“That Looks GOOD!”

in All Posts

I got my workout mojo back by tackling 18.0 miles with Megan this morning.

It was really windy on the way out, but the breeze was coming from behind us on the way back… which is always nice!  :)  I rode the 18.0 miles in 1:20.

Guess what?  The sole fell off my shoe during the ride!  It started to peel off right away, and by Mile 5.0, it detached completely when I unclipped at a stop sign.

Luckily, that part of the shoe has no impact on my ability to clip in or out, so I just stuffed it in my jersey.  Think super glue will work for the repair?

Came home and tried something NEW to fuel back up:

Cheribundi is a new cherry juice with added whey protein (sent to me to sample).  The little container had less than 200 calories and 8 grams of protein.  I’m not a *huge* fan of whey protein in my own smoothies, but I was interested to try it in a pre-made juice.  I really liked it!  It was tart but smooth.  And VERY refreshing!

After I showered, I made lunch.  The Husband just walked by and commented, “THAT LOOKS GOOD!!”  And you know what?  It was an exceptional wrap!

IMG_4217

It was simple, too – I made the Bean and Olive Dip and added stir-fried canned artichokes

Plus carrots:

I am really itching to get out of the house, but I have a list of To Do’s.  One items is securing the hotel for the Healthy Living Summit.  Tickets will be on sale in a few weeks!  Stay tuned for more info.  I promise it’s coming.  🙂

And… I’m off!

wraps are the best meals ever. Yours does look mighty good.

  • Run Sarah May 2, 2010, 12:57 pm

Awesome job on the ride! That wrap looks glorious – after seeing your artichokes I had to buy a Costco sized container and have been loving them in wraps and salads.

  • lauren @ Eater not a runner May 2, 2010, 12:57 pm

That DOES look good! Great ride, and I think super glue fixes everything!!

  • Lisa May 2, 2010, 12:58 pm

YIKES! Sorry your shoes broke. Looks like a nice bike ride though.

  • Diana May 2, 2010, 12:59 pm

All this talk about bike riding makes me wanna, well, ride a bike! 😀
I’ve never tried artichokes but that’s a good looking wrap. :p

  • Beth @ Beth's Journey to Thin May 2, 2010, 1:00 pm

Ohh that wrap does look delicious. I’m impressed you have to do lists even on Sundays!

  • Stephanie May 2, 2010, 1:05 pm

I’m glad you got your workout mojo back! Your meals always look so good and it helps me find different things to eat now that I’ve become a vegetarian.

  • Diana @ frontyardfoodie May 2, 2010, 1:07 pm

I’m itching to get out there too! I gotta plant in my garden since the sun is out!!!

  • Angela (ohsheglows) May 2, 2010, 1:08 pm

I don’t know why but I love how BIG you wrote on your pad of paper. Like you mean business. It also reminded me of those phone’s with the huge numbers. Ive always wanted one, is that weird?

  • Maria May 2, 2010, 1:10 pm

wow that wrap looks amazing! I thought it was from a restaurant at first glance. Are those potatoes?

  • Lindsey (cardio pizza) May 2, 2010, 1:11 pm

    nice ride!

That wrap looks awesome, way to use canned artichokes…I’ll definitely be trying that sometime! 🙂

  • Rita @ The Giggly Bits May 2, 2010, 1:18 pm

I never thought of using the canned artichokes either, looked wicked good! Love the sole pick, priceless.

Super glue should do the trick! Otherwise, check out the Pearl Izumi outlet in Orlando, they have cycle shoes on the cheap!

  • Freya @ Brit Chick Runs May 2, 2010, 1:39 pm

LOL when I first read that you did 18miles, I thought you meant running! I was like ‘eh!? Megan has only just started again!?’ Congrats anyway!!

  • Claire May 2, 2010, 2:38 pm

Sounds like a fun ride, but your poor soles of your shoes! I agree with the husband, wrap looks tasty!

Can’t wait to hear where the HLS will be, I want to go this year because I will be so close!

  • Rika May 2, 2010, 2:39 pm

mm i have a feeling super glue won’t work! in my past experience, rubber doesn’t stick well with super glue :S super glues more for hard plastic! …but it doesn’t hurt to try!

  • runnerforever May 2, 2010, 2:40 pm

That wrap sure does look good! I loved reading your last post. With the crazy weather here I have been needing ways to get me out the door!

  • Paige (RAN) May 2, 2010, 2:53 pm

That wrap DOES look good. Your to-do list looks similar to mine 🙂

  • Cyclist Kate May 2, 2010, 2:55 pm

E-mail Shimano and I bet they’ll get you a new pair of shoes or, at the very least, repair yours. They tend to have pretty good customer service and want to keep their people happy!

  • Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter May 2, 2010, 2:55 pm

I’m excited about hearing about the Healthy Living Summit again 🙂

  • emptynutjar May 2, 2010, 3:15 pm

    Your wrap looks good.
Caitlin, do you ever read blogs yourself? New ones? Do you peek into new ones to explore, etc? Or just old favorites? Or do you not do the commenting/reading thing?

Just wondering because you seem quite busy all the time. Also curious, whenever I see the more famous bloggers (if you will!) blog, I just wonder whether they actually read/comment anymore either like they might have done when starting out.

    • caitlin May 2, 2010, 4:28 pm

yup. i have 44 blogs in my google reader and i read those all regularly. i also click on people who comment on my blog and other blogs and check them out to discover new favs.

reading blogs is just as important as writing one!

  • Jenn (www.j3nn.net) May 2, 2010, 3:25 pm

That wrap DOES look exceptional. MAJOR yum! 🙂

    Jenn

  • Sean (Learn Fitness) May 2, 2010, 3:34 pm

I want that wrap now instead of what I had for lunch. Nice ride, the wind is always killer but at least most rides it’s going with you at some point. For my ride yesterday it was the hills that messed with my legs.

I can’t wait to hear more about the healthy living summit, any ideas when registration opens? I should be very very close to my first goal weight then being down like 190 pounds 🙂

  • Tina May 2, 2010, 3:44 pm

I can really relate to wanting to get back to workouts for the pure joy of them instead of something you have to do. I love just working out for my enjoyment now. I’m glad you got your mojo back quickly. I had no doubt you would though. 🙂

  • Erin (Travel, Eat, Repeat) May 2, 2010, 3:47 pm

I love that post-workout accomplished feeling. I had a run planned but got hit with some food poisoning (I think) yesterday–running in the heat did NOT sound like fun!

  • Christina May 2, 2010, 4:02 pm

I’ve never had cherry juice. It sounds good!

  • kate May 2, 2010, 4:15 pm

Hooray for your workout mojo coming back! Im heading out for a bike ride pretty soon. I cant wait for tickets to go on sale for the HLS! I was telling Tina that if you guys cant find a hotel we can have a blogger camp out in my yard. Its only 3 hours from Chi-town 🙂

  • Kelly May 2, 2010, 4:18 pm

Hehe cute socks. ANd glad you’re feeling better and up to working out.

  • Amber K @ sparkpeople May 2, 2010, 4:24 pm

Why is it always whey protein that’s added to things? My body can not digest it! I wish it did though, because whey protein added to smoothies tastes so good!

  • Hedda May 2, 2010, 4:34 pm

I want you to be my wrap-maker.
Or, I want to marry a man who can make me wraps like that. I am convinced that would be a great fundament for a healthy and satisfying relationship.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, and btw : good to see that it is not only my dog who gets chips now and then 🙂

  • Jenny May 2, 2010, 5:14 pm

Hope you get that to-do list checked off!

  • Jolene (www.everydayfoodie.ca) May 2, 2010, 5:39 pm

    That wrap looks so good!!!

  • Lisa (bakebikeblog) May 2, 2010, 6:12 pm

oh no – I can’t believe that happened to your shoe!!! Strange huh?!

  • Gracie @ Girl Meets Health May 2, 2010, 6:12 pm

This is really random, but I love that you use the word “Mojo.” A good friend of mine passed away last year, and that’s what we all called him. I love getting little reminders of him when that word is used 🙂

  • kalli@fitandfortysomething May 2, 2010, 6:29 pm

    great ride!

  • Sarah May 2, 2010, 6:44 pm

    That wrap does look good!

  • Heather (runningwithsass.com) May 2, 2010, 6:44 pm

good job on the bike ride! that juice does look good!

  • Amanda Beerbohm May 2, 2010, 6:54 pm

I just wanted to let you know that my cousin Logan and I completed our first 13 marathon by far the longest run I have ever done!!! We werent running for time merely to finsh! Which i am so proud of us both for doing Logans time was 2 hours 10min mine was 2 hours 15 min! but i had i stop and walk a lil it was definitely taxing on my legs but after crossing the finsh point back at the Nebraska Husker football stadium it made all the pain and sweat totally and completely worth it!!! Its an amazing feeling of accomplishment!

    • caitlin May 2, 2010, 10:29 pm

AWESOME!!! I am so proud of you both 🙂 🙂 🙂

  • Jessica @ The Process of Healing May 2, 2010, 7:02 pm

Sounds like a great bike ride and an awesome lunch!!

  • Megan @ The Oatmeal Diaries May 2, 2010, 9:09 pm

Your wrap really does look exceptional! 🙂

  • Alycia @ FitnFresh May 2, 2010, 9:32 pm

i TOTALLY want to go to this healthy living summit! i can’t wait for tickets to go on sale! thanks for the information (:

ps – that wrap really does look delicious mmm

  • John May 2, 2010, 9:59 pm

Fortunate the clip in part was not affected. Would have made the trip more difficult. That drink sounds interesting….they can send me some 🙂

  • Jess May 2, 2010, 10:12 pm

Oh man. I laughed at the soles coming off. Ah well, who needs soles anyway?! Question. What kind of bike do you have? I’m looking into getting a road bike myself to start training for a triathlon. What kind do you have? What do you recommend? All that jazz 🙂 Thanks for any info!

  • eatingRD May 2, 2010, 11:40 pm

Nice ride, yay!! I need to find a biking partner because I am such a group fitness person. Having a great friend always gets me motivated. oh no, poor shoe! I’ve been interested in trying tart cherry juice after seeing some studies showing significant reduction in exercise-induced muscle pain.

  • Courtney (Pancakes & Postcards) May 3, 2010, 2:31 am

That does look delicious. Amazing about your shoe! Talk about feeling like a bad ass. “oh yeah, I worked out so hard that my shoe fell apart. no big.”

  • Amanda (Amanda "runs") May 3, 2010, 7:20 am

Amazing shoe. If not super glue, duct tape. I love your lunches recently!!

  • Raya @ Raya Runs May 3, 2010, 11:07 am

Yum! I just bought a giant jar of artichokes in water from Sam’s yesterday, can’t wait to use them! Also, I’m so bummed I can’t make it to the Healthy Living Summit, I really wanted to go since I couldn’t go last year either! But alas I believe it’s the same weekend as my BFF’s wedding weekend and I am the maid of honor. Maybe next year? (:

  • Ilana May 3, 2010, 11:10 am

Bahhh why is EVERY blogger biking these days? I keep meaning to take my bike out for a spin and every time I read another blog, there’s a reminder that I haven’t done it 🙂 Well, no time like the present!

Amazing about the shoe! I do hope superglue works, although it’s not so expensive to take it to a shoe repair shop.

  • Wei-Wei May 3, 2010, 2:19 pm

That looks GREAT! 😀 That’s so weird about the shoe… Superglue would help, I guess? Maybe it’s the heat that’s making the glue melt and fall off. 🙁

    Have a great afternoon! 😀

    Wei-Wei
