Stabilize Me!

in All Posts

After all that sugar late last night, I wanted a stabilizing breakfast.

Spelt toast with an egg… The Husband recently bought a loaf of spelt bread and I really love it.  It has an interesting texture!

And 1/2 a banana with a bunch of cherries.

GOTR $10,000 Prize Update

On Sunday, the Husband and I are traveling from Charlotte to Hagerstown, Maryland for the Amway Positivity Awards.  If I get selected as the winner, I get $10,000 to donate to Girls on the Run.  Regardless, I get $2,500 to donate to GOTR.  Pretty cool, huh?

Random side note:  The winners are going to be announced during John Tesh’s Christmas concert. I love John Tesh’s radio show and am super excited to meet him!

The prize is based entirely on public votes so I’m hoping the blogosphere really came together for GOTR.  Keep your fingers crossed! 🙂

I have my fingers and crossed for you sweetie xxx

  • Cyndi @ Weightless Life December 10, 2010, 8:33 am

Good luck! It’s so wonderful that you’re donating that money to GOTR. I’m also jealous of your tasty looking breakfast. I woke up late, so I only had time for toast this morning. 🙁

  • Baking 'n' Books December 10, 2010, 8:33 am

Wow – even $2500 is a ridiculous amount of money! Good for you and GOTR! Great early Christmas gift 🙂

  • Alina December 10, 2010, 8:39 am

John Tesh? He does a radio show in my city, and my mom loves him! We always listen to him in the evenings driving back from things . . . He’s the one that does the informative radio things, right? He’s great!

    • Caitlin December 10, 2010, 9:12 am

Yes, life lessons or something? I like him. He’s kind of like Delilah.

      • Natalia - a side of simple December 10, 2010, 12:33 pm

I get all my interesting/”did you know” facts from John Tesh! That’s so cool you get to meet him! He’s totally the male version of Delilah 🙂

  • Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat December 10, 2010, 8:42 am

Ooh GOOD LUCK Caitlin!! That would be so so exciting if Operation Beautiful wins – I think you stand a very good chance and the girls would love you for it (although I’m sure they already do!!)

  • Stacy @ Every Little Thing December 10, 2010, 8:44 am

Good luck! GOTR could do some fabulous things with $10,000 (or $2,500!).

  • Holly @ couchpotatoathlete December 10, 2010, 8:49 am

John Tesh! There was a comedian who used to make fun of him — I think it was Conan or Jay Leno but I might be wrong. Either way, it is funny to see his name.

Good luck on winning the $10K! I’m sure GOTR would put it to good use.

  • Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun December 10, 2010, 8:50 am

Good luck! I know I voted for you. How amazing that money will go towards GOTR no matter what.

  • grocery goddess jen December 10, 2010, 8:52 am

How exciting! I used to think John Tesh was a total dweeb, but I love catching his radio show now. Good luck!

  • Brittany (A Healthy Slice of Life) December 10, 2010, 8:52 am

ps. I love John Tesh too! 🙂

  • Mary @ Bites and Bliss December 10, 2010, 9:10 am

Definitely looks like a stabalizing breakfast- perfect way to get back on track. 🙂

  • Michele @ Healthy Cultivations December 10, 2010, 9:13 am

    Fingers crossed!!!

And I love how you talk about stabilizing foods. I always find that carrots and sweet potatoes are very stabilizing… only I usually call them grounding and calming. I think it’s because they’re root vegetables… thriving in the peaceful, calm darkness of the soil.

  • Ali December 10, 2010, 9:14 am

I’ve never heard of spelt bread–interesting! Congrats on even getting $2,500 for GOTR! What an accomplishment, good luck on the prize though 🙂

  • Amanda (Eating Up) December 10, 2010, 9:20 am

Ahhh I’ll cross my fingers and toes for you and GOTR! Either way, I suppose some great organization will get the money which is always something to celebrate!

  • Alison December 10, 2010, 9:37 am

I literally just started reading your blog yesterday and I got so roped in! I already read through a bunch of posts last night. You are such an inspiration. When I checked back this morning I was so shocked to see that you’re coming to Hagerstown because that’s where I live! How long are you going to be here? If you have free time I’d love to chat :o)

    • Caitlin December 10, 2010, 9:39 am

      Cool!! Thanks for reading 😉

Unfortunately, Amway has us roped into constant events for PR purposes so I won’t have any free time. Wahh.

      • Alison December 10, 2010, 9:45 am

Boo. Well it is awesome that you are coming here because no one ever comes here. Anyway, bring gloves and warm clothes and stuff because it is FREEZING here! I almost froze my buns off on my way into the courthouse today (I’m a lawyer, not a criminal lol). Hope you have a great trip!

    • Allison B December 10, 2010, 10:18 am

      Alison –
I hear ya – no one ever comes to MD!
I love Western MD (the husband went to Frostburg) and we try to get up there once a year!
Sidebar – We live in SoMD and when I saw the HTP post about a month or so ago with a snapshot of people in the running for Positivity Awards I was shocked to see someone from Hollywood, MD…that’s next door to me!
(It’s the We Did It post, just looked for it).
      Congrats and good luck Caitlin!

I think it’s hilarious what a big John Tesh fan you are! I just have to call you out on being a grandma (affectionately, of course!) And congrats on all the great work you’ve done for GOTR- it’s wonderful to think of how many girls you’ll impact.

  • Jess@atasteofconfidence December 10, 2010, 1:15 pm

Good luck! Either way, it’s a great accomplishment!

  • Michelle December 10, 2010, 1:19 pm

Good luck! You are deserving of all of the wonderful recognition and like Jess@atatasteofconfidence says, either way, it’s a great accomplishment.

You know what could be one step above eggs on toast? Egg in the holes! I’ve been thinking of using an x-mas tree cookie cutter for my next batch. How cute/festive would that be? You could even smear some pesto on top and a few chopped red peppers and really get in the spirit. Yeah, I’m a nerd.

  • Mauimandy@The Grains of Paradise December 10, 2010, 1:49 pm

    Best of luck!!
Your breakie looks simply delish! ( And I don’t even eat eggs lol )
    Aloha:)

  • Sara December 10, 2010, 1:58 pm

  • Laurie December 10, 2010, 5:13 pm

Hagerstown is a little near me. Wave as you drive through Northern Virginia.
AND…last night, I had brown rice, zucchini and tofu and thought it needed a little something, SO I did a Caitlin and put Bar-B-Que sauce on it, YUM!

  • Wawa December 10, 2010, 8:11 pm

Congrats! I have my fingers crossed for you.

  • Sana December 11, 2010, 1:11 am
