I really, really love going to restaurants that cater to vegetarians.  :)  Makes me feel included for once!

Veg-O-Rama is a great vegetarian restaurant in Knoxville.  It has such a quaint interior with tons of funky art work.

I ordered the juice of the day, which was watermelon with a hint of mint:

And for my entree, I ordered a bowl of corn chowder:

Which was huge (should’ve gotten the cup).  I also ordered the noodle bowl, which had whole wheat noodles, peanut sauce, hot sauce, and raw veggies:

I liked both entrees a lot, but I think the corn chowder was a tad too peppery.  The noodle bowl was excellent!

My mom ordered the BBQ baked tofu and loved it (I love the cat painting behind her):

Then we did MORE shopping.  I know, I’ve shopped my entire vacation away!  But today’s shopping was important…. I was buying supplies for the Healthy Living Summit!  Can you BELIEVE I leave for Boston in two days?! I can’t!

I munched on apricots and almonds in Target:

And left this Operation Beautiful note:

What’s your favorite type of restaurant to go to?  I love going to vegetarian/vegan restaurants, since I can order anything.  But I also love THAI!

that noodle bowl looks so tasty!

  • Leianna August 11, 2009, 12:12 pm

I love Thai or really anything Oriental/different! I've never been to a strictly vegetarian restaurant but everything you had looks so good and fresh! Happy Shopping!

  • emily - eatventures August 11, 2009, 12:13 pm

My favorite type of restaurant is Thai food, hands down! After that I like anywhere that feelys themey (like Serendipity).

  • Dori August 11, 2009, 12:24 pm

Your noodle dish looks and sounds so great! I love noodles with sesame or peanut sauce from Chinese, but never get it because it is so unhealthy. I wish I could find a version like the one you ordered. Maybe I will make it! Hmmm.

I have two favorite types of restaurant: Pancake houses and Mexican! Pancakes and french toast are my favorite foods ever, and for some reason I crave Mexican food every day!

  • seesaraheat August 11, 2009, 12:29 pm

I love that you put that note on those pills, yay!

I think my favorite type of restaurant is Indian or Greek but anywhere small, with good food that isn't a chain or stuff I could get anywhere is good in my book 😉

  • Nicole ( August 11, 2009, 12:30 pm

I love going to any kind of vegetarian or vegan restaurant. I love being able to order whatever I want. Besides that, I love Middle Eastern food (FALAFEL!!) and of course, veggie sushi! My favorite restaurant, Miya's, deserves it's own category 😀

  • Amelia (AC/DC: Highways to Health) August 11, 2009, 12:34 pm

That restaurant looks great! My favorite restaurant is probably Mexican. There are always a lot of options.

    Love that Operation Beautiful note!!!

  • Help Meghan Run August 11, 2009, 12:34 pm

Any healthy restaurant! 😉 Or New American, since they usually have creative salads, or seafood. Anyplace with good vegetarian options.

  • Olga August 11, 2009, 12:37 pm

I love that you felt that note on weight loss pills! Great idea.

I love thai, Mexican and Indian restaurants! They have their share of healthy options.

Love the name of that place. And cute too.

  • Gina August 11, 2009, 12:46 pm

Definitely Thai and Japanese. I wish we had vegetarian/vegan restaurants near my house, I would probably eat there almost every day 🙂

  • recipesforcreativity August 11, 2009, 12:50 pm

I love vegetarian restaurants, too, but I get overwhelmed since I have so many choices! I'm used to going to a restaurant and having only a few things. If not a veggie restaurant, I love me some Indian food! And veggie sushi. And Noodle bowls. And Mexican! Give me ethnic food of any kind and I'm happy 🙂

  • beesknees August 11, 2009, 12:54 pm

I have to go with Thai, too. It helps that my husband is a big fan as well!

  • Glo August 11, 2009, 12:58 pm

Your lunch looks sooo delicious! Veggie restaurants rock. When I go out to eat it's always Thai, Indian, or Greek/Middle Eastern. I love my ethnic foods!

  • Cait (Cait's Plate) August 11, 2009, 1:20 pm

  • Taylor August 11, 2009, 1:58 pm

That restaurant looks so cute! My favorite restaurant is Dragonfly, which is a sushi place in town! It's so freakin good!

  • Jolene - EverydayFoodie August 11, 2009, 2:32 pm

I love Veggie restaurants too, even though I am not a vegetarian. My husband and I like to eat veggie meals a few times a week, and non veggie a few times too! My favorite restaurant makes organic rice bowls with fresh raw veggies, tofu and brown rice! Yummy!!

  • Heather O'Donnell August 11, 2009, 2:50 pm

I recently started reading your blog. I'm a runner too….but just started. Running a 5K this weekend, only my 2nd one. Also love eating healthy…my favorite is Thai, without a doubt. Or, anywhere that I can get something veggie and the husband can get red meat. I don't eat red meat, so he hardly ever gets it at home.

  • Marissa {sparkles and fate} August 11, 2009, 3:18 pm

I LOVE vegetarian restaurants!!! My husband is a vegetarian too and usually we have to get creative with menus.

  • Beth @ CrossBorderCravings August 11, 2009, 4:35 pm

My favorite kind is anything contemporary casual. I like to try things from chefs who think outside of the box, but I also like a relaxed, friendly environment. I agree that thai is also great!!

  • inmytummy August 11, 2009, 4:42 pm

I like sushi and mediteranean. (I can never spell that right!)

  • HD@Losing Weight-Healthy Heart August 11, 2009, 4:46 pm

I like to go to places that serve local, fresh fare… not any one type of cuisine. And I LOVE the Operation Beautiful note and its placement – so great!

  • Elina August 11, 2009, 4:59 pm

What a cute little restaurant. My favorite is Italian, I think, but it's been forever since I've been to one. Funny.
I can't believe all you girls will be here in Boston in just 2 days. I'm so excited to meet everybody!!! 😀

  • Andee (Runtolive) August 11, 2009, 5:11 pm

I love going to Greek restaurant, you can always count on a healthy yummy Greek salad. My boyfriend loves Italian and we always try to seek out the "little Italy" places in different cities

  • Susan August 11, 2009, 5:13 pm

I love veggie restaurants too. Mostly because they usually have the BEST veggie burgers 🙂

Greek/Lebanese food is my all-time fave though. I'm happy anywhere with homemade hummus and falafel!!

  • Lauren August 11, 2009, 5:32 pm

I wish we had more vegan restaraunts around her, but sadly, there is nada! 🙁

I would say my favorite places to go are ones that have food that I couldn't recreate up to their standards, like sushi, thai or any ethnic fare.

Glad you are enjoying all the shopping. Sounds like a great week!

  • roseyrebecca August 11, 2009, 6:21 pm

I love Asian Fusion Restaurants and Bistros!

  • jesseklittle August 11, 2009, 6:40 pm

Love that you left a note on a bottle of diet pills-you go, girl! You have to read "Dreams from My Father" too-it is so honest and genuine, and he writes so elegantly.

  • theskinnyplate August 11, 2009, 7:06 pm

Great place to leave the "operation beautiful note."

  • Emily August 11, 2009, 8:49 pm

I LOVE where you posted that note!

  • heyitstay August 11, 2009, 9:09 pm

I also love going to vegetarian/organic type of places because they have dishes I can eat (I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't eat red-meat), and usually have delicious/unique type of dishes. And they're usually trying to be a bit healthier!

  • Caroline August 11, 2009, 9:25 pm
