do so until I’m too old to walk 😉

  • Jessica @ The Process of Healing December 7, 2011, 11:14 pm

It is quite obvious I haven’t had a grilled cheese in way too long.. that looks amazing!

  • mi-an d. December 7, 2011, 11:30 pm

i feel the same about hotel hallways!!!!! sooo eerie and freaky!!!!!!

  • Chelsea December 7, 2011, 11:53 pm

Four mile run this morning whoop =D & awh I love love meeting blogger friends!

  • Allie December 8, 2011, 12:04 am

I tackled a run today too! After seeing your tweet {yesterday} about running being about mentally doing it, I just had to get out there! It was slow, but I did it 🙂

  • Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn December 8, 2011, 12:14 am

I hate them too! I think it’s the fact that they go forever and ever. And uhhh The Shining. Freaky deak. You two are adorable muffins!

  • Khushboo December 8, 2011, 1:01 am

haha was that sad face on the soup intentional? I share your trainers theory on holiday- if they are going to take up space, you better believe they will be used!

  • jassy @ Healthy Egg December 8, 2011, 1:18 am

grilled cheese…you’re making me hungry! 🙂

  • Hayley @ Oat Couture December 8, 2011, 4:22 am

Hotel or just long hallways are definitely creepy! I think we have the shining to thank for that! :/ That grilled cheese and tomato soup looks like the best thing EVER!! Comfort food at it’s best! And think of all the antioxidants in the soup! 🙂

  • Juliane @ C'est moi à Paris December 8, 2011, 4:28 am

I also had the problem that I had to talk myself into doing workouts but ever since I am just doing what I really love (bodyrock and ashtanga yoga) my workouts don’t feel like a chore anymore.

  • Dana @ the Big Fat Skinny December 8, 2011, 7:36 am

I DID tackle a workout … it’s been so tough to get myself in the gym or onto the street since being pregnant this time around and that’s so unusual for me. It’s taken a greater effort, but after I’m finished I feel SO MUCH better!

  • Tina December 8, 2011, 7:47 am

It was so nice to see you! I wish we had more time together, but I’ll plan a trip to Charlotte soon! GOOD LUCK today! 🙂

P.S. That photo of me is awful! HAHA!

  • Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin December 8, 2011, 8:39 am

Grilled cheese and tomato soup? Yes please! That meal reminds me of my childhood!

I ran yesterday too. And I tried to do a weights workout, but I just wasn’t feeling it. 😛

  • Amanda December 8, 2011, 9:05 am

I know what you mean about hotel hallways. Hotels in general freak me out. I don’t like to think about sleeping in a bed that other people I don’t know have slept in, and I’m always worried about bed bugs. Ick!

I got in an awesome workout – bodypump and then a spin class. Kicked my butt!

  • Sara December 8, 2011, 10:01 am

I really was so anti-gym and didn’t understand why people joined them if they could go run around the block or use weights at home. Then we changed our life insurance policy and while what I was doing worked for me, my husband (who didn’t exercise–though I offered) turns out has high cholesterol. At 29. So he’s taking some of my dietary advice and I decided that we will make going to a gym work in our budget! We have a tight budget, but by not really eating out at all and cutting corners here or there–we will manage. We went for the first time this week and I really had a great time! I can totally see why people join gyms! Plus I feel working out together will be a nice bonding time. Just felt like posting since you asked about workouts. I give my co-worker (who walks with me at lunch) and healthy living blogs a lot of credit for helping me move my butt and find my own healthy tipping point 🙂 What a random comment!

    • Sara December 8, 2011, 10:02 am

@Sara: P.S.–wanted to add that my parents paid our joining fee as a Christmas present. I can really see how gym memberships can be a great gift!

  • Jen December 8, 2011, 10:02 am

I blame The Shining for making hotel hallways creepy.

  • Julia @ Brides Up North December 8, 2011, 10:46 am

    Thats the SHINING effect 🙂

  • Amber K December 8, 2011, 2:05 pm

Definitely creepy and I haven’t even seen The Shining.

  • AmandaonMaui December 8, 2011, 6:21 pm

Hotel hallways are creepy. If you saw the Doctor Who episode “The God Complex,” you’d be set in that for sure.

Was it the bread on the sandwich that got your stomach?

I’m sorry you’re not feeling well, and I hope you’ll fell better quickly. Check out Gluten Free Easily’s post on how to overcome the gluten belly. http://glutenfreeeasily.com/honor-your-body-how-to-recover-after-being-glutened-gluten-exposure/

I love hotel gyms because the equipment is so much better than what I have at home. It also feels really motivating to me because I don’t want to be cooped up in a hotel room all day.

  • Angie December 8, 2011, 8:26 pm

I tackled a Body Step class this morning at 5:30am even though I really wanted to stay in bed. It has been super hard for me to get up in the morning lately…not sure why…

Love all the baby updates – makes me want to have one soon too 🙂
