Truckin’ On Like a Champ

in All Posts

The Husband and I took James on a 2.8-mile walk along a nature preserve this morning — Maggie got left at home because there is no way her little leggies can go that far.

I can’t believe my in-laws have been next door to this trail for 4 years and we didn’t know about it.

And best of all, it’s 3.9 miles long — which means I’m coming back tomorrow for my 8.0-mile training run.  🙂

I don’t think James has EVER walked this far!  He trucked on like a champ, though.

The Hus kept James on a tight leash, though — the trail edge was so swampy.  We didn’t see any gators, but we both knew they were out there, somewhere!

I even made James take a picture at the half-way mark.  This was really mile 1.4 (since we were going backwards on the trail).  He’s so proud of himself, I can tell!

Before we left, I had two dates:

And when we came back, I had some crackers + hummus as we tried to decide what to do with the rest of the day:

IMG_0688 Does it take you FOREVER to decide what do with your off days, too?  The Husband and I seriously discussed our plans for 30 minutes.  We eventually decided on eating lunch at home and seeing a movie + grabbing dinner later.

We had salad for lunch:

Plus, two slices of this crusty rosemary bread.

Must… disconnect… from… computer!

Have a good day!

aww your dog is soo cute! If my dog was there, she would've been dinner AND dessert for a gator 🙂 haha

Hey! I have been reading your blog for quit some time, but never left a comment. I just had to say I love that pic of your dog sitting by the mile marker all proud. What a cutie. Also, that salad looks delish.

Aww, this post makes me miss my dogs at my mom's place! They love going for long walks 🙂

Yes, it does take me and my boyfriend forever to figure out what to do with our days off! (which is rare, we often have conflicting schedules). Thankfully, we're really good at killing time and having a blast doing it 🙂

I love the picture of James by the mile marker…I bet he doesn't know what he's just done!

  • allijag August 22, 2009, 11:18 am

James is such a handsome devil – he totally loved "hoggin" this post since he didn't have to compete with Maggie pictures.

And yes – it takes FOR-EV-ER for us to decide what to do on the weekends. Typically hours because we'll talk about it for 10 minutes, not be able to decide, go play on the computer, then come back to it all over again 😉

    Hey Caitlin!

The hunk of bread is calling my name. Any type of bread, and you have reached a major weakness of mine 🙂

I have been following your blog for a LONG time now, and finally got the courage to start my own today. So it is a very new blog, but I hope you will visit it from time to time!

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday!

  • Sara August 22, 2009, 2:23 pm

Hahaha at James' unknowingly triumphant photo near the mile-marker. Also, it seriously DOES take that long to decide what to do with free time! Messed up.

  • Annamarina (Running Tails) August 22, 2009, 3:47 pm

What a good dog! My golden retriever is such a lazy bum – she gets quite stubborn on runs/walks and doesn't like to go too far. Nice work James!

  • Jenna August 22, 2009, 5:11 pm

looks like you two had a nice relaxing walk this morning!

  • Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) August 22, 2009, 6:39 pm

I'm not a super regular reader of your blog but I try 🙂 Your comment about taking 30 mins to decide what you're gonna do. Ahh, I remember those days. Not now though, I have a 2 yr old and so decisions gotta happen fast. Like one every second, I swear, kids move at a frantic pace and there is absolutely no time for indecision. 30 mins = A lifetime as a parent. LOL Your Fla. trip looks awesome!

  • Penny August 23, 2009, 1:04 pm

I can't imagine living in a place where a person has to look out for gators!

  • Stacey August 23, 2009, 6:17 pm

Haha 🙂 James is so cute. My dog only makes it to the 1.5 mark then turns and pulls the leash (and me) back to the car lol.

  • seesaraheat August 24, 2009, 6:19 am

Go James! I need to get my doggie's butt back out there, she's been lazy since it's been too hot outside. But the longest she ever walked was a 5K 😉
