I wish our football enthusiasm counted for something!

The Miami Hurricanes lost to Maryland last night, despite our screams and super-awesome touchdown victory dance.  And thus, another season of torture begins.  How is your college team doing so far?

I expected to find the Husband crying in a corner this morning, but he was busy in the kitchen, making breakfast.  He might still be in shock.  I should watch for signs of an emotional breakdown later today…

Toast, eggs over easy, blueberries, and half a banana:

All things football aside, I have a feeling today is going to be a good day.  Just something in the air…

Can’t believe Maryland won with those egregious uniforms!! Yuck!! Haha

    • Lisa September 6, 2011, 10:22 am

I like the uniforms but I’m a Maryland girl! 🙂

    • Jess September 6, 2011, 12:17 pm

I’m Lisa!!! Our new uniforms are ammmazinnggg!!! Go Terps!

      • Jess September 6, 2011, 12:17 pm

That should obviously be I’m with Lisa!

        • Caitlin September 6, 2011, 12:33 pm

Hah I also thought the uniforms were cool!

      • Jen September 7, 2011, 12:26 am

Hahahaha…I totally thought that Jess was being a smarta** until I saw the correction! 🙂 My team (Kentucky Wildcats) actually pulled out a win – barely – but REALLY (how can I say this nicely?) need improvement! I say this with nothing but love… GO CATS!!!

    • Alexis September 6, 2011, 3:46 pm

Looove our new uniforms! Go Terps!!!:)

  • Alex @ Raw Recovery September 6, 2011, 9:37 am

For some reason that breakfast looks especially delicious to me. I’m sad that I’m not going to be able to buy berries as often in the fall but at least there are pumpkins and cranberries to look forward to! And hot cider, hot chocolate…I guess fall won’t be all that bad 🙂 It’s just always hard to see summers go.

  • allpointswhole September 6, 2011, 9:39 am

    It’s a beautiful day!

  • Kate (What Kate is Cooking) September 6, 2011, 9:42 am

I know absolutely nothing about sports! Sorry your team lost though. Hopefully your husband doesn’t break down today 🙂

  • Emily G. September 6, 2011, 9:48 am

My team (LSU!!) did amazingly 🙂 Kicked Oregon’s butt! And people doubted Garrett Lee! Shame on them!

That dance is hysterical! Would love to see it as a video! lol

  • Maryea {Happy Healthy Mama} September 6, 2011, 10:00 am

Aww sorry your team didn’t win. Love the touchdown dance though!

  • Shaya (Eye Girl Eats) September 6, 2011, 10:04 am

How does Kristien feel about soccer? I thought most proper Englishmen would disdain American football 😉

Did he go to college in the states?

    • Caitlin September 6, 2011, 12:35 pm

HE HEARTS COLLEGE FOOTBALL. 🙂 And yes, he went to UM and PITT.

      • Whitney September 6, 2011, 3:38 pm

Does he have a favorite EPL team? My husband is obsessed with Manchester United!

        • CaitlinHTP September 6, 2011, 3:54 pm

          He loves Manchester, too!

  • Sarena (The Non Dairy Queen) September 6, 2011, 10:06 am

It feels good to wake up feeling that way. I feel it too! Maybe it’s true since we both feel it. I hope you have a great one Caitlin!

  • Chloe (In Fine Feather) September 6, 2011, 10:06 am

The Ducks lost to LSU (boo!) but I think we’ll still have a pretty good run! I love college football so much.

  • Heather @ Better With Veggies September 6, 2011, 10:07 am

Our football cheering (even in person!) this weekend didn’t work either – how come that never seems to be enough?! I was the short girl at the stadium standing on the seat to see over heads in front of me – annoying those behind me (I’m sure).

  • Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife September 6, 2011, 10:11 am

My college team BEAT OleMiss. WOOT! They came back in the 4th quarter–exciting stuff! Go BYU Cougars!

Sorry about your loss, but your beautiful b-fast prob makes up for it! And yes, it is GOING to be a GREAT DAY!! 🙂

  • jamie @ cueyourlife September 6, 2011, 10:12 am

Oh! It’s so sad! 🙁 Our Rebels (UNLV) have a better shot at winning a baking contest than a football game…but we still love them! Just wait until B-ball season..then it’s game ON!
    Happy Tuesday!

  • biscuit September 6, 2011, 10:13 am

Ha, my team IS Maryland! BUUUuuuut, I could give 2 owl craps about football. I just wanted to say hi, just found your blog, and love it.

    • Jen September 7, 2011, 12:31 am

      Hahaha…”owl craps”. Awesome. 🙂

  • kathleen @ the daily crumb September 6, 2011, 10:13 am

well, at least miami wasn’t wearing those ridiculous maryland uniforms!! heartbreaking when your college team loses, though 🙁

looks like a delicious breakfast to start the week off!

  • Ash @ Good Taste Healthy Me September 6, 2011, 10:17 am

hahah love the enthusiasm! hope it works next time!

  • Samantha @ Bikini Birthday September 6, 2011, 10:17 am

I love how excited people get about college football!

It seems like most people cheer on their alma mater. Were you a Miami fan before you moved away for university?

  • Sami September 6, 2011, 10:17 am

you & the hubs are so cute. yeah, miami may not have won, but you two certainly have 😉

    xo.

  • Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat September 6, 2011, 10:23 am

I’m not really a big football fan, but I like watching people get excited about it! Have a great day Caitlin!

  • Emily September 6, 2011, 10:24 am

Sorry about the Miami loss…I am only an NFL girl so I’ll have to wait until next week. Pass on some of that good day feeling to me, the rain has totally got me feeling super sluggish!

  • Kristin September 6, 2011, 10:27 am

I am sorry about the Canes losing last night and about the ominous looking season ahead of you. I am an Oklahoma girl….Go Sooners and I LOVE college football! Nothing worse than watching your team be defeated.

I find it cool that your husband loves football although he is English. There probably a lot of them out there.

    • Caitlin September 6, 2011, 12:43 pm

      🙂 Thanks, Kristin!

    • Marissa C September 6, 2011, 1:39 pm

Another OU girl here…BOOMER SOONER! Season is looking good so far!

  • Angela @ MyPinkyToes September 6, 2011, 10:30 am

This is hilarious because it reminds me of my family on Sundays! …and I typically can gauge my husbands mood on whether or not the Kansas City Chiefs won!

  • Joanne September 6, 2011, 10:30 am

I can’t wait – Pro ball starts Thursday.
Since Syracuse has such a bad team (maybe they’ll be better this year (hoping)), I’m not too much into college ball until the playoffs.

  • Chelsea September 6, 2011, 10:41 am

Hahah I’m not a football girl at all and neither is my boy-friend. You guys little victory dance is adorable to the max though =D

  • Katie September 6, 2011, 10:43 am

You guys are funny! My team, UCF Knights (GO KNIGHTS!), did awesome! We’re expected to have a great football season. My best friend is a Canes fan – I think he woke up crying this morning, poor thing.

  • Jen September 6, 2011, 10:43 am

You guys are so cute! I think we need to see a video of the dance next time.

  • Sarah September 6, 2011, 10:52 am

Touch down dance, love it!! I love all those little things that people develop over the years of marriage/dating!

  • Khushboo September 6, 2011, 10:55 am

If this is how the hubby acts when his team loses, here’s to many more defeats ;)!

  • Cait @ Beyond Bananas September 6, 2011, 11:08 am

YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING!! I love your cheers and kicks and hand shakes. Too cute!

  • Meaghan (My Spoonful Of Inspiration) September 6, 2011, 11:09 am

I love your blueberry and banana breakfasts! It looks so fresh and delicious! 🙂

  • Liz September 6, 2011, 11:11 am

Both my teams won over the weekend! (Ohio State & Michigan State)

  • Kathryn September 6, 2011, 11:13 am

Love my Gamecocks- going to an SEC school, it’s almost impossible to not be a huge college football fan!

  • Lindsay@ In Sweetness and In Health September 6, 2011, 11:18 am

Hopefully today will be a good day! It’s my first day back for grad school…blahh. Your breakfast looks awesome!

  • Katie @ Peace Love and Oats September 6, 2011, 11:19 am

I hope today is a good day! And my college football team ROCKS! M I Z – Z O U! Goooooo TIGERS!!! Technically I didn’t go to school there, but most of my family did. My college didn’t have a football team… lame.

  • Laura September 6, 2011, 11:24 am

Oregon State will probably not do well, but most importantly Oregon lost!

I love my ducks… served on a bed of rice.

  • Katie September 6, 2011, 11:27 am

My team is Ohio State….we won this weekend, of course 🙂 I was wondering what your hubby thought of all of the drama surrounding the U…..it seems like all of the universities are having some sort of “fall out”, and Ohio State was at the start of it all! LOL

  • deva (voracious vorilee) September 6, 2011, 11:35 am

my alma mater won their first game (away) this weekend, and then Maryland won as well (I am a Maryland and Ohio U Bobcats girl). It was nailbiting at the end of the game, though!

  • Julie (A Case of the Runs) September 6, 2011, 11:36 am

Hmm, something in the air?! That usually means you *know* something??

    • Marijke September 6, 2011, 11:40 am

      I have this suspicion too!

    • Caitlin September 6, 2011, 12:44 pm

Is this a thinly veiled “are you pregnant?” comment LOL I am not pregnant! I promise. I will not be able to keep that secret and will start dropping heavy handed hints like “Let’s put some cinnamon buns in an oven.”

      • Julie (A Case of the Runs) September 6, 2011, 12:48 pm

Actually, didn’t think that at all (because I KNOW you would have dropped a heavier hint than that, LOL!).

Had a few guesses of other things it could be, or maybe since I’m kind of in a rotten mood, I can’t just take a “it’s gonna be a good day” hunch as just a hunch.

  • Ashley September 6, 2011, 11:44 am

I’m definitely not ready for my husband’s emotional highs and lows that come with football season. Blah!

  • Cassie @ Back to Her Roots September 6, 2011, 11:45 am

My college football team le sucks. And has forever. Which is kinda unbelievable considering we are in the Big Ten, which is one of the best football conferences in the country.

    • Anne September 6, 2011, 11:56 am

I stalked your blog. Yeah, IU ain’t so hot at the football. And has been down in basketball recently, too. I went to Purdue. BOILER UP!

      • Cassie @ Back to Her Roots September 6, 2011, 11:59 am

As far as basketball…it’s a rebuilding year decade. And I’m okay with Purdue, just as long as you aren’t a Kentucky fan, we’ll get along just fine. 🙂

        • Anne September 6, 2011, 1:35 pm

Oh, those Wildcats! I’m not supposed to hate IU, since my cousins went there and my grandparents met there. But it does feel good when we beat you guys.

  • Emily September 6, 2011, 11:52 am

    Caitlin!
This has absolutely nothing to do with this particular post, but today I got a coaching position with Girls on the Run! I didn’t even know it existed until reading your blog, so I just wanted to say thank you :o)

    • Caitlin September 6, 2011, 12:44 pm

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS i am so excited for you!

  • Anne September 6, 2011, 11:57 am

I thought about you last night as we cheered on Maryland to victory. I just can’t bring myself to cheer for Miami. Maybe it’s because my dad went to Miami University (you know, the one in Ohio). It was a tough loss. Great game, though!

  • Kelly September 6, 2011, 12:00 pm

Oh I hope today is a good day. The past 24 hours have tested my strength. Central Texas is burning to the ground and it is the scariest thing I have gone through to date. I am trying to be normal and stay postive….

  • Jess@atasteofconfidence September 6, 2011, 12:10 pm

My team (U of M) won their first game. I go to a smallish school, so I am all for where my bro went to law school. GO BLUE!

  • Kelly September 6, 2011, 12:26 pm

Today is a good day. Maryland won… 🙂

  • Aine @ Something to Chew Over September 6, 2011, 12:26 pm

We definitely need to see a video of this victory dance 🙂

  • sarah@spinach and spice September 6, 2011, 12:36 pm

I’m so glad football is back! Your dancing pictures are making me laugh 😀

  • My Blonde Moments September 6, 2011, 1:09 pm

My Buckeyes won this weekend!!! Should be interesting to see how the UM v. OSU game goes in a couple of weeks 😉

  • Holly @ The Runny Egg September 6, 2011, 1:22 pm

Yes today has been a good day so far!

  • katie @ KatieDid September 6, 2011, 1:24 pm

    Love your dance/handshake (?)! hahah.
Hope today IS good for you!

  • Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed September 6, 2011, 1:29 pm

I’m a Penn State girl, they had an easy game this weekend though, we won’t know how good they really are until next weekend when they play Alabama. Hopefully they won’t get creamed haha. My boyfriend and I are in an NFL fantasy football league together and we like rival teams, so it makes it interesting this time of year!

  • Sara @ OurDogBuffy September 6, 2011, 1:32 pm

Husband’s Hokies did well on Saturday. We’re actually going to see them vs. Miami in October as his bday gift. Sorry that I can’t root on Miami. Might be grounds for a divorce.

  • Coco September 6, 2011, 1:43 pm

    GO TERPS!

  • Rosa - Fitness, Food, Fulfilled September 6, 2011, 1:56 pm

Awesome victory dance! I expected a chest bump at the end. 🙂

Today will be a good day. It’s a short week after all!

  • Amber K September 6, 2011, 2:05 pm

From my facebook wall apparently the Oregon teams have not done well. My poor state! 😉

  • colleen September 6, 2011, 2:21 pm

Love your dance! Couldn’t get the hubby to something like it – he would look at me as if I was nuts – like most days 🙂 We love college football – just tired of all changes in the rules and the push to make it like the pros (aka all about the money). This week is a good one – only 4 days of work.

  • Heather Montgomery September 6, 2011, 2:21 pm

Love the dance! My team, LSU is doing awesome, beat Oregon this weekend! Geaux tigers!

  • Hillary September 6, 2011, 2:35 pm

You guys are straight up adorable. I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who has a “secret handshake” with my significant other.

  • April September 6, 2011, 3:20 pm

Went to Maryland and am still a huge fan, but you guys definitely win for enthusiasm..I Love It!

  • Alexis September 6, 2011, 3:50 pm

College football time is almost like Christmas! And I have recently moved to Hawaii, so it’s even more like Christmas because I have to wake up at 5am to watch a lot of games:) I went to Maryland for undergrad and Auburn for grad school. Both teams won this weekend (Sorry! Although trust me, us Maryland fans are used to disappointing seasons!), but Auburn nearly gave me a heart attack with their game! Absolute craziness, winning by 2 touchdowns in the last 3 minutes!

  • Becky @ Fit Chick on the Fly September 6, 2011, 4:09 pm

Marylands uni’s were crazy looking – I didn’t care for them (maybe cause I’m a Canes fan). I hoping the only reason we lost was because of the missing players due to the suspention. At least for now we can blame it on that 🙂

  • Brooke @ Tales of a Bride-To-Be September 6, 2011, 5:04 pm

Clemson won on Saturday, so far so good for my Tigers! Other important team in our household is Georgia, and sadly Boise State dominated that game Saturday night. But Clemson will hopefully (fingers crossed) have a great season like they do every year!

  • Lesley September 6, 2011, 6:56 pm

LOL @ “I should watch for signs of an emotional breakdown later today…” & I love your (no so much) victory dance! At least they scored I guess. So depressing to root for a team that loses with a zero! My grandfather taught at MD state, so I’m actually a little happy they won even though I like the Hurricanes more!

  • Kristin September 6, 2011, 10:16 pm

My fav team and college home 🙂 is USF and we kicked Notre Dames butt in a 6.5 hour game!! haha 🙂 We play Miami this year in November!!! Ahhh!

  • Suzanne September 7, 2011, 1:37 am

I love this post! We were in Auburn for the game this past weekend and it was ugly but we pulled out a win at the last minute. Not sure what to expect this weekend…

We are doing 5 Days of Giveaways on our blog this week if you or any of your readers want to stop by!

  • Sophie @ threetimesf September 7, 2011, 3:56 am

    You guys are super cute!
