A Yes Day

in All Posts

I’m feelin’ lucky today.

I dreamt that I was back in high school, except high schools were now held on giant airplanes due to intense overpopulation.  For some reason, I was carrying my childhood cat Matilda around and wearing my wedding dress when the plane crashed.  The back part of the plane broke off and skidded away, while the rest exploded.  I was in the back (on the toilet) and survived.

Yeah.  So I’m feeling lucky today.  It’s not even noon and I’ve already survived an epic disaster.

In the mix:

Vanilla Greek yogurt

Canned pumpkin + honey

Almonds

Brown rice crispy cereal

Raw oats

And… I’m off.  Loads of writing to do and then (hopefully) a little fun.

Thought of the Day:

"When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: ‘If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.’ It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something." – Steve Jobs

That quote from Steve Jobs never gets old. It’s an incredible way to view each day and life in general.

  • Tricia December 28, 2011, 11:20 am

Your dream totally made me think that your next book should be a dystopian novel 🙂

I really like that quote. He was a very wise man. I have to say though, I really wish high schools were now on airplanes

I don’t always want to work, but I do want to keep my job! 🙂

    That’s a great quote!

Dreams are so weird, I wonder what it means symbolically to survive an airplane crash? I like to look up the meaning of my dreams on dreammoods.com! In my dream last night I was flirting with Derek Jeter but then an angry mob came to his door and I had to hide in his secret bomb shelter… hmm!

    Hi Caitlin!

I read your blog ALL THE TIMEEEEEEEEEE and you’re on my blogroll but you don’t know that.

AND you live in NC like me (I’m in Durham)

How do your hand not turn orange from eating pumpkin?! Mine do!

    much love – Jasper Naomi

Lol – what a crazy dream! I especially love that you were randomly on the toilet. The only time I ever go to the bathroom in a dream is when I have to go in real life. Once I really have to go, my dream turns entirely into a mission to find bathrooms, but every time I find one, I leave and still have to go, since I obviously still have to go in real life, so I then have to try to find another. So funny.

I don’t have any crazy dreams like that, in fact I don’t dream often in general. Sounds like fun 😉

What a great quote! Definitely a thinker.

Love the last quote, I am feeling a lot of that lately. Time for changes! =)

I read that you can’t die in your dreams, but I did once! I dreamt that I was hit by a train. It was oddly peaceful.*

  • Khushboo December 28, 2011, 2:28 pm

I love Steve Jobs’ quotes- they always hit home!

  • cathy December 28, 2011, 3:10 pm

You know how you were saying you needed a good idea for your fiction book? I think your dream gave you an awesome jumping off point. You just need to figure out if that’s the beginning or the end. 🙂

  • Allison December 28, 2011, 4:13 pm

I saw the quote “it’s never to late to restart your day” somewhere recently and it’s really stuck with me and think it’s totally true!

  • Katie @ Peace Love & Oats December 28, 2011, 5:35 pm

that is a great quote by steve jobs. I should think about that more often! And so glad you survived the crash!

  • Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin December 28, 2011, 7:22 pm

Haha what a crazy dream! Were you watching Lost before you went to bed? 😉 I remember I had a dream about a plane crash back when Lost was still on tv!
