Mommy and Jamesy Time

in All Posts

I spent some quality time with my favorite fur-son this morning. 🙂

James came with me as I ran some errands, and then we drove to downtown Orlando so I could pick up some farmers’ market veggies and do some work.  Maggie stayed at home because she’s 1) bad with crowds; 2) crazy; and 3) lazy.

I was really, really hungry by the time we got to the Farmers’ Market, so I bought a Egg and Veggie Crepe.  Standing in line with James was fun because there was a male German Shepherd in front of us and he looked SO HUGE next to tiny James.  Its funny, but I don’t realize how small my dogs are until they are next to big ones.

The Egg and Veggie Crepe was stuffed with a hard boiled egg, cheddar cheese, spinach, mushrooms, onions, and peppers.  I’m always tempted by the “sweet” crepes, but after two bites of butter-sugar-Nutella-banana, I want to go into a sugar fit and die.

Mmm!  I ate about 2/3.

We sat in the grass for a while and I got a lot of work for the Operation Beautiful book done.  I’m currently experiencing writer’s block in general, so this was a GOOD thing!

James just hung out with me and stared at the other doggies.  He’s so good.

Time to head to the grocery store to pick up a few items that the farmers’ market didn’t have, and then I’m going to EXERCISE! Yay!

Do you like to spend time with other people or alone?  I really like to hang out with my friends and the Husband, but there is something so amazing about being solo.  I love it.

Sometimes I just feel like I need solo-time to get my sanity back. Usually the bf and I are good about giving each other space when we both need it. It can be refreshing to spend some time with yourself, I find it makes me a better partner in the long run.
James is to cute – I love his short little legs and long tail.

I’m with you on that one. I love my friends and family, but sometimes I need to be by myself to sort things out and organize your ideas. And a sunny morning in the park is a great idea to do that.

  • VeggieGirl November 1, 2009, 1:57 pm

Cute photo of you and James 🙂

    I NEED my “me time.”

  • Evan Thomas November 1, 2009, 1:57 pm

I think alone time is always welcomed, especially being a college student in a tiny dorm

  • Cynthia (It All Changes) November 1, 2009, 1:58 pm

LOL! You’re list describes both of our dogs so they don’t normally go out near people with us.

I like both alone and people time. It depends on the day. Somedays I’ve just had too much of people and I wander around Target by myself. Other days I beg Hunni to go to the gym with me 🙂

  • Diana November 1, 2009, 1:59 pm

I definitely need my alone time. I’ve always been like this. 🙂

Glad you had a good time with James! 🙂

  • Mama Pea November 1, 2009, 2:00 pm

Technically I think you had “James time” today 🙂 I really like getting time to myself though it is so extremely rare these days…like the only time I’m alone is when I take a shower, and you know how rare that is.

  • Allison November 1, 2009, 2:00 pm

I cherish my alone time! Of course I like to be with my friends, but I need some alone time every day or else I’d go crazy.

  • Jenna November 1, 2009, 2:01 pm

that crepe looks delish! i love spending time with others but spending time alone it always nice 🙂

I like spending some time with myself to, with my thoughts, just doing nothing, or what I feel like.

  • Steph November 1, 2009, 2:17 pm

How cute that your puppy and you get “alone time.” Way to go with the writing!!

  • Julie November 1, 2009, 2:18 pm

I enjoy my alone time too. It’s nice to be alone with my thoughts (I have them sometimes 😉 ). Seriously though, I really like peace and quite and cherish every moment of it I can get.

I also love my alone time. My husband travels alot and while I miss him like crazy, I enjoy being able to spend some solo time.

  • Joelle (The Pancake Girl) November 1, 2009, 2:24 pm

That crepe sounds delish.. Next to my grad school, there’s this little old man who has a crepe cart and makes crepes on the street..I’m actually dying to try them, despite the whole “on the streets of NY” thing.

  • Madeline @ GreensAndJeans November 1, 2009, 2:36 pm

Your crepe looks awesome! I am definitely all about my “me” time. For me, this is usually my running time and Gossip Girl night…

  • Bernadette November 1, 2009, 2:49 pm

I forget how much I like to be alone until I’m actually ALONE…then it’s like a big breath of fresh air! Ahhhhh
Something about the serenity of it, it just recharges me.

    Have a wonderful Sunday!
    xoxo

You are so lucky that you still have farmers markets to go to! All ours are closed for business in NH 🙁

  • Lauren November 1, 2009, 3:06 pm

I think it depends on my mood. Your farmers markets look so amazing all the time. wish we had that up north. I guess it has a lot to do with the weather too.

  • Sana November 1, 2009, 3:12 pm

I love your James as well as my own ( he is a human) lol! He is the only person that I love being with 24/7 everyone else gets on me a bit!

  • Tasha - The Clean Eating Mama November 1, 2009, 3:21 pm

I am an introvert – being alone helps me get back in tune with the “real” me – I can put away my “hats” and simply be content.

  • Meghan@traveleatlove November 1, 2009, 3:33 pm

I need my alone time. If I don’t get enough, people can definitely tell!

  • Mellissa November 1, 2009, 4:17 pm

I have Monday-Thursday night alone and sometimes I really like it, I get stuff done around the house and can just do my own thing. I actually find myself thinking my husband gets in the way of my routine sometimes 😉

  • Susan November 1, 2009, 4:18 pm

I like just chilling out with people at their places or restaurants, but when it comes to shopping and that kind of stuff, I like to be alone. Although, I reallyreally wish I had a doggie companion sometimes 🙂

  • Jasmine (Sweet and Fit) November 1, 2009, 4:45 pm

    hey there!

I don’t think i could take my dog to a farmer’s market b/c shes also crazy/lazy and FOOD crazy!!!

sometimes I love being alone, but other times I crave social interaction – I think its all about balance =

  • Gab* November 1, 2009, 5:08 pm

I need a balance, I couldn’t be by myself all the time and I couldn’t be with people all the time either. I think it’s normal to want a balance, there’s nothing wrong with a bit of me-love and self reflection!

  • Stacey November 1, 2009, 5:11 pm

hehe 🙂 I’m a lil nervous about taking my Trixie to a dog park because she gets so aggrevated when she’s around hyper small dogs! She starts barking like shes saying “Get away from me!” I love being solo sometimes. It allows me to think and clear my head…yay for the farmers market! Jas and I went yesterday and got a TON of produce for only $10!! Woot woot

  • Kelly November 1, 2009, 5:38 pm

I totally agree with you, some alone time is key!

  • Jolene (www.everydayfoodie.ca) November 1, 2009, 6:04 pm

I like to run errands/ shop etc. alone way more than I like to do those things with people. I like to have equal amounts of alone time and time with people.

  • Amber from Girl with the Red Hair November 1, 2009, 6:26 pm

I LOVE spending time alone and after spending the last 24 hours with friends I am seriously craving some ALONE time!!

  • rebecca November 1, 2009, 6:46 pm

cute blog cool eggs in a crepe like it

  • maria November 1, 2009, 6:49 pm

I’m totally not a loner. I hate being alone. I’d much prefer to be around others.

  • Erin November 1, 2009, 6:53 pm

I totally agree with you on the alone time Caitlin. You aren’t an Aquarius by any chance, are you!? We love our alone time. 🙂

    • caitlin November 1, 2009, 7:06 pm

taurus! but i think its just a woman thing 🙂

  • Heather @ For The Health Of It! November 1, 2009, 6:58 pm

Totally agree…love hangin out w/fam and friends, but I never get sick of my alone time! Luckily, me and the hubs are both fans of alone time, so we get equal amounts of it. lol

  • Katie November 1, 2009, 7:47 pm

I’m aquarious and love to be alone. I get grouchy when put in a group for too long 😉 Especially because it usually entails me eating somewhere I can’t eat and I don’t do well hungry or doing something that isn’t what I like to do. I need to find me some running/fitness/healthy friends and I would probably rather not be alone!

  • Lizzy November 1, 2009, 9:37 pm

i love being with friends and family, but i really do enjoy being by myself and just enjoying the quiet time!

  • SweetiePotato November 1, 2009, 11:03 pm

I agree with your last statement. It’s nice to be around people you love but along time is a must-have for me… Need time to unwind 🙂
