Home is Where the Heart is

in All Posts

I love being at my mom’s house.  I never lived here (she moved when I went to college), but it’s so cozy and pretty.  This is the back of the house:

And I love the hardwood floors in the dining room.  I wish we had a dining room!

I drank a glass of wine while my mom cooked dinner (she didn’t let me help much!):

We went to Robert Mondavi on our honeymoon in Napa, so I have a soft spot for his wines.

I also munched on two pretzel rods because I seriously thought my stomach was going to eat itself I was so hungry!

I had an excellent dinner. My aunt and uncle came over and it was very nice to see them, too!  For dinner, my mom made:

  • Her famous vegetarian whole wheat lasagna, which is filled with spinach, squash, and zucchini.
  • Steamed carrots
  • A fresh salad with onion, celery, tomato, and sprouts

Everything was so delicious!  Especially the ginormous hunk of lasagna!

After dinner, we sat on the back patio, watched fireflies, and caught up.  It was fun.  :)  I had a sliver of key lime pie with coconut pineapple ice cream for dessert:

This was a very moderate portion (as you can tell by this baby spoon!) because I was pretty stuffed from dinner:

I love baby silverware.  And I love how my mom brings it out for me automatically.  πŸ™‚

GOODNIGHT!  I can’t wait to go on an early morning run in the Tennessee countryside.  See you tomorrow with a full recap.

I love baby silverware! I have a teaspoon that I always eat with at my parents house. Love the Key Lime Pie! I'm a huge fan.

Oh it looks like you are having so much fun so far! I have this strange obsession with the south…I just think parts of it, like where you are now it seems, are SO idyllic and gorgeous. I think because I've never spent any real time there, I have this romantic notion of uber-polite people with cute little accents πŸ™‚

    Lovely house πŸ™‚

The dinner you mom made looks yummy, as does the dessert – coconut pineapple ice cream sounds like the ideal accompaniment to key lime pie! What brand is the ice cream? Or is it homemade?

I agree about baby silver/plastic-ware. I like to use a baby spoon when I go out for ice cream or fro yo, as it makes the treat last longer!

There's nothing like being home, even if it isn't the home you grew up in, my parents moved when I was in college too, but their new house still feels like home when I go stay with them!

That dessert sounds absolutely amazing and decadent what a great combo. Love the baby silverware too, how fun!

Im the same as you with hills…I always try not to slow down on them…I'd rather just get them over with. Its funny you don't have any hills in FL…we have TONS here. Sometimes I wish I could just run a flat course at times! lol.
PS- I love that B+W dress…I'd buy it and get it altered!

I love Mondavi wines. I didn't get to tour wineries when I was out in Cali for work this past Feb but I'm looking forward to another trip to the West Coast soon!

I really think you need to get that lasagna recipe from your mom and post it for the rest of us who have been drooling over it for days now!
