Three Random Things

Here are THREE random things that made me happy today….

ONE:  My new screen saver:

TWO:  This sign (aww):

THREE:  And a ROCKING 4.0 mile run!  I didn’t get home from work until 8:20 PM and I was DETERMINED to get my scheduled run in.  It was pitch black outside and it was sprinkling…. but I didn’t care!

I ran so strong and so fast.  I felt POWERFUL, which is always an excellent feeling.

  • Duration: 36 minutes (including standing at a traffic light!)
  • Distance: 4.0 miles

Most of all, it feels so great to get back on track with my marathon training plan.

Here are my eats!  Afternoon snacks included granola and yogurt:

Melon:

And a HFCS-laden bar.  This was an emergency bar bought on a whim.  Icky.

And dinner was leftover corn casserole with a side salad and OJ:

Must do so many things before bed – ahh! Have a great night!

    -and your run was AMAZING!

What a cute way to propose! I love hearing proposal stories as well as telling mine! It's truly unique!

  • Kristen September 2, 2009, 8:31 pm

    My bucket list would include:
    1. A mini triathalon (I was a swimmer in HS and would love to get back in water. I've been in really good shape on LAND since high school, but the pool is always another story! It's such a great sport!)
    2. Do some serious mountain hiking (a trip or live some place it is possible).
    3. Become certified to teach a group fitness class
    4. Give labor (I'm with you on that, this is definitely a fitness challenge).
    5. Run a marathon, post labor. Because, what could be harder than labor???

Awwww…. the marry me sign is cute. Hope she said yes. Is it just me or is it wedding season right now?

  • Liz September 2, 2009, 10:59 pm

Glad you had a good run. Running at night is actually pretty fun…just as long as you can sorta see where you're stepping. I almost sprained my ankle once! Love the screensaver. That will sure put a smile on your face when that pops up 🙂

  • Nicole September 2, 2009, 11:07 pm

I agree! Those nutrigrain bars are gross!! A while back, airlines were serving them on flights, and I forgot to bring another snack with me. I was starving! It should definitely be reserved for emergency situations! You are so right!

That corn casserole looks so good, still!

  • Jenna September 2, 2009, 11:54 pm

Isn't it great how your body does not like the taste of processed HFCS bars when it's used to real food? I love that I don't really crave that stuff any longer.

  • The Healthy Hostess September 3, 2009, 3:36 am

Quick question: Do you or any of your readers ever worry about running outside alone? Particularly after dark/at sunset? I am a woman and I love to run outside, particularly through heavily-wooded parks (yeah shade!), but with all the stories about female runners getting jumped/assaulted, I get quite nervous. Especially since the days are getting shorter and it's getting darker ealier. I'd appreciate any tips you or your readers might have to share.
