My Favorite Part

in All Posts

I made a platter lunch to help keep my mouth happy:

CIMG8016

The base of my lunch was 1 cup of Roasted Red Pepper soup:

CIMG8019

Plus, cheese and crackers:

CIMG8017

And carrots and celery.

CIMG8018

Nom nom nom!  This took me forever to eat, which I always enjoy.

What’s Your Favorite Part?

I was admiring Maggie’s intense physical perfection this morning.  She has the longest, blackest, most perfect doggie nose:

CIMG8009

These big, floppy ears ("the better to HEAR you with, my dear!"):

CIMG8014

A long, chubby, spotted, and characteristically dachshund body:

CIMG8004

Little short leggies:

CIMG8015

And (oddly enough) seven nipples:

CIMG8020

Maggie may not be everyone’s idea of doggie perfection, but for a dachshund-lover like me, she’s just right.  I can never get over the fact that her first human family abandoned her.

My favorite part of myself is my LEGS!

CIMG8021

They are strong, carry me many miles, and look pretty rockin’ in heels.  :)  I used to get all caught up about the cellulite on the back of my thighs, and then one day I realized that almost EVERYONE has cellulite, and models and celebrities in magazines are all photoshopped.  Guess what? Life isn’t airbrushed!  So, I love my legs FULLY.

What’s your favorite part?

Isn't it too hot for soup?? I can't stand the thought of eating it in the summer. Right now in Memphis, it is 94, muggy, and miserable 🙂 Sucks though, because soup is so yummy!

My favorite part is my eyes. I get a lot of compliments on them. They allow me to read—something I love to do. They allow me to play the piano. To read blogs 🙂

Maggie looks like a chunk of cuteness 🙂

  • Runeatrepeat August 5, 2009, 9:21 am

You legs do look rockin' in that picture.

My fave part is my hair because it's different. But I still want to go blonde some day.

Maggie is too cute…you should tell her she's super popular on the blog 🙂

  • Mica August 5, 2009, 9:21 am

I have a love-hate relationship with my calves. Right now, it's mostly love.

…Though I'd be happy to trade them for Maggie's adorable physique any day. 😉

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point August 5, 2009, 9:23 am

runeat – maggie knows how popular she is 🙂 i tell her everyday. i actually do. lol. crazy dog lady alert!

  • Erica August 5, 2009, 9:26 am

    I LOVED this post.

First because your lunch looks so yummy! I am a big fan of variety on a plate- keeps the taste buds happy 😉

Second, I am obviously a huge dog lover and I think its great that we all find different dogs appealing. I love that Frank has a chubby, front heavy body with short arms/legs. I love that hes stubborn and that although he doesn't want to be bothered, he always wants to be near you and be loved. I love that he slows me down and makes me relax.

Hmmm my favorite thing/part of me?? Two things 1 (not really a part)- I love that I'm short. I use to hate it and just wish and wish that I could be taller. Now I think its wonderful, 2. my muscles! I use to hate that I developed muscle (especially in my legs) so easily. Now I think of it as a sign of strength and am grateful!

  • Anonymous August 5, 2009, 9:29 am

I love that im short (even though at 5.2 I often feel 6 ft until im around other ppl lol) and my bright blue eyes!
Have a good day! Ive been reading your blog since fall but don't think ive ever commeneted before!

  • christina- MINDFUL LIVING August 5, 2009, 9:29 am

my smile! i smile alot and it is very very big.

  • Lo August 5, 2009, 9:34 am

u just made me just crave soup! so thats for lunch today 😉 oh and i love my legs (they are long, strong and slim) and I love my eyes…i get comments on those babies too. Maggie is such an adorable lil thing. My mom always says that my dog, Tilly, has the face only a mother could love but I think she is just simply adorable 🙂

  • Kelly August 5, 2009, 9:34 am

I love my legs too- I wish my knee would be a little nicer to me, but I definitely like my legs the most- they are not perfect either but i'd miss them if they were gone 🙂

  • Whitney@whitsgettingfit August 5, 2009, 9:35 am

    1. That lunch looks delicious.

    2. Maggie is one of the cutest dogs ever. Plus I like the name Maggie. A lot. Like first born daughter lot. Not that I have a first born daughter yet, or anything.

    3. You do have nice legs. Personally I love my arms. My legs are pretty strong and can carry me many miles, but my arms will get toned like crazy when I want them to. I love it.

  • runnerskitchen August 5, 2009, 9:38 am

My legs may not be perfect (my quads make jean-buying difficult!), but they are strong and I love them. I like my shoulders too 🙂

Great looking lunch! Cheese + crackers is soo good.

  • Pam (Highway to Health) August 5, 2009, 9:38 am

My legs are my favorite part of me! They are getting stronger by the day.

I seriously want a pup! Maggie is adorable.

  • recipesforcreativity August 5, 2009, 9:38 am

I'd say my favorite part of me is my overall shape. Curvy, womanly, not thin. I like to pretend I'm Joan Hollaway from Mad Men and walk around struttin' my stuff!

Caitlin, thanks for telling us you have cellulite! I had it even at my smallest size, and I certainly have it now, but who cares?? You are so right, life is not air brushed!

  • Johanna B August 5, 2009, 9:39 am

My favorite part is my hands. I often get compliments on them and I love the things they can do — play piano, type, hold someone else's hand, and they feed me when I'm hungry.

  • Andee (Runtolive) August 5, 2009, 9:45 am

I love those kinds of lunches! Makes me crave cheese and crackers right now

  • Danielle C. August 5, 2009, 9:46 am

I love my legs too, I love how strong they look and how strong they actually are. I also love my back, I know that is a strange part to like but I love how sculpted my lats are, and that I've worked so hard to actually be able to do a couple of pullups (always working to do more!).

  • Ashley Lauren August 5, 2009, 9:50 am

Have you ever seen Erin Vey's website? She's a dog photographer that takes the most beautiful pictures of doggy noses, paws and tails! I love it!!

I love Jack's little white paws more than anything! They are all completely spot-less (He's a dalmatian) 🙂

  • Sheri August 5, 2009, 9:55 am

Maggie is such a cutie! You have some rockin legs girl!

My favorite part is my arms and shoulders. I love how they look defined and strong. It took me awhile to get them that way and I am darn proud of it.

    Also, your lunch looks yummy!

  • Colleen August 5, 2009, 9:56 am

Awwww, I love this post! Maggie is so adorable, I have a Maggie too (collie) and her furry hiney always makes me laugh…she trots in perfect time with that song "Tequila."

I love my feet. They are ugly, calloused, carry me many miles, and they look just like my Dad's and that makes me smile!

  • Janessa August 5, 2009, 10:00 am

So cute! I love how much you love your pets. 🙂

  • beesknees August 5, 2009, 10:06 am

Great legs 🙂 I used to obsess about cellulite too – even when I was in high school and very very small. If I had it then, I have started to come to realize that chances are, its not going away any time soon!

My favorite part has always been my stomach. Even at a higher weight I had some definition. Lately though I have really started to like my arms. The are strong and help me lift heavy things in the gym 🙂

  • Susan August 5, 2009, 10:08 am

My favourite are my legs as well. I'm on the taller side, and pretty much all my height comes from my long, lean legs. And I've been blessed to be cellulite free. Put me in a mini skirt and you'll forget I have no cleavage 😛

  • tracik August 5, 2009, 10:18 am

Ha! Just as most runners I think my favorite part is my strong calves. Love the fact that my legs are so strong!

Love the lunch too Caitlin, looks great.

  • brandi August 5, 2009, 10:18 am

love the lunch and all the maggie pictures!

i'd say my legs, too. They've proven me wrong before in what I thought I could do, plus they look great in a dress with heels 🙂

  • Nikky August 5, 2009, 10:20 am

My eyes for sure, I love the yellow-brown around the middle, and how bright green the outside is.

I've also come to love the 2 inch wide chunk of gray in my hair that randomly started growing two years ago (I figure at 21 I don't have to freak about gray hair just yet). I love how unique it is, and it ties me into my dad's family (his mom's side all has them in different spots).

  • roseyrebecca August 5, 2009, 10:21 am

I'm loving my shoulders and back lately and sometimes my stomach.

    Maggie is adorable

  • Nikky August 5, 2009, 10:21 am

PS – Maggie is about the cutest thing ever. I can't give her first place because I'd be betraying my own Smudge and Kazam, but she's utterly adorable.

  • Anonymous August 5, 2009, 10:25 am

i like my shoulders! theyre pretty broad and strong but feminine. im working on my legs and trying to get that carved look but it's taking forever 🙁

  • Stephanie August 5, 2009, 10:25 am

My daschund puppy has seven nipples too!!

  • Marissa {sparkles and fate} August 5, 2009, 10:30 am

    AWW!! Cute pups!

  • just me August 5, 2009, 10:37 am

    my hands…these babies do EVERYTHING!!!!

  • Jessica August 5, 2009, 10:37 am

I love my legs as well! They have gotten me through a marathon (albeit injured while doing it) and they have gotten me through a number of triathlons, including a Half Ironman coming up in September!

Maggie is too cute! I love the picture of her laying on her back when you refer to her 7 nipples. Dogs are the best!

  • Lauren August 5, 2009, 10:41 am

My favorite part of your lunch is the CHEESE! Yum.

I know what you mean about feeling baffled that your dog's previous family abandoned her. We adopted both our cat and dog from the SPCA, and they are utterly adorable! How could anyone give up these furry loves?!

My favorite part of my body are my hands. They've seen me through piano, violin, and clarinet lessons, tennis matches and art classes… plus, they show off my new wedding ring ;).

  • Beth @ CrossBorderCravings August 5, 2009, 10:42 am

I like my stomach. It's nice and flat thanks to lots of working out!

  • Courtney F. August 5, 2009, 10:42 am

I love my hair and eyes. Although, I do have "bad" hair days, in reality they are not so bad. My eye lashes are so long and I get compliments on them and my hair. Compliments are never a bad thing in my book.

  • seesaraheat August 5, 2009, 10:46 am

I loved this post! My dog Suzie is a beagle mix with unusually short legs and big floppy ears, plus she waddles when she walks…perfect dog to me — her first family gave her to the Humane Society, which is where I found her. She is the best and I can't imagine why anyone would've given her up, but I think it was just because she was meant to be with us 🙂

My favorite thing about me?? I like my smile 🙂

  • Katherine August 5, 2009, 10:52 am

My favourite part is my bum…haha

  • Peter August 5, 2009, 10:53 am

ok, friends – a detail about Caitlin – when she was born, the doctor held her up, spanked her, and went " I've never seen a baby with calves" – just like Dad!

  • foodnfit August 5, 2009, 10:56 am

    That soup looks delicious!

  • Quinn August 5, 2009, 11:00 am

Definitely my eyes. They are a pretty fierce blue and am often asked if I have colored lenses. They are the window to the soul.

  • Angharad August 5, 2009, 11:01 am

My legs are my favorite part of me as well for the same reasons! I also used to stress about stretch marks/cellulite but seriously – what is the point?!

  • Stephanie August 5, 2009, 11:06 am

That soup looks amazing…but it's way to hot for that! lol

My favorite part is my arms. Ever since I started weight training, they have become so much stronger. They help me carry things. They let me hold George 🙂 and they let me serve that killer backhand that flies past my husband everytime 😉

  • MarathonVal August 5, 2009, 11:10 am

    You do have great legs!

I love my legs too for the things that they have done for me. I still have a hard time accepting them on occasion (those thighs in particular!) but when I realize the great things that they have accomplished, I wouldn't trade them for anything!

  • Carolina John August 5, 2009, 11:21 am

my favorite part is currently my calves. they are quite lean and muscular since i've been running regularly. arms are a close second for the same reasons.

  • Jenn Eats Nutritiously Now August 5, 2009, 11:36 am

    Maggie does look perfect 😉

I love my eyes and my lips!

  • Kelly August 5, 2009, 11:44 am

My favorite part of me is my stomach. I really disliked it all growing up, I always thought my love handles were too big. Now I love my tummy and think my love handles and wide hips are rockin'. 🙂

My favorite part of Oliver is his tummy too. 🙂 It's so soft and squishy.

  • angieinatlanta August 5, 2009, 12:01 pm

I usually don't respond to Questions of the Day (I'm such a lurker!) but this was a great one.

My favorite part is my calves; I used to see them as bulky and manly…but now I see them as strong and healthy!

  • Andrea August 5, 2009, 12:07 pm

Thanks for doing this…we should all focus on the things we love about ourselves more often! My favorite part is my back. It's strong and muscular. It's one of my stronger parts so it motivates me to make my other parts as strong!

  • Michelle August 5, 2009, 12:32 pm

I love that you posed this question to us…what a great idea to boost self-confidence! 🙂

My favorite part(s) of myself are: my eyes and my calves! 🙂

  • Paige@ Running Around Normal August 5, 2009, 12:40 pm

Maggie is pretty adorable. My bff just got her second daschound, Pocket.

My fav body part is my stomach. It's hereditarily flat, and allows me to easily have defines abs if I want to!

  • abby August 5, 2009, 12:48 pm

    hey caitlin!
This is kind of a random question but I've always been curious — how do you (and other bloggers) earn money from your blog? I feel like I once heard that you get paid per pageview from Foodbuzz?
p.s. I know you guys blog because you love it! This is more out of curiosity!

  • Oh She Glows August 5, 2009, 12:52 pm

    Maggie = True Love

  • Jenna August 5, 2009, 12:52 pm

I love my eyes..they change from green to blue depending on what color shirt I am wearing!

I also, like you, love my legs for their shape, the curviness and how much they do for me every single day!

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point August 5, 2009, 12:58 pm

abby – yup. we get paid a certain $ amount per 1,000 page views through the foodbuzz featured publishers program. blogher has a similar program (its who im partnered with for operation beautiful).

  • Mandee Lei August 5, 2009, 1:28 pm

Oh Maggie's tummy is just begging for a rub in that picture! My favorite part would be my arms. They were ALWAYS my least favorite until I started lifting weights. Now I love them because of what they allow me to do – just about everything! From hugging my hubby to walking my dog, and of course being able to bench press my body weight isn't too shabby either :]

  • heyitstay August 5, 2009, 1:32 pm

I used to dislike my legs as well because they were TOO big and wouldn't fit into jeans. I still have a hard time fitting them into jeans, but I've learned to love them! They're super toned and show off my miles of running, plus they get me through those miles and up those hills! I love it when someone makes a comment about how muscular my calves are 🙂

  • Rebeca @All Vegged Out August 5, 2009, 2:44 pm

Maggie is gorgeous… She's my fave kind of dog…

Hmm, my favorite part of me are my legs (and booty lol). I used to hate the fact that I was curvy but then I realized that (duh!) boys like it and I should be proud of the body I have and thankful that I have legs that work and I'm not in pain or anything.

  • Savannah August 5, 2009, 3:07 pm

    Such a cute dog!

  • emily August 5, 2009, 4:29 pm

Your puppy parts made me laugh, my very favorite part of our old doxie was her fuzzy chin!

  • Helga August 5, 2009, 4:39 pm

Hey, my legs are also my favorite part! 🙂 Not so lang ago I didn't like anything about my body but recently I discovered that my legs aren't that bad 😉 And that's partly because of you, you and Operation Beautiful have changed my outlook on things.

  • Sarah (Running To Slow Things Down) August 5, 2009, 4:48 pm

Love this post! 😀 Maggie is completly adorable. I find myself "awwing" every time I see pictures of her. 😀

My favorite part of myself would go to my legs as well. I used to be so self conscious of them until I finally decided that I loved them for being so strong!

  • Happy Feet 26.2 August 5, 2009, 4:56 pm

Ok, so I wasn't sure, right after reading this I went to my car to get the camera and took a pic like you did. After that, nope, it's not my legs. Probably my arms, and I am making a tiny bit a progress on the abs.

  • L. Simone August 5, 2009, 5:02 pm

You go girl! Rock your hot legs 😉

  • eatingRD August 5, 2009, 5:10 pm

awwwh maggie! so darling. My favorite part I think is my legs too because they are long dancer legs 🙂 Now about that tummy . . . haha

  • Sassy-Kitchen August 5, 2009, 6:28 pm

such cute puppy pictures. my favorite may be my legs too. They've always been muscular and make me extra strong in yoga and running.

  • Leianna August 5, 2009, 6:38 pm

my arms for sure, even though I don't do much strength training, they get pretty toned from running!

  • Susie. August 5, 2009, 7:14 pm

I loveeee Maggie! Is she pretty calm? I have a doxie myself, but he's CRAZY! So full of energy… it drives me nuts sometimes, but I love him 🙂 I should put him on my blog one day!
