This and That

WOW!  You guys love the WaterPik giveaway, don’t you?  It is a pretty sweet giveaway with an excellent chance to win — so enter now!

Today was a *blah* day.  As mentioned, I worked for a freakishly long  time (and I’m actually still working, just taking a blogging break).  Considering I spent 11+ hours at the computer, my run was none-existent.  But honestly, that’s OK with me.

It’s so important to remember that missing the odd training run (or even a WEEK) is NOT going to "ruin" your training.  Sometimes, it’s just better to rest.  So, I erased the planned 5.0 mile run from my calendar without guilt or worry.

Eats for the day included a breakfast bar around 11 AM:

Lunch was cous cous, beans, sugar snap peas, and a pickle:

Snack was an orange:

Conference calls suck, FYI:

Snack #2 was Stacy’s Pita Chips:

"Dinner" was eaten around 6:30 PM when I realized I was never… ever… getting off work.  I had granola + banana:

Dinner #2 was made by the Husband when he came home from work.  He reheated up 1/2 cup of soup for me and gave me another 1/2 an orange:

Random thoughts:

  • Not nearly enough green in my diet today.  Poor planning, but decent choices overall.
  • We are thinking about booking a Christmas vacation to London.  I am exceedingly excited.  We’ll book in the next few days….
  • The Husband re-proposed to me earlier and asked me to re-marry him in London all over again (it will be our 1-year anniversary).  I said yes!
  • Operation Beautiful has one of the best stories ever on it today.
  • Healthy Tipping Point is being re-designed and transferred to WordPress!  Very exciting… expect to see the new blog design soon.   Sorry if we encounter any hiccups during the process.

Ick, I hate conference calls, too!

  • angieinatlanta September 21, 2009, 6:55 pm

    Aw, hubs sounds so sweet!

And sure, you didn't get that much green but you still made very healthful choices, in my opinion!

  • Jenna September 21, 2009, 7:03 pm

I usually zone out and look at food blogs during conference calls, naughty 🙂 Not ALL the time of course!

No sweat on the run, you deserve a break after a long day.

Yay for London in December, you totally should take a vacation and get away for awhile!

    Have a great evening.

  • BethAnn Caputo September 21, 2009, 7:51 pm

Question for you…are you supposed to take the day off after you have a long run? Since you ran 13.1 miles yesterday does it benefit you to run the five or to take the day off? I always get confused about these things. I'm training for my first 1/2 marathon and generally try to take the day off after my long run…should I be running?

  • BethAnn Caputo September 21, 2009, 7:52 pm

Oh also…keep your head up! I am usually out from 6 a.m.-10 p.m….you're doing a great job of keeping yourself sane! (or so it seems)

  • Steph September 21, 2009, 7:58 pm

If you come to London, maybe you should have a blogger get together for any British readers nearby?! As long as that wouldn't mean crashing your romantic holiday, of course!!

  • Kiki (Run Kiki Run) September 22, 2009, 1:09 am

London, did you say London?! Yay my fave bloggers are coming Europe-side. Cant wait for details of your trip and a plan to meet up! xx

I love London! Covent Garden is so nice at Christmas! That is so cute about the re-proposal!

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point September 22, 2009, 3:41 am

BethAnn – Ideally I would always take the day after a long run off, but because my schedule blows, I have to squeeze a run in there if I want to hit 4 runs/week. It's not ideal and I'm sure I'll blow it off more than once.

eatingmachine – i usually eat them plain — i like the taste.

  • Lauren September 22, 2009, 4:15 am

Oh I adore London. How sweet of him! My husband planned a surprise trip for me this past weekend for our second anniversary, back to our wedding night hotel and then where we spent our first anniversary. But unforeseen expenses arose (gotta love those pets) and the trip got canceled. I'm totally jealous of your possible trip though!

  • Christina September 22, 2009, 5:43 am

THANK YOU SO MUCH for saying that it is "ok" to miss the odd training run or even a Whole Week as I am pretty much doing that this week because I have a horrible head cold…….the guilt of not running is getting to me but I know I shouldn't & I won't! =( Laura
