Daydreamin’

Quick work break to say hello! 🙂

Around 10:30 AM, I was struck by the munchies and had a bar:

Lunch was one of the simple Caitlin creations I’ve been relying on so much lately:

IMG_2152

Roasted baby yellow Dutch potatoes (there is no "trick" to roasting these potatoes, I just slice, coat in olive oil, and bake at 425 until crispy) and kidney beans:

No tricks to the beans, either.  People always comment, "Do you put anything on your beans?!" and the answer is no. I love beans, and they have become a fall-back food for me.  Before I went vegetarian, the fallback food was deli meat.  Now it’s beans.  Yum!

And a lettuce-less salad:

Random thing that made me smile today: My BFF Lauren sent me a gift card to my favorite running store, for no good reason whatsoever! How awesome is that?  I’m going to go on Friday and buy a new top for the race on Saturday (I’m racing a 15K).

Thanks, Lauren!  🙂

Default Thinking

Kelly had an interesting post up the other day about "default thinking," which is what subject you tend to think about when you are bored.  Kelly daydreams about running!

My default thinking is definitely blogging.  I start to write posts in my head.  Sometimes, I daydream about winning the lottery or going on a great vacation! 🙂

What do you daydream about?

I blog in my head too 🙂

I actually really dislike beans, which is why I get so frustrated every time I go vegetarian! I don't like beans or tofu, and yes I know there are other options, but for now this is what holds me back. I guess I should keep trying to like them. I do like lentils, so that's a start.

  • Angharad (eating for england) September 22, 2009, 10:14 am

That's really funny! I daydream most often about traveling but also I daydream a LOT about food! What meal I'm eating next… what's for dinner tonight… what I should have for breakfast tomorrow!
Running definitely pops into my mind as well – I plot maps in my head!

  • SuperDots September 22, 2009, 10:18 am

I usually daydream about fun things to do on the upcoming weekend, or daydream about what's going to happen on the weekend!

I also daydream about clothes and outfits, LOL!

  • Lauren September 22, 2009, 10:23 am

I daydream about blogging too! I am always thinking of things in my head to write whenever I'm eating or running. Its really crazy!

  • Runeatrepeat September 22, 2009, 10:24 am

I write blog posts and emails in my head.
The bad thing about the emails is then I think I sent them and I never get back to people!

  • kirsten September 22, 2009, 10:24 am

I dream of travel – all the time! Food and wine too 🙂

  • angieinatlanta September 22, 2009, 10:40 am

I don't blog in my head but I plan for work in my head, which is not great default thinking. It can stress me out!

I love beans as well and I never add anything!

  • Pam September 22, 2009, 10:40 am

Three cheers for sprouts!! Seriously. Lettuceless salads are awesome!

  • recipesforcreativity September 22, 2009, 10:41 am

I definitely day dream about winning the lottery! I think about my life coaching business quite often, or about what I'll make for dinner, too. I don't think I daydream enough anymore…

  • Whitney@whitsgettingfit September 22, 2009, 10:41 am

I daydream about what yummy creation I can come up with, and then how I can blog about it, of course.

  • Amber (Girl with the red hair) September 22, 2009, 10:42 am

    * Running
    * Blogging and blog post ideas (I think about this A LOT and totally blog in my head but then when I go to sit down and WRITE the post I've lost most of my fabulous idea)
    * My future
    * School (ugh, not my favourite thing to think about that's for sure)

Those are just a few things that I daydream about 🙂

  • Mrs. LC September 22, 2009, 10:42 am

haha our default thinking is on the same level.

I'll write posts in my head, plan out everything I'd use the $$ for when I win the powerball (note to self: get ticket!), and lately it's been about going back to school. Being jobless makes you think a lot about what you want out of life and what you're going to do to get there. 🙂

That and I plan out recipes, too. FOOD NERD ALERT!

  • Leah @ L4L September 22, 2009, 10:45 am

I default to food. What to eat, meal planning, blogging about food, researching recipes, whatever it be.

  • Paige@ Running Around Normal September 22, 2009, 10:47 am

    What a lovely simple lunch!

My default is definitely blogging. When I used to write news, it was producing. I used to think of stories and then their headlines or "teasers" and now I think of posts and titles! lol

  • emily September 22, 2009, 10:48 am

    ha, I make meal plans!

  • Food Makes Fun Fuel September 22, 2009, 10:48 am

FOOD. Haha. Most people would say it's a sign of always being hungry. I think it's just a sign of being me

  • itsawrapteacher September 22, 2009, 10:49 am

I love random gifts. Today a colleague gave me a framed spray painted drawing of a gorgeus piece that looks like Pink Floyd's cover album from Dark Side of the Moon. Love it and totally made my week.

  • seesaraheat September 22, 2009, 10:49 am

I daydream about having a different job 🙂

I also love beans! I like how there are many different choices too so it never gets old.

  • Jenna September 22, 2009, 10:53 am

yeah i have definitely noticed you having beans a lot! you must really like them. nice gift card girl 🙂

  • Mel September 22, 2009, 10:55 am

First, wanted to say a big thanks, because I stumbled upon your blog a few weeks ago and decided to start my own. Thanks for inspiring me!!

I daydream about different "what if" scenarios. I dream about what I'd REALLY like to say to someone, or how to handle a situation with a friend or my husband. Or I often envision myself succeeding in doing something.

  • Courtney September 22, 2009, 10:56 am

I daydream about the transitions at my very first sprint triathlon coming up this weekend. Sometimes it is more like an awake nightmare than a daydream though! I will be kind of glad when it is over so I can focus on something else. But daydreaming about it prepares me for anything that could happen!

  • Hi! I'm Erin September 22, 2009, 11:04 am

Awesome gift! Your friends definitely know you well!

I daydream about food, about a better/different job or about what I'd be doing if I didn't have to work.

I write blog posts in my head when I'm running.

  • brandi September 22, 2009, 11:05 am

Hmm..I daydream about all kinds of things! Totally random sometimes, but it can be a situation I'm dealing with, something with family, shopping :), running, blogging…

  • Laura@FindingAHealthyBalance September 22, 2009, 11:08 am

As a working, mom, wife, etc……my Default Thinking is always about my schedule and what I need to do next!!! After that though it would be running & blogging of course! =) Laura

  • Julie @savvyeats September 22, 2009, 11:15 am

I definitely daydream either about my upcoming wedding or my next blog post!

  • Anonymous September 22, 2009, 11:20 am

I'm thinking of starting a blog but my default thinking runs more along the lines of visualizing my workouts and what I want to accomplish.

Just a thought – as great as it is to buy new clothes, I don't know if I would wear a new shirt/bra for a race, especially a 15k. Even if it was a brand/style you already own, one wayward seam/stitch that seems like nothing when you try it on, will end up causing you all kinds of trouble.

Hope you have a great race!

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point September 22, 2009, 11:22 am

anon – ooo good point. 🙁

  • Marissa September 22, 2009, 11:22 am

I think it tweets, LOL 🙂

  • Lauren September 22, 2009, 11:25 am

I daydream about one day buying a house, getting another puppy, becoming a celebrated novelist, and taking a three month-long vacation with my boyfriend in Greece 🙂

    All very practical daydreams.

  • Chloe (Naturally Frugal) September 22, 2009, 11:32 am

I daydream about canning, cooking, and eating. It's been on my mind right now since there is so much fresh produce available!

Love your healthy, easy meals. Just goes to show that fast food does not have to equal Mickey D's!

  • just me September 22, 2009, 11:41 am

oh i think about so many things…but it more like predicting or daydreaming what might happen in the future, ie what it will be like when i see the boy again! 😉 but i think about food, blogging, and running a lot too.

  • Jolene - EverydayFoodie September 22, 2009, 11:44 am

I day dream about conversations I would have with people if I met them … or I day dream about cooking, or about buying new furniture and decorating my house.

What a great friend Lauren is!! That is awesome!!!

  • Samantha~ September 22, 2009, 12:49 pm

I mostly day dream about what I could be doing when I am not at work…but someone has to pay the bills!!

  • Lizzy September 22, 2009, 12:56 pm

i totally blog in my head too, its funny because when i'm doing something, in my head i'm thinking about how i might want to talk about what i'm doing at any given time! 🙂

  • Anne Marie September 22, 2009, 12:58 pm

I daydream a lot about blogging, now that I think of it! I also daydream about the hubby and fun things to do with our time off!

  • tracik September 22, 2009, 12:59 pm

Daydreaming for me tends to be either about running, Bikram Yoga, or the vacation that I have haven't taken yet this year because I have been to busy! It's already coming up to the end of September and I still need to take 3 weeks vaca…

  • KK @ Running Through Life September 22, 2009, 1:04 pm

I blog in my head all the time! Too bad my blog posts in my head always sound better than when I have the chance to finally type them out!

I love beans too! Kidney beans, black beans, etc! Good stuff!

  • Brie (The Fit Bride) September 22, 2009, 2:25 pm

Food. Unfortunately. Lately, the wedding, too.

  • Simply Life September 22, 2009, 2:45 pm

The potatoes look delicious! Thanks for the healthy and simple recipe!

  • Jenna September 22, 2009, 3:58 pm

What a great BFF you have!

I daydream about what I would do if I had all the money in the world and all the people I could help and/or trying to figure out what my true passion in life is.

  • traveleatlove September 22, 2009, 4:59 pm

My default thinking is either about food, what I am going to cook next or what restaurants I want to try, or travel. Which usually leads me to a blog post. . .

  • chandra h September 22, 2009, 5:04 pm

my default thinking is usually taking/designing mental photographs? or scenes that would play out well to my current favorite songs. or just creating some sort of story or whimsically deep statement through arty means. or writing scenes from my life as a story or a movie. lol its hard to explain… i daydream A LOT 😛 my favorite time is when i'm in the car or on a walk or run.

thanks for the question! default thinking says a lot about you i think; I've been trying to examine mine more to figure out my niche.
    happy daydreaming 🙂

  • Joelle (The Pancake Girl) September 22, 2009, 5:08 pm

Okay, feel like I'm talking about this a lot, but my default thinking is almost always food and/or cooking or eating it… Love it!

  • Becky September 22, 2009, 5:13 pm

I love beans too! My bf thinks I'm crazy and doesn't always look forward to the consequences!
I usually daydream about running or what I'm going to make to eat. I also like to think of different creations that I've never tried before. (I am a dork!)

  • Amanda (Two Boos Who Eat) September 22, 2009, 6:24 pm

what a sweet best friend! I daydream about getting into better shape all the time!

  • Ali September 23, 2009, 6:55 am

My daydream about blogging too, and since I have started planning my wedding, I daydream about what that will be like.
